disappointed. well, we finally made it toparis66 last night and i regret to say that we will not return. i was terribly disappointed with the food. we were recently in d.c. and had fabulous crepes there for breakfast and lunch.....fresh spinach, feta and mushrooms, etc... the crepe i had last night had creamed spinach with a sauce. i guess i like to see bright colors and enjoy a fresher taste in my mouth. my kids liked the pizza but it was so small for the price.
i'm disappointed. i was hoping to have added another restaurant for a family meal mid-week but this just won't make the cut for us.

best bistro in pittsburgh, period.. i split my time between pittsburgh and ny with multiple trips to france and montreal.paris66 stands up as an equal to its nyc bistro competition. the new, expanded, menu is great and the specials are always tempting. the food and ambience are very authentic along with good old fashioned american service (paris 66 beatsparisanytime with its service). i dined at garde manger in montreal a few weeks ago, and chuck hughes could learn a few lessons about how to run a restaurant fromparis66. in sum, i'll dine here at least a couple of times a month!!

lunch in paris. just got back from lunch @paris66 and am very pleased with both the quantity and quality of my meal. the smoked salmon and dill and creme fraiche sauce was the perfect combination with the buckwheat crepe. i definitely see myself going back for more..

enjoyable cafe for brunch.paris66 is an enjoyable french cafe.

went for brunch and it was so nice! had reservations and were seated immediately. there were some folks waiting, not reservation group, one said to me as were were escorted to our table. my duck confit was oh so tasty...just perfect for a nice brunch.

our server was busy but was very attentive...and very friendly and able to answer our questions.

delicious dishes. i went toparis66 with a friend last night. i had been really excited to try it. she ordered a sweet crepe, while i favored something more savory. we both had coffee. their coffee is excellent, by the way. my buckwheat crepe had smoked salmon, dill with creme frache and i added an egg. it was tasty and very filling. my friend enjoyed hers as well. our server was really nice and quick to remedy any problem. i will be back, but next time maybe for lunch.

for the reputation, our entire party of 4 was disappointed. the gnocchi, french onion soup, and cheese &meat board were very good. the rest was average. with all the other options in the city,paris66 was simply not serving what we expected.

i love a good cassoulet and had so much hope.

very happy customer. my fiancee and i had dinner atparis66 last night. we were going to go on valentines day, but we didnt like the set menu or the price very much so we went last night. from the moment we pulled up to the front curb of the building we were wowed. the facade of this place was very beautiful. it felt very french, from the hustle and bustle of the kitchen and wait staff to the french being fired at you from all directions. the ambiance was quite homey and nice. our table was nestled away in a nice , cozy little corner of the restaurant. the flower arrangement on the table was very well thought out and put together. the food and wine was excellent. i dont know much about wine, but their selection was excellent. we had seared foie gras with a fig reduction for an appetizer. they gave you two huge slabs of it. then my fiancee had the duck breast with raspberry sauce and a gratin potatoes and an oven roasted whole tomato. i had a ribeye steak with pepper sauce and french fries. everything was excellent. food was cooked perfectly. seasoned wonderfully. the wait staff was knowledgeable about every aspect of the menu. the prices were high, but you definitely got a good portion of food for the price. left very satisfied and will definitely go back.

6018 penn circle south pittsburgh, pa 15206  paris66 is a family owned french restaurant in east liberty.   it’s dinning room is decorated with french posters and pictures.   the space is cute. the menu has plenty of gluten free items.   just ask.   most of the items can be modified to be gluten free, just ask the knowledgeable waiter.   he told me only things with puff pastries, pastas, and the frog legs were not gluten free.   i was slightly disappointed about the frog legs, but there were plenty of other things to eat.

no more macarons to go. i walked over toparis66 since it's not too far from where i live and wanted to buy some macarons to go. they told me that they no longer do that, even though i was looking at them in the case. the man also told me that i can go to their 'sister' bakery in squirrel hill which had just opened.

this is just bad business and i told him this, but he said he wasn't. i told him it was since i wouldn't spending any money there because he wouldn't take it. this is something that they had in the past and i just can't understand why they would deny a paying customer an item that they want when they have it. their 'sister' bakery is not even close to their east liberty location if you're walking. this information is also not on their website.

great food, better atmosphere. saturday evening, my wife and i had the pleasure of eating atparis66. it had been a long week and we deserved something special. i knew we had made the right choice when i called to make sure i could get reservations and stephanie was pleasant and efficient and said she could fit us in.
upon arriving, everyone greeted us with smiles and bon jours. we were led to a lovely table for 2.
my wife started with the crevettes flambés a l’anis. the shrimp was dome perfectly and the touch of star anise complimented it well, without being overwhelming.
i had the foie gras. it was tender and flavorful, but the fig bread and onion jam that accompanied it almost stole the show.
next the waiter brought a palate cleanser, which was zucchini foam that left us licking our lips and trying to figure out all of the flavors so that we might have some hope of duplicating this shot of deliciousness at home.
for entrées, the wife opted for the steak-frites, which was cooked exactly medium rare. the béarnaise was silky and brought out the natural flavors of the steak.
i had been recommended the boeuf bourguignon, and while i was reluctant to have something as simple as pot roast when there were so many adventurous options to choose from, it was the owner himself who recommended it. i figured who would know better than him.
i am glad i listened. it is amazing how a masterful chef can take and elevate something simple into something so memorable. you could see the attention to detail in everything; even the potatoes were sculpted identically so they would cook equally.
to accompany our entrées, we split and order of cauliflower gratin which was delicate addition to our meal. a sort of “whisper of flavors” that you would pause to eat slowly to make sure you didn’t miss anything.
as we sat there discussing everything we had just eaten, we both realized how comfortable we felt. we hadn’t even noticed how warm and welcoming the space was. we felt like we had been transported somewhere else and had been welcomed with open arms. watching the families dine around us, it felt like we were regulars who had been visiting for years.
we just wished we had left room for dessert. oh well, i am sure there will be a next time.

the moment we walked intoparis66 we felt like we were transported to france (well, e1 and mm -whom you've met in previous posts) have been there, so they confirmed. to me, it felt likeparisin epcot, and that was good enough). we were greeted by baked goods and macaroons galore and the smell of fresh crepe batter filled the air.

nice restaurant but disappointed. i was a little disappointed. the atmosphere and service were great. the food was average. it was definitely good, but my expectations were higher. i got the blackened salmon dinner served on mashed potatoes. it was good but not great. everyone else liked their dinner but wasn't very impressed. the portions were also small. i would not immediately recommendparis66; however, the outdoor dining is nice and the food is good. somewhat disappointed. there are better restaurants nearby in pittsburgh.
