really like this place! it's a regular stop for us - great, healthy food with good atmosphere. the old greenbeanprovides a welcome point of difference for anyone chasing something better than the bland fare served up at most bendigo cafes. coffee is roasted on site, and is easily the best in town for mine. if you haven't been in yet - do yourself a favour!

number 1 cafe in bendigo! d.... number 1 cafe in bendigo!
delicious, interesting menu - highlights are the nachos - fresh and satisfying, and also the chocolate, fig and hazelnut cake, which never fails to make my day!
the coffee is consistently fantastic and the staff are friendly and helpful.
the only negative thing about the old greenbeanis their short opening hours and the fact they aren't open on sundays!
i highly recommend everyone to give this local gem a try!

amazing. this morning, my partner and i went to the old greenbeanfor brunch. we were expecting a little coffee shop, that might have been a little slack, and dirty.
but, oh my goodness, what a fantastic suprise.
at only 11:20am, the place was bustling, and the staff were absolutely wonderful! the coffee was honestly the best i have ever had, even better than all i tried in europe. i had a white chocolate chai lattee, and it was absolutely perfect! my partner had the big brekky, and my lord, was it big!? we have dined almost everywhere else in town, that has breckky, and not only was this the most well presented, but also the largest, and cheapest!
we have absolutely found our new favourite place! and i suspect i may have an addiction to this new white choclate chai!
can't believe i hadn't ever heard it being talked about before!?
move over t'hooft! xxx

wow!
the old greenbeangets a perfect score.
the wait staff were wonderful! our coffees came out within a few minutes of ordering.
the food came out very quickly as well.
i ordered the blt with a hash brown and fried runny egg and it was magic!
i also tried the middle eastern roti and the roti was perfect the flavours inside were great and the fresh tomato on top just made the whole dish come alive.
the coffees were equally as good.
a must try for all! highly recommended!

bendigo is one of my favourite country towns for a day trip, especially as it has so many amazing eateries. old greenbeanis one of those places that specialises in country hospitality without being too cliche. this is a pretty arty/funky venue in a great corner location. with three distinct areas to sit, this place is always bustling and there is a happy hum in the air as people mingle over coffee and delicious food.

i can never pass up the pastries cabinet as there is always an abundance of home made treats, and a piece of cake or yummy tart never go astray on a day trip. we also had the delicious hotcake, which was a big, fat hotcake served with poached pear, nuts, cream and a warm butter sauce. it was so good, and the texture of the hotcake was great for soaking up the delicious sauce.

the staff are just so lovely and welcoming and make that trek out of the city well worth the drive. the coffee, fab ambience and yummy food are a lovely bonus.

really cool atmosphere. coffee was really good and food was delicious. service was friendly and food came out really quick even for the amount of people in the cafe.

so many things i wanted to try off the menu. so will have to come back.

they do a decent breakfast here with some innovative and scrumptious ideas for both food and drink. great and unique variety from a drinks perspective too. perhaps the best thing about greenbeanis that it offers a variety of healthy options. almost anything you can order here is a win. i personally recommend the breakfast burrito, both the veggo version and standard. my latest meal the big breakfast was a little average though.

old greenbean@oldgreenbean has some of the mostly consistent food and coffee in #bendigo. their coffee house blend would be a podium finish for one of the best roasts in town of which is all done on site. single origins and specialist coffee is something old greenbeando rather well too. surrounded by a recycled clothing shop, cool kids/wait staff & kitschy art items on the walls felt like fleeting moment somewhere hunter s thompson wouldn't have felt out of place. service is something this cafe does well, however for out of towners knowing whom has ordered is always difficult due to the scattered line system. the food here is the most reasonable in bendigo you won't find better value for money anywhere else. i ate the large nachos at $11 just adds weight to the previous statement. i must admit these are the best nachos i have ever eaten locally with all the ingredients super fresh. can't go wrong with salty feta, black beans and home made guacamole. the fresh coriander is subtle and perfect way to finish off this dish. #foodmypants #food #foodie #foodporn #instafood #food #victoria

