look we tried a lot of stuff and here's what to do. go with at least 3 people, preferably 4-5. get a large firecracker shrimp po boy, a gravy fries, and throw in an irish sundae for fun (potato salad, gravy, and 1k island dressing). the gravy has tons of roast beef in it. it's better in the gravy than on the sandwiches because the gravy roast beef is drippings and ends, whereas the roast beef style here is over-cooked and kinda tough for my tastes.

the bread they use for the po boys is a delicious garlic bread, and the firecracker shrimp is the best breaded shrimp i've ever had. it made the best poboyany of my friends have ever had.

this is my favorite place to eat in town! i find they have the best roast beef and gravy in the city. whether you want it on a poboyor fries (mmmmm the debris), it is ridiculously tasty. not in the mood for beef, get the firecracker shrimp po boy. great prices as well.

this is by far the best roast beef poboyin the city. the meat is amazingly tender, the gravy is thick and savory, and they use garlic bread instead of plain french bread, which adds a nice flavor and crunch to a poboythat would otherwise be quite soggy.

did not like it.. i have alway's heard about parasols roast beef!!well i finally made it there and i would not order it again.the beef was not tender enough the gravy just had no flavor at all.it was just messy and no flavor.it's not the worse sandwich i have eaten but not even close to the best.wife had the oyster poboythat was good but they do not give you many oyters but had a good flavor.my son ordered the chicken andoille gumbo and he would not eat it,so i tasted it and it had to have been the worse gumbo i have ever eaten.i t tasted sour kinda lemony could not figure out what the strange flavor that i was tasting.we did like the fries as that was the only thing my son ate.totally disappointed in parasols.and yes tracy's up the street has a better roast beef po boy.bear's n covington and slidell is way better than parasols also.

however, my favorite was actually the fried shrimp. it was the best po'boyi had in new orleans. the shrimp were perfectly cooked: tender but not rubbery with a huge amount of flavor. unlike many fried shrimp dishes from the northeast, the breading here was light and added a nice crunch. the french bread was also excellent, with a flaky outside and soft inside.

after seeing parasol's on food net tv and having some out of towners visiting us, it was the perfect day to head to parasol's for some po boys. we tried the shrimp, hot sausage patty and roast beef with an order of onion rings for the table. the po boys were all good and enjoyed, but in the quest for the all time new orleans po boy, we still have to give our nod to parkway tavern especially for the sheer quantity of shrimp on their poboyif nothing else. so if you have the time and energy head to parkway, if not, sit down and enjoy parasol's. it's win win.

the new owner took over in 2010, and this was our first visit back since 2007. the exterior is now welcoming, clean and attractive (and so is the ladies room). if anything the food is even better, especially the roast beef po boy. probably the best roast beef poboyin new orleans. we also tried the pulled pork po boys based on recommendations here on urban spoon, thanks for the tip it was great. wanted to get the bbq shrimp but it was on available today. ordered the tomato soup on special, that was fabulous, made from scratch. didn't feel like ordering the irish sunday but we work it in a sample and it was fantastic... next time. and there will be a next time.

gem!. we had dinner here last night and it was everything i wanted it to be. it is a nice little local bar. the bar is listed as a steelers bar, but it unfortunately was just a regular bar, but they at least had the game on.

the roast beef poboywas really good! nice crust bread and warm delicious beef made me very happy, but you need to try the home made onion rings. they were ridiculously good! pumped to find this little place!

listen to your friends.... i recently visited new orleans and parasol's was recommended by friends as a great local bar/restaurant. i really liked spending time drinking and talking in the bar, but the real treat was the food. yes, the food. i ended up going there a couple of times during my visit and both the roast beef poboyand the cheeseburger poboysandwiches were really good. i will be back.

this place is the reason for the saying, "don't judge a book by it's cover". the gravy fries are wonderful and the roast beef poboyis the best ever! pass on the shrimp po boy. it's just ok.
