a surprisingly quaint place. tried it because of the reviews and was not disappointed! great food, affordable prices. we had the roast beef and grilled turkey - with onion rings. not sure what the side sauce was but it made the rings even better! definitely recommend it - nice eating area away from thebarand smoke.

i feel like a fool. i've been a lifelong new orleanian. i've eaten roast beef poboys from all around the metro area, tracey's, sammy's, parkway, mother's, short stop, etc., etc. i haven't tried all, but in my 24 years i've had many. yet, until recently, i'd never been to parasol's. and for that, i'm a fool.

first off, i love the fact that i can order from thebarand drink a beer while i wait. but really, this is the best roast beef poboy i've ever had. everyone in the city has a favorite and this is mine. the gravy is thick and messy, you're gonna need some napkins, as well as delicious. the beef itself is cut well, not too thin, not to thick. if i'm not wrong, they use leidenheimer bread, which is always great, soaks up the gravy, but not enough to make the sandwich fall apart. i'm not a fan of mayo, so i can't comment on how that goes with it.

however, if i am ever told someone has one place to eat in new orleans, and doesn't have the cash to go to one of our many fine high-class restaurants, i'm directing them right to parasol's.

classic and the best rb poboy. since the new owner took over they can lay full claim to the greatest roast beef poboy. tracy's up the street is a joke by comparison. the meat is perfect as is the sauce. its one of the great "dive"barof new orleans. if they could just get rid of that crappy drop ceiling in the eating section! thats a real turn off from bringing out of towners for a second visit.

given the other reviews, i wish i could have had someone else's experience here. waited at the order counter for several minutes to place an order. one order went out of the kitchen while i waited, but there were people standing around doing nothing but looking at me in the kitchen. after i finally placed my order (bbq beef po boy, roast beef po boy, cheese fries, and onion rings, with two dr. peppers to drink) i got the drinks. they were cans of dr. pepper, one of which was crusted in nastiness on the top and the other had massive dents in it. whatever, i thought, i'll give them the benefit of the doubt and wait for the food. so after about a half hour, the food finally came out. one would think that the fries and onion rings would have come out when they were ready but apparently that was not the case. so of course the fries were cold and hard, and the cheese on them was also cold and crusty. gross. onion rings were passable but their sauce had this really funky lemon taste to it that was so unfortunate that i started just using ketchup to save my taste buds the embarrassment of it. the po boys were pretty decent. some of my meat was still cold, but after the rest of the meal, it was still a bright spot. i can't in good consciousness recommend this place for the food. maybe thebaris better.

gem!. we had dinner here last night and it was everything i wanted it to be. it is a nice little local bar. thebaris listed as a steelers bar, but it unfortunately was just a regular bar, but they at least had the game on.

the roast beef po boy was really good! nice crust bread and warm delicious beef made me very happy, but you need to try the home made onion rings. they were ridiculously good! pumped to find this little place!

parasol's review. i tried the roast beef po boy. it was amazing! very different version of roast beef than what i'm used to in ny. think "well done yet still tender and smothered and marinated in thick brown gravy". it was delicious. try it fully dressed, you'll need all the napkins they give you. the place is a great little divebarwith a very friendly staff. i felt right at home and will be going back next time i'm in nola.

no frills irish channelbarand grill. 11am-10pm. very irish channel-ish. despite the prissy name, this is a real dive. but a great one. about the best roast beef po boy i know besides ignatius. the fried pickles were disappointing.

real deal. not only embodies new orleans and the irish channel but also casual, simple, delicious food and a good time. in my opinion, one of the two best po- boys in town. great neighborhoodbardownstairs with a dinning room a few steps up. go for dinner and transition from the dinning room tobarfor a good night. go on off hours for no wait.
