wow this place is jivin'. great food, good price, fun for the family. my boys won't ever forget and we are stuffed silly. green chile is spicy and flavorful.

prior visits we're great. however, last time wife went here she was given the wrong burger during busy hours. with that she had the burger returned. all kitchen staff did was rinse the burger off and remake it with what my wife had ordered. this doesn't remove cross contamination and isn't proper food handling safety and prodcedures. needless to say, not sure i want to continue giving my 24 years of business after this.

i ordered three take-out dishes, after first explaining in detail that i could not have seeds of any kind and my wife could not have cow's milk products. so before placing the order, i asked specifically if there were any ingredients in dishes that were not mentioned on the menu. i was assured that there were not. so i ordered a french dip sandwich for myself, a california chicken sandwich -- without the cheese -- for my wife, and a spinach salad for us both to share. when the server handed me the package, i had to remind her that i had also ordered a drink for each of us and also mentioned that we would like some ketchup for the french fries that came with my sandwich. when i opened the package at our hotel, her sandwich was missing entirely, there was no jus with the french dip, and there were tomatoes in the spinach salad ( not stated in the menu). we will be going by tomorrow for a refund on the missing food. moral of the story, however, is that as good as the owl cafe might be if one is sitting in a booth and prepared to verify on the spot, it is not a place i would recommend for take-out. all in all, disappointing.

a bit of a letdown. iconic/historic abq diner, with great decor/fantastic service, and purported the best green chile cheeseburger in the metro. well i will say this....it was a good diner burger. the gcc is one of a few burgers that i do not put ketchup on, because i want certain burgers to stand on their own merits. i did not get a lot of green chile flavor, and that may be design. they've created a burger your young daughter--or your grandma--can eat. so my non-local opinion is this may be the most popular gcc in the abq, not necessarily the best...

shortly before 6am. on july 16, 1945, some of the world’s most brilliant minds ushered in the nuclear age with the detonation of the first atomic bomb, an occasion which later prompted los alamos laboratory head j. robert oppenheimer to declare “now i am become death, the destroyer of worlds.”  the transformative event occurred in a dry, desolate locale approximately 35 miles from bucolic san antonio, new mexico, the gateway to the bosque del apache national wildlife refuge.  the scientists who developed the top-secret bomb had been staying nearby in cabins rented from j.e. miera, proprietor of miera’s owl bar and cafe.

great burger. traditional 50s dinner vibe with great milk shakes. i had the chili cheese burger which was great. fries were nothing to write home about. the bean and chili starter was also very good.

i thought it was exceptional as a whole . the food was exactly what i wanted ,comfort food chicken fried steak & sweet potato fries with a chile ranch dip . and the shakes were delicious . i had trouble choosing which one i wanted too many great options. lastly our server provided us with terrific customer service.

killer burger, great beer on tap, root beer shake was even better.... not your thing not the place for you, otherwise you won't be disappointed. great food and great service... a nice break for lunch while on the road.

not sure why anyone would rate this place less than 5. the service was perfect, the serving size was generous, the food was very good. my family had the breakfast burrito, biscuits/gravy, and friendly face pancake. they offer pinon coffee. the ambience is 1960s/70s diner. the music was soft but happy. the owner was very friendly. no tvs here, you'll have to actually interact with other people. i will be coming back again every time i drive through abq.

meh...it is what it is expected food and they give you food. you can't expect great food but they get the job done. it's not favorite but i would good back.

great shakes. don't miss their great milk-shakes; and check out the homemade pies while you're at it.

worst food ever. i used to enjoy the owl cafe, great burgers, dogs, appetizers, and shakes!! but on oct 17 i was treated to the worst service and food ever!! first off the waitress was not at all concerned with taking our order or paying attention to us at all! we ordered gccb and fries with a appetizer of shrooms and zukes, the burgers came half a hour after we ordered them and were cold and soggy as for the apps, the waitress informed us that the cook had burned them, but if we still wanted them she would pick out the least burned one's!! what the hell!!!?? dont eat at the owl, it will leave you utterly dissappointed !!

good but not great. i like the food at the san antonio location better but the abq owl has better service. the gccb is good and stands up to new mexican scrutiny. the red chile burger iirc that my wife got was awesome. i love they serve ibc root beer-turns out its one of my favs. i will go back for sure.

they have the best mushroom zucchini combo anywhere. two can share or you can make it a meal. they are large and fried to perfection.
