old green bean

really like this place! it's a regular stop for us - great, healthy food withgoodatmosphere. the old green bean provides a welcome point of difference for anyone chasing something better than the bland fare served up at most bendigo cafes. coffee is roasted on site, and is easily the best in town for mine. if you haven't been in yet - do yourself a favour!

i've had coffee here a couple of times.goodcoffee, friendly service. the slice i had last time wasn't quite asgoodas i hoped (that was 6mths ago). the café has agoodrelaxed vibe. i sat back in a bridge chair and read the paper while i sipped. others were eating inside and out at either individual tables of the communal table. has free parking at the door which is a bonus so close to town.

nice!. i have been here three times now, once for lunch and twice for breakfast. great coffee,goodfood and reasonably priced. lunch is definitely a bargain.

outstanding. this is interesting, a little quirky andgoodvalue. coffeee great and the nachos, healthy and loaded. reliable on every level and a bench mark for other establishments

i love this place (and i'm not alone!) and feel the need to defend them against the last nasty and bitter review- having previously been and left a nice ish review the user (victorian dinners something...) claimed not to know what to do when they got there and that their coffee wasn't 'hot'. oh and then god forbid 'burnt'. i hate when people complain about queues, it means the place is busy andgoodand worth the wait, and i happen to judge a coffee on whether it comes out at a nice drinkable temperature, and is damn good. what did you expect when you no doubt waved down their poor old waitress? just ask for it extra hot in the first place (apparently it was your previous complaint anyway)and stop your negative whingeing. this is a gem in regional bendigo and i will be going back again and again!

best coffee not just in town but in general! food was awesome, staff are all lovely and bustling atmosphere testament to an awesome spot. new favourite!

i completely forgot about this cafe, i hadn’t visited for a few years until recently. i was not disappointed one bit.
my coffee was great and soy milk was ofgoodquality. i ordered the middle eastern roti this was beautiful also the nachos which are healthy and yummy and i love the simple changes to the classic nachos like the feta and black beans.
i will be back !

this cafe is always busy which is agoodsign.although 80% full, a table for two was quickly found. we ordered a strong coffee and a juice and the okonomiyaki and the cypriot grain salad. the menu offers a wide choice of traditional and international dishes. our drinks arrived quickly and the coffee was outstanding ( they roast their own coffee).

after a very long wait, the staff explained that something had gone wrong( these things happen occasionally) with the order. an apology and a free cake or coffee was quickly offered.

the cypriot grain salad had ancient grains, pepitas, pinenuts, almonds, currants, herbs , pomegranate, yoghurt and honey; a refreshing and authentic lighter style middle eastern dish.

the japanese okonomyaki was a generous serve with red cabbage, mayo, bacon and vermicelli noodles. different from the normal japanese style, served with vermicelli.

highly recommend for coffee, breakfast and lunch but it can get crowded.

apparently this place was busier than usual, when we visited. there was a bit of of people queueing in a rather narrow passage way making the restaurant a bit too crowded in my opinion. the food also came out a bit slow but the service was good, so i guess it's all right. we ordered scrambled egg on toast which was bland but i quite like the toast. the knife was horrible though, it was barely able to cut the toast. we also ordered buritto which was just okay, not bad but notgoodeither. it came out quite big though. as for the drink, the coffee was great, one of the best in bendigo. the tea was just okay. the tea cup was in horrible condition for some reasons, dusty and black if you try to wipe it.

great coffee that has never let me down! verygoodservice but some of the decor is starting to look a little tired. overall though, really great venue.

grubby butgood- busy lunchtime - had to order & pay then wait for it to be served. fast enough but there was something missing - no smile - no love. a couple of handmade rugs for outdoor diners had been left lying on the ground - nobody cared. we had a kimchee burger which was burnt & a chicken laksa, a coffee & kambucha drink totalled $35 - would we return? maybe once it's cleaned up a bit & staff look forward to serving you. it's not a happy place to be, though the menu looked interesting - the place has a cheap hippy grunge feel to it.

great place for coffee. it serves seriouslygoodcoffee! like it a lot! one of the best i try in victoria.
i also try nacho which i highly recommend it! just be careful of the cheese~ it quite salty.

verygoodrange of food, the smoothie was nice, but the wait very long around 15 minutes for 2 smoothies and 1 chocolate cake so quite long, the food and drinks weregoodlike any other place, but the building is quite nice

went to check out the old green bean because of its high rating and it didn't disappoint.

really cool atmosphere. coffee was reallygoodand food was delicious. service was friendly and food came out really quick even for the amount of people in the cafe.

so many things i wanted to try off the menu. so will have to come back.
