best brunch in pittsburgh!. and i say this, having had brunch all over town- it's probably my favorite meal. the eggs, crepe and pastry are all excellent! even the coffee is delicious. i have eaten here again and again. non-brunch meals are also good, mainly the crepes.
really cute atmosphere, as well- there is nothing else like it around here. thebackcovered deck is especially nice in spring/fall.

you could buy a whole week's worth of groceries for the price of one meal for two. the food and atmosphere is awesome, don't get me wrong, just way overpriced and so i probably won't be goingbackjust because it's impractical.

great dining experience!. i took my girlfriend here for valentine's day dinner. it really is a perfect atmosphere for a romantic date. the lighting is nice and warm, and the decor is french, but not cheesy. we were seated on thebackpatio, which was covered for the winter and heated.
we had the valentines day tasting menu. our meals were 4 courses. course 1: truffled wild mushroom soup with strawberry creme fraiche. it was very rich and creamy. it had the slightest touch of strawberry flavor at first (which was surprisingly good).
course 2: blue point oysters. they were very fresh. the champagne migonette brought out the oyster flavor.
course 3: lobster stuffed tenderloin with roasted cherry tomatoes, radicchio, pea shoots, and herb sauce. very tender and juicy. the roasted cherry tomoatoes were so sweet and flavorful!
course 4: white chocolate mousse with mango heart. very nice presentation. it was very creamy and not too sweet. i couldnt finish it though. i was stuffed at this point.
it was a very long meal. that's to be expected considering that it was 4 courses. my only complaint is that we were seated under the heat lamp on the patio. the combination of wine and heat made me exhausted.
great place! i highly recommend it!

exceptional. we had dinner on thebackpatio on a hot summer evening. once we got the large fan directly behind my husband's head turned off, it was much better.

service was excellent. we hit the jackpot there, as we noticed some nearby tables were having difficulties getting their food.

the baguette brought to our table with butter was devoured immediately. it was amazing and very authentic french, nothing like the usual "french" bread found locally as a rule.we started with the onion soup and it was the best i've ever had. fantastic complex broth. my husband had the moules frites and said they were phenomenal. i would have understood if he had drunk the broth but he managed to contain himself to sopping it up with bread. i had the filet, which was one of the best pieces of steak i've ever had. cooked to perfection. finished with a macaron and many longing looks at the other dessert items that we had no room for. we will definitely be back!

needs great improvement!!!. service was bad and food came out luke warm. took forever to get our expensive cocktails, vodka & tonic $9!!!!!! i had the seafood crepes and they very bland. in need of seasoning. the salad with it was only red leaf lettace and a very small amount of dressing. no tomato, onion etc. i make a better salad at home!!!! won't gobackeven for free.

paris 66. i ate here two thursdays ago with a dining companion. the entrance to the restaurant feels a bit cramped when you first get inside but it is also unique as you are able to see their bakery. once we made it to the hostess we were greeted almost immediately and given the selection between sitting inside and sitting outside in the heated patio. we chose the patio and were able to see almost all of the restaurant on the walk out. there were a lot of trinkets and items that would make you think of france and the tables were covered in white table clothes.

we decided to get the feuillete d' asperges which was described as blanched green asparagus in puff pastry with a hollandaise sauce. whenever it came it was immediately apparent that it was not as it was described as the asparagus was draped over the puff pastry. my dining companion also mentioned this so i know that it was not my thoughts alone. regardless of that it still tasted very good and we enjoyed it. for dinner i decided to have the steak-frites. the presentation of the dish was nice with the fries in a cute little basket. however i was disappointed with how mushy the fries were. whenever i think of frites i think of crunchy fries and these fries not at all. they did have a good taste to them. the best part of the entree though was the steak which was juicy and cooked and cooked to a perfect medium. whenever it came time for dessert we were presented with both a dessert menu and a list of 2 dozen or so macaroons that they make on the premise. my dining companion and i decided to split the dessert of the day which ended up being a layered cake with fresh berries. this was easily the best part of the whole dinner as the cake was moist, the frosting separating the layers cool and the tart of the lemon matched well with the sweetness of the berries. we also decided to indulge ourselves and each got a macaroon, myself the lavender and my dining companion a basil and lemon or lime. i enjoyed trying both of them and would like to try some more of their flavors in the future as it is not something that you normally see in pittsburgh.

the bottom line for me is that i would comebackhere in the future. the dessert was easily the best part of the meal although the entree and appetizer was solid too.

ok...i guess. i used to go there a lot with my friends and it's alright but i don't think we'll bebacksince every time the prices keep going up but the food quality doesn't (even though there are more options on the menu). i would expect fresh food for the prices now, but most of them are not...don't get me wrong it's not terrible, just not completely honest.

wow!. my wife and i decided to celebrate the last day of our 25th year together at this restaurant. we've been to france together and were looking for a romantic evening.
we'd like to write a lengthy review but we're both exhausted. we spent a lot of money, drank a lot of champagne and stuffed ourselves with steak, crab cakes and bouillabaisse. we ate crepes, chocolate mousse and hot chocolate for desert. it was an evening for the ages. the restaurant owner, the pastry chef and our server, linda (all french expats) treated us wonderfully. we really, really, really enjoyed ourselves. we felt like we werebackin paris. how lucky we were to have picked this place.

m/m. my wife orded the red snapper special. it came cold, of a leather consistency and was accompanied with plain boiled noodles - sans sauce. terrible. would have sent itbackbut this was a special occassion.

i ordered the tuna steak which other than being very cold, was ok.
the french bread was super. i had two orders of it.

great brunch!. the bistro is very cute, a bit small, but it was not busy when we went, so we had 0 service problems. the waitress was very nice and attentive. the food was pretty good. the macarons were tasty, and there is so much more on the menu that i'd like to gobackand try.

oui oui. i spend a decent amount of time around the streets of shadyside/east liberty, and was introduced to this place for lunch last week. i've been on it's street never having paid close attention to its existence before. it's basically like walking into a french bistro (minus the french snob attitude toward americans :) ) greeted with a "bonjour" and smile from behind the counter, we were seated in theback(which i'm sure is an open patio in nice weather) with heaters that kept us nice arm warm considering the 20 degree weather. our waitress introduced the specials with a french accent and helped with questions as the menu is pretty much in french. they are known for crepes and quiche and i went with the special quiche of the day baked with creamy gorgonzola and peppers. it was great! and my dining partner had the special carrot bisque which she stated was different, but very good. i would definitely goback- ideally for a brunch in the spring time to sample some of the sweet and savory crepes : )

much as i want to like paris 66, and i do like the food, i don't think we'll bebackany time soon. yes, both the hostess and manager apologized for the waiting, but... their service has been a bit worse each time we've gone and this time was sort of 'the last straw.' we'll probably go back, but not for a while.
