on the fence. this review is going to be a little dry for the reason i was just not sure concerning overall experience so it left me on the fence. great handmade fries that were displayed extremely well. the hamburger beef was seasoned well and cooked nice with there was a good amount of lettuce ect added to hamburger. the hamburger bun seemed to be over sweet but was fresh. the price, ambience and cleanliness are where it fell apart. the price structure would be seen in a full service restaurant and not fastfoodwhich this definitely would be considered. the atmosphere is where i was put off the most as we were serenaded loudly by the staff members yelling about everything and anything, seemed like a frat party instead of a restaurant. the cleanliness from the surface was in great need of attention including the bathroom. overall if it was not for the price and if i was going for takeout this would be on the list every now and then for quick grabs of nourishment.

we discovered this place via a nextdoor.com recommendation. it is a casual dining place, but very clean. the staff is friendly and welcoming and anxious to please. thefoodis great...the buns are so tasty, but the beef is the star. i always  order the grilled onions on my hamburger, and get some spicy mustard to go with the fries. has quickly become our favorite and it is great to be able to support a locally owned business. sure, there are plenty of burger places these days, but this one is a great neighborhood restaurant with a minimal wait for food, and they truly appreciate your business.

this is the greasy burger joint at its best. the natural cut fries are delicious and so are the buns. it's a great value too. you get a lot offoodfor little cost.

oh my!. beyond awesome. i will never be able to stomach a fastfoodburger again.

food is ok prices are not. 3 specialty burgers, 3 orders of fries, and 3 milkshakes for $45 is outrageous. thank god for groupon other wise i would have not have picked up my to go order. also being told the wrong price over the phone did not help...

oh and thefoodwas alright.

yuck. this is the sorriest burger i've had and way over priced! save some money and eat a real burger, go to nic's grill! it's been featured on thefoodnetwork and it is honestly the best burger i've ever had, hands down! can't believe i just spent money on this nasty place lol

i tried to find their website to let them know but it had lapsed. my wife and i drove across town last night to try patty wagon for the first time.

everyone was friendly. the inside was nicer than the outside.

it took awhile to get ourfoodeven though they were not very busy.

when we received our burgers we noticed the meat was burned and my wife's burger was so burn on one side she could not eat it but the fries were great.

i kept looking around to let someone know but they never came around again.

probably will keep looking for a good burger place.

we have tried urma's downtown and it is great just too far to go unless we are in the area. we live south at sw 119th.

uncomfortable atmosphere.... my main problem with patty wagon is the owner. since he moved into the building, i've visited twice. hoping to just grab some goodfoodand be on my way, the guy stares a hole through my face and goes on and on and on about the ingredients the other guys use. very weird and uncomfortably outgoing and confrontational, as if he's on too high a dose of add meds. the burgers are good but they don't taste grilled or anything. they're just real beef cooked on a stainless surface...it isn't magic, people. if you give them a try, just do yourself a favor and go when they're busy so the owner won't have time to make you sweat.

will not be back.foodwas not that bad but very greasy and very soggy bun. guy taking our order was outside smoking when we pulled up. he came in took our order never washing his hands, nails were very dirty also. then he went around the corner to help cook. gross.

i have not had the opportunity to be a patron here. curiosity compelled me to google it and find these reviews. i remember this iconic building as a thriving national fastfoodchain and love the "rocky" aspect of a local david defeats corporate goliath in their own real estate..... i find it curious that there is a january to september gap in reviews. are local restaurant conglomerate propaganda agents getting lazy or do we blame the average joe for no reviews? tucker's sucks let's be honest... no bacon ?!? soggy buns, limp fries... is this patty wagon the real deal? gimme the rundown.

something's not right here. i became a fan of patty wagon when they were an actual wagon at may and grand. i followed them to may and hefner and then to may and 36th. today i had such an impossibly bad experience i will never return. my visit took almost an hour and a half. a gentleman and his son who came in a good 15-20 minutes after me and received theirfoodabout 1 or 2 minutes after i received mine got a profuse apology over their wait when theirfoodwas delivered and another profuse apology as they left after eating. the owner gave them their next lunch free. for me? nothing -- though, as i said i waited much longer than they -- than anyone else in the building -- did. with all the time i waited, the burger was unexplainably not hot. the fries were good. that's the only positive note i can add to this miserable experience. this business has some serious issues in need of addressing.

fantastic. i understand one of the previous poster's comment about the cleanliness - in fact, i think we were there at the same time. the tables needed to wiped down, for sure - i think we grabbed one of the few clean ones. thefoodis really where these guys excel, though. the burger was amazing! i love s&b - definitely one of the best in the metro. patty wagon is right up there, too. love the hand cut, fresh fries. i didn't think they were overly salted - mine were perfectly seasoned. will definitely be going back for more.

we went for the first time on 10/27/12 & i have to agree with reviewer mike that the place was filthy! table tops, floors & ladies room had trash & dead crickets on floor. i hope this was abnormal because thefoodwas delicious! my husband & i each ordered fries but 1 would be more than enough for us to split - we took leftovers home & husband reheated for dinner. i got the thunder bird sandwich - so big we could have split it! thick slices of turkey ( not sandwich meat) with 3 slices bacon, lettuce, tomato on wheat toast with sauce #2 (mustard) - i stuffed myself eating this entire wonderful sandwich & only ate a few fries. cashier talked husband into getting a double - more than he needed. next time he will get a single with bacon ( he liked how mine looked). we will give them another try sincefoodwas so good but the cleanliness of the restaurant needs to improve.

filthy. when i walked through the front door, there were around five or six people inside. one of them was sitting in a booth by himself talking across the restaurant. my first thought was what an obnoxious guest. when i walked up to the counter, this gentleman got up and walked behind the counter to take the order. i immediately thought "this was the obnoxious guy that was yelling? what a great first impression." he took the order, my wife and i go to get a drink. no ice. ok, he said he would refill the ice machine. no biggie. go to a table to sit. the problem is every single table in the place was filthy. the floor matched. we had to place napkins on the table to put ourfoodso that we weren't disgusted completely. got the food. the burger was good. the fries were ridiculously oversalted.

will not be back. an advice to management, maybe instead of sitting around talking (or yelling) when you have no customers ordering, you could clean the filthy tables, the disgusting floor, or take the time to refill the ice machine.

best burger ever!!!. i am afoodsnob, but this place was amazing! the old school diner feel was reminiscent of my childhood burger joint. the staff was courteous and kind. i was greeted by the man behind the grill, whom i later learned was also the owner. the burger was awesome and it felt homemade. i felt like great care had been taken with the preparation of my food. the burger was juicy and the produce was fresh and crisp, and the bun was out of this world! the fries were crisp and seasoned to perfection and the soda i had was perfectly mixed and they have that awesome crushed ice like sonic. by the time i was finishing my meal the owner had personally refilled our drinks and checked on how we were enjoying our food. i felt as well taken care of at this burger joint as i do at a nice restaurant.
