orchid sushi

thisplaceis secretly hidden on laurier, but the sushi by this family is very well done. i like my sushi from here cause it's made well and the presentation is amazing too. take out is a good option if you're living in centretown.

thisplacehas great sushi both in terms of ingredients and technique. the talented chef makes nice, tight rolls with the thinnest layer of rice around the outside--so more ingredients! i had the 14pc dinner combo and it came with comp edamame. next time i'd like to bring a friend or two along so we can try out some of their speciality rolls which, based on user photos, look downright delicious. i'd definitely go back and i'd send friends here too. looking forward to orchid getting their liquor license so i can have some sake with my sushi. the young staff is friendly and i think the chef even brought my meal out to me. fantastic.

best sushi in ottawa hands down.. i have had sushi from orchid sushi since they opened, a few months ago. first i have to qualify my taste and knowledge of quality sushi. i have lived in vancouver where you can find some of the best sushi in canada. for the first time in ottawa i find orchid sushi be as good, if not better than, most high-end vancouver sushi restaurants and the prices are very reasonable. i find orchid sushi's creations fresh and very tasty. i have head many items from their menu and i love each and everyone of them. they use very little rice and lots of seafood. the only use high quality and fresh ingredients. the kitchen is exposed to the restaurant so you can see that everything is made fresh when you order. this is a greatplaceto eat in or takeout. the service is fantastic. i can not say enough good things about this restaurant and i hope you enjoy it as much i do.

a pleasant surprise. i saw this restaurant open a few weeks ago, and decided to give it a try.
it's not the bestplacefor a romantic dinner, the "decor" is very basic, the centrepiece being a fridge with juices and premade takeout items. there was a bit of an "old fridge" smell too, but not too strong. theplaceis very clean though. it appears to be focused mainly on takeout, but there are a few tables, and we felt comfortable eating there.
overall i must say it was a pleasant surprise. the menu is very interesting, quite a few specialty rolls. sushi was fresh, very tasty. the presentation was great, very impressive (i doubt takeout looks as good though). prices are reasonable. we'll definitely be back. we chatted with the waitress, and it sounds like the chef is experimenting with desserts, and they might be expanding the menu.

edit: the fridge was gone a few weeks after i posted this. the owner obviously pays attention to reviews. the decor is much nicer now! i've gone back a few more times, and the service and food have always been top notch. a year later - still very impressed.
