prior visits we're great. however, lasttimewife went here she was given the wrong burger during busy hours. with that she had the burger returned. all kitchen staff did was rinse the burger off and remake it with what my wife had ordered. this doesn't remove cross contamination and isn't proper food handling safety and prodcedures. needless to say, not sure i want to continue giving my 24 years of business after this.

not sure why anyone would rate this place less than 5. the service was perfect, the serving size was generous, the food was very good. my family had the breakfast burrito, biscuits/gravy, and friendly face pancake. they offer pinon coffee. the ambience is 1960s/70s diner. the music was soft but happy. the owner was very friendly. no tvs here, you'll have to actually interact with other people. i will be coming back again everytimei drive through abq.

age discrimination in hiring policies?. the manager whom i spoke with when responding to an ad for servers didn't seem to want to admit there had
even been an ad when i showed up with a resume in hand at thetimeslated for potential employees to stop by.
the manager also refused to say whether or not the restaurant were hiring then later said several might have been hired. when i asked several times if this person were indeed a manager as he didn't seem to know what was actually going on, he affirmed that he was, in fact, a manager. throughout this would-be conversation, the person was gruff, unpleasant, unfriendly and in all ways intent upon repelling me, thwarting all of my efforts to discuss work options though i have over fifteen years of solid work experience, live in the area and am available for any shift. what i lack is youthful beauty though i'm not repulsive in appearance. obviously, his every action was geared to getting rid of me.timewill tell whether or not he has heard the last of me.

deja vu, all over again.... went to this place with my mother in march 1991. weather was atrocious, the place was packed. a clue!

1991, i had the blue plate special -- old fashioned meatloaf & mashed potatoes with a vanilla malt. remember it to this day. yummy.

2011, i had the gccb, and a vanilla malt. yummy.

this place can't lose -- a nostalgic reminder, if recreated, of that iconic era of the fifties. in '91, my mother (now deceased) had a great time. she graduated from high school in 1958 in san francisco. the legendary mel's drive-in on geary st. was the standard by which she rated the owl. the owl stood the test and was rated a winner. as we ate, we both laughed about the liklihood the "gang" from her favorite show -"happy days" would walk right in (laverne & shirley being the fav characters of all).

in town on biz this time, i enjoyed this place twice in one week, the firsttimei ordered the red chili-cheese fries and enjoyed the gooey mountain tremendously. the gccb the second was simply a hands-down, thumbs-up winner too.

as da' fonzz would say: whoaaa, aaaeeeeye, exactamundo! (referring to the owl's ability to recall an era of americana no one would be upset with).

recommend. man.

worth the drive from texas!. i live in el paso, tx and i have driven to albuquerque expressly for another visit to the owl cafe. my firsttimethere was on a family trip in 1988, and i made it a duty of mine to pass along the joy of this place to my husband 20 years later.

favorites: the beans served at your table as a tasty appetizer. i've had these as a regular serving and they are spectacular! the garden salad, complete with lots of colorful veggies, raisins, and nuts. awesome. the taco plate--four huge, tasty tacos filled with authentic goodness. the burgers are all fantastic. and my favorite desert is their chocolate cake. dark, rich, and cafe perfect. milkshakes are great, too.

service is always friendly and thankfully, the prices are more than reasonable for the amount of food you get. buy an owl cafe t-shirt, coffee mug, or post card on your way out to commemorate your visit. and take a photo of yourself with the one of a kind architecture of the place!

i spent tons oftimeon the road in 2010. it's not a glamorous life. for every incredible outstanding in the field type of dinner , i probably had ten grab-and-go, cheap, mediocre chinese meals in nondescript cities across the country. here are quick hits on some of the places i visited in 2010. we met up with some friends at marumi sushi in plantation, florida. this is no naoe , but the menu offers nice variation and the feel is very japanese. check the blackboard for specials. we had chrysanthemum tempur
