most exotic dishes and common dishes like "mati dal", "patot diya xoru mas", lai khakr sobji ba duck, thekera tenga are missing. thali rate is way too much compared to what is served.paradiseused to be better earlier, now it is just overrated.

visited this restaurant after a long time due to lockdown with a great expectation but after dinning we r really disappointed . first of all they used disposable dishes which is looking very poor, secondly quantity of d food is very less and d quality is also not up to the mark. now it is high time that management should look after all this issues otherwise paradiseis going to loose his sharm & reputation

when i was in guwahati and ask anyone about local food, most of the people suggestedparadise(more suggestions online) so i arrived with very high expectations.
location:easy to find,on a main road in silkpuri,i arrived with cab so didn't need to find parking.

ambience: casual ambience with lots of tables.the time i visited was saturday evening around 7 om so expected to be crowded but found it empty,i was the only customer, strange, didn't expected this.

service:this is the field where they disappoint more, when i enter the restaurant on ground floor there were no one to greet, there were some table there and a stairs going up,not finding anyone i went up and even there no one was, when i entered the dinning area one staff came from kitchen.
as all restaurant was empty choose a table and sit,i was interested in thali, the staff was not having idea about food serve in thali, didn't have some basic idea.

food:i ordered a mutton thali,it was just ok,during my 15 days stay in assam had some better meal in some unknown places.

assamese cuisine favour fermentation and drying products as forms of preservation. assamese cuisine is characterized my minimal use of spices, little cooking, and very strong flavours arising due to use of exotic fruits and vegetables. assamese cuisine is a bit different than the rest of india but it’s tastes good and rich nevertheless. paramparaparadiseor simplyparadiserestaurant brings out the best of assamese cuisine and serves it to the city of guwahati. situated in maniram dewan road, silpukhuri, paradiseis indeed aparadisefor all the food lovers of not only guwahati but people from all over assam.
paradise restaurant is one of the most iconic and oldest restaurants in guwahati. it has been a hub of assamese cuisine since 1984. this place is credited for creating a cult following of the assamese cuisine. you can choose from a wide selection and versatile menu. duck, chicken and mutton are a must in every assamese cuisine. this restaurant doesn’t disappoint with its huge variety of non vegetarian dishes. the menu itself looks pleasing owing to the dishes written in the assamese language alongside english. the waiters welcome you with a warm smile and greet you namaskar in their traditional way. they are dressed in their traditional attire and the atmosphere is warm and peaceful. the interior of the place is very humble and soothing. the walls are adorned with the traditional assamese showpieces like the japi, a hat made with bamboo and decorated. various drawings portraying the assamese lifestyle on the walls takes the feel of the restaurant to a top-notch experience. the furniture is simple but with a traditional hint in them.
coming to the dishes, a safe and enjoyable introduction to the assamese cuisine would be to start with the vyanjan thali. it consists of steamed rice teamed up with khar (vegetable preparation with soda bicarbonate), dal, mashed potatoes, chicken curry, fish tenga, kahudi, kharoli, khorisa, mahor guri, payas/curd. the parampara thali is for the adventurous heart as this consists of pigeon or duck curry. the khar is a signature preparation made with the key ingredient, khar. water is filtered through the ashes of the sun-dried skin of banana producing khar. there is a strong flavour and aroma of mustard in every dish since it is the signature of assamese cuisine. the cooking medium is mustard oil. the subtly flavoured fish tenga is a beloved of the crowd. it has a nice tangy taste to it. if you are at paradise, you got to try their signature dishes. gooseberry soup has its own fan following. fish bamboo hollow is a traditional dish in which fish is cooked is a hollow bamboo. the fish gets a nice bamboo aroma and taste to it. bhut jolokia or ghost pepper is the hottest chilli pepper in the world. it is found in north east india. the chicken cooked with bhut jolokia is a must try to experience the spicy twist to chicken. the restaurant serves a large number of traditional specialities. fish in banana leaf is the all time crowd favourite.
desserts are a must to give a nice climax to the food experience. apsoch- aparadisesignature sweet dish is the favourite dessert in this restaurant. it is a dish you must try before leaving the place. you also get to choose some nice assamese beverage. belor sorbot is a must try. kordoi sorbot, pudina sorbot and gul nemur sorbot are also equally loved.
the food is priced a bit on the higher side. but the exotic taste and rich culinary skills on the platter makes the price a true value for the money. if you don’t mind spending a bit more and want to have an experience of the rich assamese cuisine, paramparaparadiserestaurant is a must visit for your next guwahati trip. the warmth in hospitality and savoury flavours of the dishes will compel you to visit this place again and again.

