a visit to chicago helped me clarify the basic types of pizza that are lumped into the "deep dish" category. the basic deep dish style is a bowl-style crust, where the bottom and high sides are relatively equal in thickness. another variety adds a layer of dough on top of the cheese - it's called stuffed pizza. finally, pan style is (like the others) cooked in a pan, but with a thicker crust, shorter walls around the edge, and caramelized cheese around the perimeter.

their menu was manageable with basic bar food along with their famous pizza that sports a “carmelized crust” that seemed to be enhanced by the type of pan they used to bake them.

the fourth day in chicago means the fourth (and final!) deep dish pizza: pequod's.the process to get here was crazy. all of a sudden, it just starts downpouring, and we're racing through the streets of chicago with water is pooling up at every corner. the wind was whipping and easily tossed my hyatt-borrowed umbrella inside out. once we finally reach the restaurant, my jeans were soaked up to my knees, and i could not longer feel anything in my shoes besides just wet.deep dish pizza will fix this.

the pan pizza here is kind of a big deal.... need i say more?! 

i am a huge fan of the freshness of the pizza and ingredients they use. specifically with their vegetables which can often times be frozen.  i can always taste the difference between fresh and frozen spinach especially on pizza and theirs is deliciously fresh.  of course, they are famous for the deep pan style of cooking their pizzas and it's totally worth the wait for the caramelized cheese crust!  

i have also called to have it delivered and although they get quite busy they stay within the time frame they project and it's always tastes hot and fresh even though i don't live that close.

overall, the flavors were good and i liked the textures. the restaurant could easily take themselves to the next level by offering specialty pizzas with preset ingredients or even by offering some ingredient options beyond the norm. while the pizza was decent, i could not justifiably describe this as the best pizza in the universe.

our group decided to come here to try chicago deep dish over the regular giordano's. service was great and so was the pizza. it was super busy late on a saturday night but they will still able to seat (all 15 of) us. pizza was as cheesy and saucy as expected while the crust still remained crispy. i wouldn't say i prefer it over regular pizza but i'm glad i tried it - and here of all the places i could have :) 4.5 stars

i was visiting chicago and got a chance to eat at pequods pizza ...
great chicago pizza , the crust consists complete caramelized cheese with crisp edges 😋😋😋...
good service and comfortable atmosphere !!
very nice filling deep dish pizza ....

different delicious pizza, we normally get take out and order custom pizza. ingredients are always fresh and pizza has less cheesy than normal deep dish style pizza place.

extraordinary pizza. fabulous. not finished or under done, incredible garnishes and its pretty sensibly evaluated i'd state. the hold up was long, around 60 minutes, yet the staff was so neighborly and the bell comes to over the road so you can hold up at the barns and noble. additionally, did i say the pizza was incredible? profound dish tends to set aside a long opportunity to cook right and they were certain that it would require some investment for flawlessness. not very oily. great bar.

the best pizza i have had in chicago! reasonably priced pizza, salad & drinks. i enjoyed the soft deep-dish crust and the sauce was outstanding!! i will be back!

i just went to the pequod's pizza location on clybourn in chicago and i can truly say that i have found the best pizza in chicago. when i mean the best pizza, i mean that have the best original deep dish style pizza that is talked about all over the nation. i have tried pizza in new york and los angeles and i truly believe pequod's to have the best. i love the atmosphere, although i do have to say it's a bit like a bar and i had my 12 year old daughter with me. that being said, the staff was absolutely amazing and made me and my party feel completely comfortable and made the experience really great! i would highly recommend this place to everyone wanting to get an authentic deep dish chicago pie.

it was a sunday night. extremely busy at 8:30pm.

service was great, food was excellent, cute lively place, but the kitchen was soooo slow. they use tasty ingredients. i recommend pequod’s but only if you have time.

i had an amazing time here. i hope that other people can have as good of an experience at this place as i did with my loved one. it was so nice to be treated to such a great meal. my wife asked me out to celebrate an anniversary i was having for my work. i had been working for the fifth straight year at the same place and she surprised me by taking me out to a great place. it was so nice and i loved the food. this was probably my most cherished pizza of all time. i loved the amazing taste and all of the flavors were so explosive and delicious. i thought this was the tastiest pizza of all time and i cannot wait to go back.

the pizza at this place is beyond words. it has a blast of flavor with that warm and cheesy goodness. i have never had a pizza that packed so much flavor in it. i loved this pizza. i did not even need to out on those extra peppers, or parmesan. the pizza came to me with the most amazing flavor i could ever imagine. i had a deep dish pizza and it was probably the best i have ever had. it was not only the food that was really good, it was the whole environment. i loved how amazing the place felt and i liked how noisy it was. i usually do not like a lot of noise, but it just seemed fitting at this place. i hope to come back here the next time i am in chicago.

stopped in for a bite before my flight. the wait was short, 5 minutes. the food was good american fare. prices are what you expect from an airport eatery. the service was spot on and very attentive. the portions were large!
