i would have to agree with the other reviewers that you can't go wrong with the prices. but don't expect too much with the food and service. the spicy spaghetti i ordered was not spicy at all rather lacking in flavour. thebreadand minestrone soup was decent.

pleasantly surprised.. we stopped in here during my son's 2nd birthday celebration for lunch and were very impressed at the feel and atmosphere of the restaurant. the food was delicious, and thebreadwas fantastic too. i will definitely be planning a return trip. the best forks food i've had yet.

(having seen the negative reviews, i wonder if part of the reason our experience was so good was because we went at 1pm on a tuesday when the place was mostly empty. i'll definitely plan my return trip during busy time to see if there's a difference).

extremely disappointed! terrible service, limited menu choices, the menu items we ordered were poorly prepared. the food tasted like bad microwave dinners.

the atmosphere in this restaurant is gorgeous but the food and service ruined the entire experience!

we were not offered mozzarella, we had to ask forbreadtwice, the it did not even come until we were finished w our food. we could not even get drink refils. never going back!

what can i say, overall it was a good experience. thebreadwith garlic butter was delicious, the iceberg lettuce salad with sesame dressing was boring and flavourless, the spaghetti with spicy meat sauce was delicious, and so was the vanilla ice cream. the very good elements and bad elements balanced out to an overall "good" experience.

service was friendly and quick though.

the bathrooms are very run down. the tilework and paint look like they were last done in 1996, the countertop where the sink is located looks like kitchen-surplus melamine countertop from (again) circa 1996, and the caulking is all dirty and gross. the sink faucetts were old, rusty, and wobbly. as much as i like the old movie posters and tall ceilings in the bathroom, they aren't very pleasant.

thebreadis fantastic, the salad-nothing special, just lettuce with store bought dressing. i had the spicy meat sauce, which was not very spicy but had a nice flavor. overall it was not a meal to be excited about but it's very hard to find another restaurant to give you a meal like that for such a low price.

the atmosphere is a bit dusty; the service subpar; the food okay. but the real advantage of this place is how affordable it is. if you're in the forks and looking for lunch, you really can't go wrong with spaghetti, salad (or soup) and a loaf ofbreadfor $10.

i dined here recently with a friend and it made me wonder why i haven't been here in so long, it was a really good experience.  the service was great and the food portions were huge.  i had the pesto linguine and my friend had the old classic spaghetti with meat sauce and we were both very pleased with the dishes.  thebreadis to die for, i filled up on too much of it.  i will definitely be back.

nice relaxed family atmosphere and pleasant staff. we were all very hungry so the "all included" with soup/salad,breadand dessert was greatly appreciated. highly recommend the braised beef and squash penne - really delicious!

when i lived in the rockies, i went to the old spaghetti factory in banff all the time. it was the most affordable place to get a decent meal. i've only actually been to the winnipeg location a couple of times. i admit that i miss the spinach salad option they had in banff. it was so good. i had the veggie lasagna which is always good and opted for the greek salad to start. my bf had the baby back ribs. he said his was very good. the food came very quickly which was almost surprising considering how packed it was.

the service in the lounge was very efficient but not all that personal. she brought out thebreadas we ordered which was also a huge plus. i love that whipped garlic butter!

great value, it even tastes ok, it's not the most flavourful pastas i've ever had nor is it the best, but theirbreadis really good. you really can't complain when the food is decent and the value is great.

we went to the old spaghetti factory for dinner today. it's a reasonably priced restaurant with consistent food. in the past i've seen it on a long wait to get a table but tonight we got right in and the service was pretty fast, maybe because it was sunday.

the value of the meals comes with what is included with them. you get sourdoughbreadwith garlic and regular whipped butter, a choice of soup or salad and coffee or tea and ice cream to finish off your dinner included with most dishes.

we got the calamari to try it and it was a rip off! it was alright but for 10 dollars and a small portion of underseasoned calamari and thick, tasteless tzatiki we could have gone without it.

the minestrone soup was perfect. i got the spaghetti with browned butter and mizithra cheese and my boyfriend got the spaghetti and clam sauce. we enjoyed the pastas but were so full of bread, soup and calamari that we took most of it to go. the meal was finished with the included spumoni ice cream, best spumoni i have ever had!

pros: consistent food, lots of food, well priced, good minestrone and spumoni, great location (the forks)

cons: can be a long wait, old, outdated decor (i guess that's why it's called the old spaghetti factory), atmosphere is kind of grungy and weird, calamari was a rip off

came here tonight on request of my little sister as today was her birthday. the old spaghetti factory is a family favorite for us and we definitely don't come here enough.
we love the fun atmosphere given off by the rustic look and of course the trolley (where we got to sit tonight, yay!) there has never been a time where the service and food were any less than exceptional. tonight there was no exception to that statement.
one of my favorite things about the restaurant is itsbreadwhich came out first, followed by a house salad with caesar dressing. for my entrée i had a garlic mizithra pasta with bacon and mushrooms. for the table we also got a butter and mizithra broccoli dish (what can i say, we're mizithra fans)
due to the service and being part of a family tradition, i decided to rate this restaurant a 4.0. it's a family-friendly and welcoming place that everyone can enjoy.
would recommend to others.

going downhill fast.... i am a longtime fan of the old spagetti factory from since i was a child. my parents would bring me here for a good report card and it was a real treat! so of course this was a given when my daughter and her boyfriend came in from victoria to visit....

the service sucked bigtime! i waited 15 minutes for our waitress to finally bring the refill for my lemonade, and this is from when she took my glass. we had to ask each time for morebreadand butter as well.

the food was good, but the mushroom sauce had mushroom slices instead of whole small ones as has always been before. and when the included ice cream came, it was barely half a scoop.

i regretted suggesting coming here for dinner- they just do not seem to care any more. and the total lack of a line seems to show that people are starting to go elsewhere. i know i will...

holy cow. this place is terrible. please don't go here if you are in the mood for good, decent, remotely edible italian food. for starters it took about 10 minutes for our waiter to even come ask about drinks, another 10 to bring them and somebread(who serves sourdough at an italian place??) the pasta was awful! my ravioli was very obviously frozen, no flavor at all in the alfredo. my husband got the chicken marsala. the pasta was still hard in places and literally had a freakin mountain of cheese on it. now, i love cheese, but this was ridiculous. he also said that the marsala sauce tasted like something out of a tv dinner for salisbury steak. neither of us ate more than a quarter of our meals, we were offered complimentary ice cream which we very quickly declined and could not get out of there fast enough. on a positive note, the water was great. very cold.

we ate dinner here last night. even though we didn't have a reservation, we were seated in ten minutes. we were servedbreadshortly after ordering our meals, and the salads quickly followed. we were barely halfway through the salads when our meals showed up. we were all very impressed with such prompt service. our server came and checked on us often, even though she had many tables to look after.

there aren't too many places that offer a four-course meal for less than $15. the food was excellent and nobody felt hungry afterward. highly recommended.
