best greekrestaurantin the city. we live in north kildonan and have no problem driving across the city for special occasions or at the spur of the moment. best calamari we have ever had, the ribs, pastitsio, olympia chicken and greek salad are superb. (those are just our favourites) if you haven't been here.....what are you waiting for?? andrew, sia and the staff know how to look after their customers.

first off, i have recommended this place any chance i get. we have gone there during covid and supported it as it was a community area small business we love. the food is beyond amazing, the staff, always fantastic. honestly, we do love it...and then tonight happened.

we went out as a family. my husband and i and our son. we all live in the same house. we wore masks coming in and were seated promptly. everything was as it always was - perfect.

about 20 minutes into being there two gentlemen came in, both wearing masks and sat at the same table. no problem. we wondered if they were from the same household, but hey, live and let live. then two other gentlemen came in, again, both wearing masks and sat at a table 6 feet away as they are seating people properly which is great. then, things get a little odd...another gentleman walks in, again wearing a mask, and joins the first two men. it was clear they were not from the same household and again, live and let live.

the two tables were chatting to each other from 6 feet away, all good, then, one of the folks from the first table, gets up, walks over to the second set of gentlemen that came in and proceeds to stand at the table, with no mask and chats with them for at least 5-6 minutes. during this time, the server has come and gone from both of these tables twice. not a word was said about returning to their own table, or at the very least, putting on a mask.

to make matters worse, the gentleman behind the bar, who i am assuming (and this may be totally incorrect) is the owner is chatting away with all of them. nothing was said.

right now in manitoba, none of this is allowed.

on my way out, i did speak with the person behind the bar and told them look, we love this place and support you but this is not cool. he said he would talk to them. i said, it is clear you know them, so if you are ok with it - what is there to say.

i explained i have kids working at other restaurants who are getting yelled at by folks like this as they are told they have to enforce the new rules to protect therestaurantindustry from yet another shut down.

i told him, truly, i love this place, but will not be back until this is over. i want all mb business, especially my small neighbourhood places to make it through this, but doing this is exactly why all restaurants keep getting shut down.

so for our family, we are out. olympia diner has been our go to for years, even when new ownership came in, but this, jeopardizing all restaurants’ ability to stay open makes absolutely no sense to me.

love olympia, but you are better than this. support local - that goes for all of us. you as a business need to ensure you are doing your part so that all of you can stay open.

my husband worked in greece for 5 years in the past, and he said that the food was authentic, even therestaurantambience, just imagine warmer weather, and it does feel like you're in greece. the food was nostalgic to him. they serve large portions too, and the prices are very reasonable. i liked their service too. our server was ashley and she was very nice and very courteous. we were greeted by who we believed was the owner too, and asked us about how our food was. there is ample parking space at the back of the restaurant, and lots of street parking. will def go back to try their other items on the menu.

hands down best greekrestaurantin town but be forewarned you’re gonna leave stuffed! super affordable, huge portions and great service. new look too since the remodel in early 2018. check this place out! opa! 🇬🇷

went here saturday after having many good meals here! i decided to bring the parents this time to enjoy some tasty greek food!
dad ordered the olympia burger with french onion soup to start with 1/2 greek and 1/2 caesar for his two sides. mom went with the chicken souvlaki pita with fries and salad. potato bacon soup of the day which is a tasty one! ☝️
my husband went with the veal cutlet and fries with salad as his choice with the potato bacon soup. and for moi, i decided to go way outside my regular.. i went with pizza... i've never tried theirs and my curiosity had got the best of me.. so i went with the hawaiian one with pineapple ham cheddar mozzarella pizza. had to grab a bowl of the lemon rice soup (mm yum!). forgot this place serves up garlic bread with the soup and they had fresh bread that day too with olive oil balsamic... didn't need pizza 🍕🙂
although the pizza was pretty good that night and the next day too, i'll stick with the greek specialties for future visits. calamari to start which was tasty!

service has always been great whenever we go here. friendly staff and big big food portions, good quality for the money you spend.

came here with my friend a few days ago for lunch. whenever i visit a greekrestauranti tend to lean towards chicken souvlaki pita just to see how their version is.
wow is all i can say. i was very happy with my order.
i took a page out of the heavy hitters book and decided to double up on salad - went with 1/2 caesar and 1/2 greek. the caesar was delicious and the greek salad could've used a tad more dressing, but it's probably best that it didn't (less is better for the waistline) :). kalamata olives is what i like to see on a greek salad as well.
to start, i added lemon rice soup and again wow, one of the better if not the best i've tried so far from any of the greek restaurants i've visited in the city. it was nice and lemony. a thicker broth and very good overall. yum.
our server was very nice and attentive. the souvlaki pita was tasty. chicken nice and tender with flavour.

i had ordered take out a few years back and i wasn't overly impressed at that time, but glad we gave this another chance because it was pretty fantastic 👍
i will most definitely be coming back here again and again ... ! check this place out!
ooh and big portions! great value for the money spent.