we are from bangalore and really wanted to try authentic assamese thali. we were told to go toparadiserestaurant. the veg parampara thali was really wonderful! i personally liked their dessert of puffed rice with jaggery syrup. the bamboo shoot chutney and panner steamed in banana leaf was also really nice. my friend had the non-veg pthali with duck, which she said was delicious

the oldest place to serve you assamese thali. there was a time when it was the only one to serve you the best thali at a reasonable price. but with time, many other outlets opened up and the price ofparadisewent up like petrol. plus they charge for everything except rice and the quantity isn’t enough so you gotta order again. so instead of focusing on the ambience, dresses of the waiters, focus on how to make your customers happy!

i found it a co-incidence that just as a visit toparadiserestaurant is a must for someone visiting hyderabad, a visit to the unrelated, paradiserestaurant in guwahati is essential to try axom cuisine.

located right on the road in silpukuri, the place offers no parking options. the lower floor appeared to be a bistro and the restaurant is on the first floor. well decorated with glimpses of ahomia culture, paradiseoffers a good ambience adorned with bamboo artifacts and kansa utensils. the most popular item was the thali so the five of us ordered 2 non veg thalis, 1 veg thali, kohol chicken and pulao and paneer curry.

the thali had its assortments starting with the khar, the daals and the tengas. the khar is usually made with raw papaya, mustard leaves, different vegetables, pulses, fish or any other main ingredient using water that is filtered through the ashes of sun dried banana skin or leaves. the second main ingredient, the tenga is a tangy / sour dish of mustard oil fried fish and cooked in a bamboo utensil.

both these went well with the scented joha rice. the kohol chicken was served in an earthen pot, but didn’t seem to be cooked in it. the pulao was rather strange. it could best be described as ghee rice with pieces of carrot in it. the paneer was below par and may not be the best place to order one.

i loved the experience and recommend this place if you want a blast of axom food.

have been visiting this place from time immemorial. i miss the days when the non veg thali used to be just rs 53/- or so. i am from dibrugarh and whenever my family visited guwahati eating atparadisewas always compulsory. the service, the food and the ambience were always standard and "axomiya". however, the food nowadays is certainly over-priced and places like khorikaa are taking its place. i seriously wish the management would look into the matter.

what do you do when you come back home after a year away from it . you treat yourself with ethnic assamese food of course . and what better place to choose thanparadiserestraunt near silpukhuri . the food here is served in bell metal plates . pure ethnicity show here . the food served here gives us a pure taste of how the assamese people eat. not too spicy . not to bland. just the perfect amount of spice .

landed at parampara inparadisefor dinner with friends. they serve authentic assamese cuisine. we ordered the vyanjan non veg thali (with mutton), and extra fish curry and dal.
the service was quick. we had ordered some french fries to munch on till the food arrived. big mistake. never order french fries in an assamese eatery. they were literally raw on the inside!
anyway the actual food came soon enough. the experience was a mixed one. the food served on the plate was not exactly as described in the menu.
khar and mutton curry was excellent. rest were average. the fish was too average.  the sweet payox was just blah, rice boiled in plain milk with sugar! the rice served was cheap kmt variety, though the waiter insisted it is joha when asked. any true blue assamese can smell joha rice from a mile away, and parampara definitely is not serving joha rice, despite what the menu claims. no second helpings were offered.
biggest con was the utensil. there were bell metal cutlery (kaanh) on display as decor items  around the restaurant, but the actual food was served in stainless steel plates and bowls...duh! makes no sense at all. you are calling yourself parampara and then serving indigenous food in cheap plates. big minus point for me.
the ambiance is good enough, with plenty of comfortable seating space and eye-pleasing decor.

decent ambience. great for family get togethers. limited menu. clueless staff.

the vegetarian thaali had a sampling of most of the assamese staples. the kharuli was a pleasant addition. the goroi maas chutney, a smoked fish preparation, was close to the home-made original. but the duck curry was a disappointment owing to excessive pepper and other spices in the sauce. the payokh, rice pudding, was delicious. there were a few preparations of lentils which are worth mentioning.

all in all, it was a good experience. considering the tragic disaster called jakhoi, owned by theparadisefamily in delhi, this was a pleasant change. we hope they can tune up the state of affairs in the capital and bring it up to speed like its axom counterpart.

good luck, paradise.

while traveling to a new place there is no better way to try several dishes in one go... thali. fortunately in guwhati this trend is well accepted too... trying parampara thali... paradiseis a well established restaurant with an elite dinning facility. they use traditional and heavy bell metal dishware. well presented menu and description of dishes.
to start with with amazing gooseberry soup with a traditional bread (biscuti type). ariya steamed fish, was out of the world, duck curry is was full of flavour ( only trouble was too small pieces full of bones ). khaudi n kharoli was very different... khorisa has bamboo shoot which i still have to build more pallet for...
the best was their traditional dessert... i just loved it...

this places is must visit if u really want to try good assamese food with great dinning experience too..
