disappointed. well, we finally made it to paris 66 last night and i regret to say that we will not return. i was terribly disappointed with the food. we were recently in d.c. and had fabulous crepes there for breakfast and lunch.....fresh spinach, feta and mushrooms, etc... the crepe i had last night had creamed spinach with a sauce. i guess i like to see bright colors and enjoy a fresher taste in my mouth. my kids liked the pizza but it was so small for the price.
i'm disappointed. i was hoping to have added another restaurant for a family meal mid-week but this just won't make the cut for us.

best bistro in pittsburgh, period.. i split my time between pittsburgh and ny with multiple trips to france and montreal. paris 66 stands up as an equal to its nyc bistro competition. the new, expanded, menu is great and the specials are always tempting. the food and ambience are very authentic along with good old fashioned american service (paris 66 beats paris anytime with its service). i dined at garde manger in montreal a few weeks ago, and chuck hughes could learn a few lessons about how to run a restaurant from paris 66. in sum, i'll dine here at least a couple of times a month!!

lunch in paris. just got back from lunch @ paris 66 and am very pleased with both the quantity and quality of my meal. the smoked salmon and dill and creme fraiche sauce was the perfect combination with the buckwheat crepe. i definitely see myself going back for more..

the tabletops are decorated with carefully laminated copies of ancient postcards of paris that had belonged to fred's great-grandmother.

enjoyable cafe for brunch. paris 66 is an enjoyable french cafe.

went for brunch and it was so nice! had reservations and were seated immediately. there were some folks waiting, not reservation group, one said to me as were were escorted to our table. my duck confit was oh so tasty...just perfect for a nice brunch.

our server was busy but was very attentive...and very friendly and able to answer our questions.

best brunch in pittsburgh!. and i say this, having had brunch all over town- it's probably my favorite meal. the eggs, crepe and pastry are all excellent! even the coffee is delicious. i have eaten here again and again. non-brunch meals are also good, mainly the crepes.
really cute atmosphere, as well- there is nothing else like it around here. the back covered deck is especially nice in spring/fall.

delicious dishes. i went to paris 66 with a friend last night. i had been really excited to try it. she ordered a sweet crepe, while i favored something more savory. we both had coffee. their coffee is excellent, by the way. my buckwheat crepe had smoked salmon, dill with creme frache and i added an egg. it was tasty and very filling. my friend enjoyed hers as well. our server was really nice and quick to remedy any problem. i will be back, but next time maybe for lunch.

...crème brûlée...the caramelized top was hard and brittle, crisped to the edge of the ramekin, with a sweet and mellow custard underneath..

we'll be back...eventually. this was our 3rd visit - the first time the food and service were great. the second time was a bit of a letdown in comparison, but still good. this last visit the food was excellent but the service was very quirky. we're likely to return but in no real hurry.

for the reputation, our entire party of 4 was disappointed. the gnocchi, french onion soup, and cheese &meat board were very good. the rest was average. with all the other options in the city, paris 66 was simply not serving what we expected.

i love a good cassoulet and had so much hope.

you could buy a whole week's worth of groceries for the price of one meal for two. the food and atmosphere is awesome, don't get me wrong, just way overpriced and so i probably won't be going back just because it's impractical.

good service but food was mediocre for the price. cold eggs! not what i'd expect from a french restaurant. bland and not very authentic. pricey for brunch. much better at casbah

paris 66, how do i describe you.. the first time i went to this restaurant was for restaurant week. they were supposed to have a great deal on a 3 course meal. i said heck with it i will try it out! i arrived with 3 other people we ordered the one option for restaurant week and proceeded to wait. the wait time was not very long as i recall since there was no one else there. however when the portions came out they were very inconsistent. the beef in my dish was very very dry. when i asked the waiter he stated this is how its supposed to be...... when asking for a replacement dish since everyone at the table was undoubtedly cringing from a mouth of what presumably in a blind taste test was described as "coal slag sand blasting sand." they brought out what they said was an excellent dish and was their lamb. once again inconsistency in dishes. seemed like the chef/line cook/ex mcdonald's (no offense to mcdonald's) worker cooked everything in the same pot burned most of it and the remains of the bottom were in my bowl. as i looked through my bowl piece my piece there was literally no lamb. this night for the fifth or sixth time i had to call the waiter over like a hungry newborn to alert him of yet another mess up the kitchen had produced. needless to say, if you like adventure and roulette this place may be for you. it was very in consistent and dissatisfying experience for me. needless to say i will never return here again. every time i drive by this place a foul taste of burnt meat and remains of a old pot surface.

we enter the small restaurant and we are greeted with one word that brings a smile to my face and ignites memories instantly:  "bonjour."  am i in pittsburgh or have i just travelled to my favorite village in france?   the restaurant looks as though it was plucked from paris.  a long mirrored wall, low lights and two-top tables that can easily be joined to make room for four or more.  framed french prints adorn the walls and while the decor is a bit kitschy, it is not at all surprising and strangely comforting.  all in all, it was a good beginning.