we've really been all over victoria this year, i think. last week, hubby and i made a quick trip to bendigo to visit a puppy breeder (!!!) and had to stop someplace for lunch. old greenbeanseemed to top everyone's recommendation list, so there we went. for drinks, we decided to share one of their specials - the 'pink lady'. it consisted of watermelon, celery, melon and lots of ginger, which gave it an amazing kick! i love it when the 'underdog' ingredient is used boldly, and it worked especially well in this case!

nailed it. old greenbeanwas a life saver when living in bendigo. have spent hours there and could eat there every day. the in-house roasted coffee is better than most you will find in melbourne but the drinks menu doesn't stop at coffee - milkshakes, iced coffees/chocolates, freshly made juices with creative combinations, belgian hot chocolates and they also became recently licensed. what else could you need?

produce is always fresh and good quality and the menu is varied. probably the best thing about the food menu is that ogb has catered to their heavy base of regular customers by having delicious specials that change at least once a week - experimenting with new flavours to share with everyone.

on the weekend you will find some of the same people that are there every saturday and also a large number of groups from out of town who have heard about the cafe. during the week it is very obvious that there are a large number customers there every single day. it doesn't take long for chris, zoe and the staff to learn your name and have a chat. you will never get that in the city.

old greenbeanis located right near the heart of bendigo city area, and is one of the most renowned coffee joint over in bendigo. we tried several of their dishes over the two weeks that we were in bendigo. their moroccan chicken wrap was fantastic,  with a wonderful blend of spices. i didn't care for the salad that came along as a side, but i'd imagine that people who didn't mind the taste of rocket leaves would enjoy it. the spices of the moroccan wrap can get a little heady though, so i'd recommend splitting the dish with a friend. moroccan chicken wrap baked eggs  their poached egg  their poached egg for this dish was perfect as well. mocha the standard of coffee was excellent, and i was sorely tempted to buy a pack of coffee grounds for my moka pot back in melbourne.  i wanted to buy this from them as well, and keep my caffeine addiction afloat for the next few decades. i had a mocha on the first time i went there. however, the thing that keeps me up at night would be their  iced coffee , which i had on another visit. unlike the kind of iced coffee (in singapore, at least) that has a dinky ice cube or two floating inside the cup and diluting the taste of coffee, old greenbeanserves their ice coffee with a generous scoop of ice cream instead. this is my first cup of iced coffee i had like this (i'm a total disappointment i know...), and now i'm a convert. must-try: moroccan chicken wrap iced coffee  check out my trip to bendigo: part 1! check out some of my bendigo curriculum (part 2)  here !

"beandigo". this place hums and screams urban chic. it epitomises all that bendigo stands for: it's arty, buzzy, electric and respectful. it's a lovely little piece of brunswick right in the centre of regional victoria. the crocheted "nanna rugs" draping the pavement chairs in winter are a lovely welcoming enticement to the treasures that greet you when you enter the cafe. on first blush you are tempted to walk out with the apparent mayhem that greats you: this place is not for the feint hearted - it's flat out! your orders are however taken quickly by staff who immediately make you feel like you are a long lost relative. any concerns you may have felt about the wait time for orders are soon blanketed by your irresistible desire to crowd gaze at the diverse range of customers who enter the doors, each of whom you are compellingly drawn to with a look of "do i know you?". if you are left in doubt, ask the staff: they certainly seem seem to know everyone, such is the personal service. the atmosphere is homely and welcoming. the most refreshing aspect of this place is the youth and exuberance it exudes in abundance. how lovely to see young people having so much pride and enjoyment in their work. the old greenbeanweaves an indelible golden thread into the tapestry of bendigo. well done to all concerned.
oh, the coffee is great and the food abundantly wholesome. it's a treasure!
