everyday french cuisine..... ...that' s exactly what it is, and it 's exactly what was missing in pittsburgh : une brasserie. before the opening of paris 66, i was only going in expensive restaurants to have a good quality food : soba, casbah, typhoon, point bruges, grand concourse for the sunday morning brunch. now , i go 3 to 4 times a week at paris 66. the food is extremely tasty, the atmopshere is very friendly, the decor makes you feel in st germain des pres . the owners fred and lori are adorable, cesar the chef and fabien the pastry chef are serving the top quality for that kind of menu (salads, galettes, crepes, pissaladiere, desserts) for a very reasonable price. it seems to me that it's the only place in pittsburgh where you can have the real galettes... i don't know any place in pittsburgh with the same quality/price ratio. the only problem ? it's extremely crowded...but what does that mean ? it means that people like it. i brought new people each time, who liked it and went back there. it's a really great place. we love it !!!!!

authentic french bistro. i went to eat dinner at paris 66 on saturday evening around 8pm and i would recommend this restaurant to anyone. this beautiful restaurant reminds me of a parisian brasserie.
the service was excellent. my waitress spoke english and french fluently. the food was incredible, i do not know any restaurant in pittsburgh that is close to what paris 66 does: french pizzas, quiches, real galettes crepes, pastry, etc... and apparently, the chef is french as well as the pastry chef and the owners!
the only negative thing i will say is the noise level from the dishwasher but after talking to the manager about it, she told me that they were in the process of bringing the dishwasing area down in the basement.
i am planning on coming to eat there at least 3 times a week, prices are so low and quality so high...
this is the best restaurant in pittsburgh!!

bad experience.. my fiance and i visited paris 66 this past weekend and left feeling absolutely sick. there were at least four reasons why we would never go back. first of all, the portions and quality of food were very low. the crepes were less than filling (and overly greasy) and the soup was cold. second, we asked to sit outside but later changed our mind when it was too windy and dusty for our preferences, so our waitress could only seat us at the table next to the bathroom, eventhough many other seats were open. third, we kept getting the evil eye after trying to seat in a normal non-bathroom smelling seat. we decided it would be a better situation all together. finally, one of the chefs was smoking outside of the restaurant when we arrived and when we left. it was not a very 'admirable' experience to say the least. one positive thing? leaving.... 1/4 stars.

great food, great price, great service. my husband and i went to paris 66 bistro for lunch on july 10, 2009. the food was outstanding, as was the service.

the food: we ordered the champs elysees crepes and were delighted with taste and the flavor of the crepes. the highlight of the meal, however, was the red pepper soup (this was the soup of the day).

the atmosphere and the price: the bistro reminds me of bistros in france, but the price is far more reasonable at paris 66. it is truly authentic french cuisine and the entire meal cost less than $15 per person.

the service: although we had to wait for a table, the wait was only 5 minutes. we've had to wait longer to eat at tgifriday's. the waitstaff was very pleasant and fast. the service is more "down home" style (in other words, the waitstaff is responsive and treats you like you are an old friend rather than treating you like a walking wallet). even the chef came by to say "bon appetite"! if you are expecting the type of service you would get at a hoitey-toitey, expensive french restaurant, you won't find that here. i find that to be a good thing.

overall: i would recommend paris 66 to all of my friends and can't wait to go back!

overall great food. i was very impressed by the level of french food at paris 66. i realize that yesterday there were two cooks missing, or that's what the hostess said when we mentioned we'd been waiting for 30 minutes for our food. the serving staff didn't seem to be like the reviews i've read on this site. i realize they probably are much busier than the day after the 4th of july, and i can see how you could wait an hour since the restaurant was rather small, even with patio seating outside. to be honest, as a frequent visitor to france, this little bistro was just what i was expecting. if you want fast food, this is america. if you want an experience of france, you have to realize that a bistro is where family and friends come together to eat good food and have a good time. waiting for food or running out of items on the menu isn't truly any of the servers fault.

my crepe was the pigalle, if i remember correctly, which had cubed chicken and mushrooms in a creamy sauce on top of a buckwheat crepe. i really liked it, and my wife thought that her (i won't even attempt to spell it) french pizza was excellent. the french onion soup was just right, not too salty but just enough to make it quite tasty.

my wife and i were laughing at the menu, since it says that it speaks english with a french accent. many of their servers there speak french, and you can hear the chef calling for objects or saying table numbers in french from where we were sitting. it was a little disconcerting at first, but it really fits with the paris decor and feel of the place.

finally, our server was quite hospitable, and regardless of what might have been missing (there was no more french onion soup for my wife when she decided she wanted a bowl after tasting my own), he kept us well watered and fresh.

paris 66 is sure to be one of regular places to eat on centre ave. and penn circle south. i'll be sure to get there right when they open to get the best food and no wait. i would simply suggest for the management to get a larger kitchen and/or new establishment. they are much too popular for that size of a restaurant if they have people waiting an hour to be seated!

great place. great food great ambience....authentic setting.it is struggling right now with some organizational problems like no food on friday afternoon, crowded waiting area that conflicts with servers getting meals....overall good impression ,a hardworking family doing it with a smile and a welcome "bonjour"

obnoxious waitress, mediocre food. -first, we had to wait 45 minutes for a table (though we would have easily forgiven that since the owner took my phone number so we could leave and come back).

-when we sat down, the waitress complained about having worked all day and told us that they were out of almost everything on the menu. when we asked what items we shouldn't order, she said, "well i can't remember everything we're out of, obviously." obviously!

- they were indeed out of the first couple things we tried to order. the waitress lectured us that we should have been there earlier if we expected them to have the things on the menu. not something you want to hear after waiting almost an hour for a table!

- the waitress argued with us about two of our choices---telling my mom that she should have ordered soup instead of greens, and arguing with us three times about which dessert crepe we should order. i'm not sure why she didn't want us to order what we wanted...

- when the tomato/basic crepe finally came, the flavor was overpowered by greasy pesto. i couldn't finish it.

- the waitress tried to take my mom's plate away while she was still eating.

- after waiting for over a half an hour for the dessert crepe, we finally just asked for the check so we could leave. it was so loud we couldn't hear each other anyway.

we would have had a better time if they would have just planned for a full day of customers, and if the waitress hadn't been so terribly obnixious.