we found therestaurantpark very limited before we even got in the door, the window we were sat beside was in dire need of restoration as with the whole restaurant. we were served promptly however the food took 1 hr 13 minutes for 2 people and the place barely over half full. we ordered the ultimate burger and a ceaser salad between both of us. the burger was a favourless ball of grease and the salad was soggy and subpar for a restaurant. and to make it worse the food was expensive. never going again. some people may enjoy this level of service and give good reviews but i think it's terrible, save your money and go somewhere else

we were disappointed with our overall experience.  we joined friends for dinner
on dec 30th.  the server was pleasant however after placing our order and receiving our drinks, we waited 1 hour and 15 minutes until our dinner was served.
they were busy however this could have been made less demanding on the wait staff if there had been more than 2 of them.  therestaurantwas cold.  we sat the entire time with our coats on as did almost every other person in the place.  they need to raise the thermostat to make their customers comfortable.
when our meals finally arrived, they were very good, however not worth the wait or cold.

we had the chicken pita's with greek salad and an order of calamari.  the pita were amazing, the bread was soft and the chicken juicy.  as for the calamari, i'm always skeptical about ordering takeout calamari but this was delicious, therestauranteven slit holes in the takeout container to ensure it didn't get soggy, most places never think of that.

first time visit (.....but not our last!). did not know what to expect, although have heard nothing but amazing things about this place. my only experience with greek food is j&h and the plazarestaurant& tavern in kenora. we live in westwood.......and we can easily walk here. but, now wonder why we never have before!

clean environment, friendly staff. simple decor. very pleasant experience. a big plus is the fact that the menu is not overloaded. it's just the right size, with enough choices to make it interesting. that's important.....too much is too much. simple is better, concentrate on your selection and make them all spectacular.

entrees: mediterranean chicken & lamb chops

when your spouse says that she's happy, then i'm happy. the food took a while to arrive. but when it did, bang!

very well-plated. decent portions, friendly and attentive service (thank you, kendra!).....absolutely delicious.

the chef's get total credit on this one.....you hit it out of the park.

best greekrestaurantin winnipeg...hands down! i'm not sure what previous reviews are talking about when they say "not enough food" or "left hungry"? you'd have to be a gluttonous human being to leave thisrestauranthungry. the portions are huge and delicious. my wife and i frequent therestauranton a regular basis and find it to be one of our favourites. "diner" is the best way to describe it. great food, service, relaxed atmosphere and prices that compete with any otherrestaurantof its kind. don't go there with the expectation of dinning at a main stream chain because it's not that. it's arestaurantyou go to because it's simple...and that's what makes it great. a family friendly atmosphere because it's family owned and operated. of course things can be improved, including an upgrade to some of the dated interior, but the food makes up for what it lacks in style! either way it's one of my favourites especially when it comes to greek food in winnipeg.

not as good as it once was. this place used to be amazing. we'd gone many times and always enjoyed it. our last experience there was a disaster for me. first of all, the entrees used to come with a salad and garlic toast - now they don't. you have to buy that seperately. fair enough, i used to leave therestaurantstuffed, but still, i liked the variety.

the worst part of the evening was ordering the lamb. i ordered it rare. when it came out, it was well done. i sent it back (i hate doing that, but i wasn't going to pay that much for something that i wasn't enjoying). i then waited for another lamb plate. and waited. and waited. how long does it take to cook lamb rare?

finally, i asked for it to come in a to go box and the rest of my party had finished eating already. it came about 5 minutes later and -surprise - it was well done again. they did take the lamb off the bill and didn't give me any attitude about it, but if you can't cook lamb properly, take it off your menu. i was very disapointed and not sure if i will try it again or find a new favourite restaurant.

fantastic, every time!. been here several times in the past 6 months and the food is always fantastic. the calamari is amazing and tender. big portions and the servers are very pleasant, very attentive and always so smiley. the lamb is divine! it is not cheap, but it is worth every penny!

great food and great customer service. we went to the olympia for dinner, we hand a craving for good greek food, and were seated right away even though we didn't have a reservation. we ordered our dinner and an appetizer and waited for our food to be served. the appetizer, saganaki, was fantastic it was the perfect size for a couple to share. when our mains were served one was fine but the other was not up to spec. we pointed this out to the waitress and she apologized and took then took it back to the kitchen. unfortunately the re-fire of the one main took too long and we ended up getting it to go. however, therestauranttook very good care of us and made it up to us.

based on this experience alone i would recommend the olympia to anyone looking for good food and good service. congratulations olympia you and your staff have done yourself proud.

great food. today was our first time at the olympia diner. maybe first time lucky but i doubt it , considering all the positive reviews i've read. we were there for lunch. the decor may be tacky to some but it reminded us of our greek vacation so it was just fine. bright and cheerfulrestaurantwith cheerful, friendly and efficient serving staff. the food was very good and plentiful and came hot to the table. we had lemon soup with rice, a greek denver sandwich and a fresh turkey sandwich with cranberries. everything was done to perfection!. i highly recommend the olympia diner.

best place for greek. this is definitely the best place for greek food in winnipeg. it is a charming littlerestauranton portage avenue that serves excellent food at a great price. the meals are served consistently fresh and delicious; service is always polite; value for my dollar has always been outstanding. today we had bruschetta for starters, and for our entrée we each had a gyro with fries and a greek salad. can't wait to dine here again!

pleasant suprise. small quaintrestaurantbut don't be fooled the food is delicous and fresh not covered in grease and the portions are huge.
i've tried to spankopita and chicken souvlaki as well as the calmari... which was delicious one of th best in the city.
just a note - if your coming on lunch an hour doesn't usually cut it, so call ahead and pre order - give yourself time to sit and enjoy the meal!
