awesome place to taste authentic assamese cuisine. everything is cooked in mustard oil with simple spices in unique style. staff is very courteous and helpful too.  we had the thali which has all types of dishes, so it is the best way to taste different items together. we also had duck which was great. we had a hot drink made of amla before lunch too (forgot the name of the drink). if you are even on a short visit to guwahati do have lunch/dinner here once.

parampara is one of the famous known authentic food serving restaurant . located at the heart of guwahati city, silpukhuri .
parampara is known to every assamese person and people do have an idea of this super great place.
i have been there a bazillion times with mine family for dinners . it's always amusing being to this place for deliciously yummy food.
when ever i am there i had always tasted the non vegetarian thali which have 12 various varieties ....
rice, dal, khar, alu pitika, chicken curry, fish curry and what not ?
the authentic flavours served is a blessing for everyone who wonders of an assamese restaurant .
i recommend this place is a must must visit.....

have been visiting this place from time immemorial. i miss the days when the non veg thali used to be just rs 53/- or so. i am from dibrugarh and whenever my family visited guwahati eating at paradise was always compulsory. the service, the food and the ambience were always standard and "axomiya". however, the food nowadays is certainly over-priced and places like khorikaa are taking its place. i seriously wish the management would look into the matter.

what do you do when you come back home after a year away from it . you treat yourself with ethnic assamese food of course . and what better place to choose than paradise restraunt near silpukhuri . the food here is served in bell metal plates . pure ethnicity show here . the food served here gives us a pure taste of how the assamese people eat. not too spicy . not to bland. just the perfect amount of spice .

arent they just over rated!
and the price also unreasonable in comparison to its likes. service not very satisfactory!
food quality is good, cant deny that. but just that you'l get same quality or maybe even better at a much cheaper price!

landed at parampara in paradise for dinner with friends. they serve authentic assamese cuisine. we ordered the vyanjan non veg thali (with mutton), and extra fish curry and dal.
the service was quick. we had ordered some french fries to munch on till the food arrived. big mistake. never order french fries in an assamese eatery. they were literally raw on the inside!
anyway the actual food came soon enough. the experience was a mixed one. the food served on the plate was not exactly as described in the menu.
khar and mutton curry was excellent. rest were average. the fish was too average.  the sweet payox was just blah, rice boiled in plain milk with sugar! the rice served was cheap kmt variety, though the waiter insisted it is joha when asked. any true blue assamese can smell joha rice from a mile away, and parampara definitely is not serving joha rice, despite what the menu claims. no second helpings were offered.
biggest con was the utensil. there were bell metal cutlery (kaanh) on display as decor items  around the restaurant, but the actual food was served in stainless steel plates and bowls...duh! makes no sense at all. you are calling yourself parampara and then serving indigenous food in cheap plates. big minus point for me.
the ambiance is good enough, with plenty of comfortable seating space and eye-pleasing decor.

decent ambience. great for family get togethers. limited menu. clueless staff.

the vegetarian thaali had a sampling of most of the assamese staples. the kharuli was a pleasant addition. the goroi maas chutney, a smoked fish preparation, was close to the home-made original. but the duck curry was a disappointment owing to excessive pepper and other spices in the sauce. the payokh, rice pudding, was delicious. there were a few preparations of lentils which are worth mentioning.

all in all, it was a good experience. considering the tragic disaster called jakhoi, owned by the paradise family in delhi, this was a pleasant change. we hope they can tune up the state of affairs in the capital and bring it up to speed like its axom counterpart.

good luck, paradise.

this is the first time i had a complete assamese meal. it was really late for lunch and my friends and me were very hungry so we were hoping to have some really good food, considering the many good reviews we read but we were much disappointed by the service, the food was good but served cold. i had assamese food later at two other places which i liked better...for a first timer i think one should try some other place but however locals seem to like this place better.
