they promote themselves to be the best bingsu in sydney, and i agree! i would say my sample size is very large as i have tried many places in chatswood, strathfield and the cbd.

they are my new favourite bingsu place. you can tell the bingsu is good when the shaved ice feels light and fluffy. the ice also has so much flavour (definitely not watery). the bingsu we got also had nice jelly suprised at the bottom which we forgot about.

thethaimilk tea one is a must try, it is super sweet. they made the ice our ofthaimilk tea and it has jelly, cream and fairy floss. they also give you condensed milk to drizzle on top.

i've also tried the taro bingsu. its basically taro shaved ice with real taro pieces at the bottom. it was good but i thought it was a little boring since it was all taro. (not as good as the milk tea one basically)

this is dangerously close to my boyfriend's apartment but i'm not complaining 😂

had to head there early evening on a sunday to avoid queuing. nice frontal shop interior but as we were located near the kitchen, it wasn’t as impressive. bingsu was nice and soft but there were clumps closer to the bottom. not much toppings beside grass jelly at the bottom, marshmallows and cotton candy at the top.thaimilk tea flavor was not outstanding. price is a little steep when there’s not much toppings. look forward to trying other flavors next round.

required to pay when ordering. then waited over 40 minutes for our order and couldn’t do anything about it as we already had been required to pay. minimum order was required which was really weird. we ordered the brownie bingsoo but there was no brownie in it?? when we asked where our drinks were after 40 minutes just received the response “making”, wait staff was overall very rude. the drinks were terrible, just soda and and cordial with ice. thethaimilk tea bingsoo was delicious however all the bad experiences out weighed it’s taste and not really worth a 40 minute wait... management has changed recently and the quality has gone down drastically as a result. disappointed because i used to really like this place!! decor is still nice though.

1) taro bingsoo - tastes exactly like my childhood bday cake from savoy cakes with little treasures inside for a bit of texture

2)thaimilk tea bingsoo - extremely well executed flavour ofthaimilk tea

yummy bingsoo.

old school ka-fey is a small cafe on pitt street, sydney with an interesting interior with a metal piping maze along one side of the wall with antique pieces attached. the menu is limited with a primary focus on bingsoo (flavoured shaved ice), they also serve brick toast. seating is limited and not pram friendly. you order at the cash register and receive a table number.

we came for dessert straight after lunch so we didn't order much. i just wanted to try the bingsoo and the brick toast was considered but all the options had nutella which i did not like so we decided against it.

when we arrived, we had to wait as it was surprisingly busy considering it was a cold day and every table had a bingsoo.

customer service was okay.

we ordered a strawberry cheese pie bingsoo. to drink, we ordered athaimilk tea frappe, lychee curacao blue, and strawberry soda.

the strawberry cheese pie bingsoo took a while to arrive. however, it did not disappoint in taste. it was topped with cream cheese, fresh strawberries, fairy floss, and strawberry syrup. it was pillowy soft and melted in your mouth. it had the right amount of sweetness and can be adjusted to taste as you add the extra shot of strawberry syrup. the cream was soft and delicious when eaten together. it tasted like i was eating strawberry jam ice cream, it was so good. the fairy floss was a hit with the kids. i was however disappointed with the limited number of strawberries. i was however surprised that there was some at the bottom of the bowl. definitely a hit with everyone as the plate was polished off.

thethaimilk tea frappe was visually disappointing. from the pale colour, i already knew that they skimped on the powder as i could barely taste thethaimilk tea. there was so much cream on top as well, it did however taste nice.

the lychee curacao blue was nice, not too sweet. it was topped with a pretty flower. however, there was not enough lychee flavour.

the strawberry soda was topped with mixed fruit. it tasted like a strawberry jam soda, it was nice. it was disappointing that it was served warm/room temperature, we had to wait for the ice to melt before we could really enjoy it.

verdict: definitely try the strawberry cheese pie bingsoo for a cool and satisfying dessert. be prepared to wait as seating is limited.

how did it take me so long to try this!! the bingsu here is amazing - thethaimilk tea and taro flavours were on point. didn’t taste like chunks of shaved ice, was finely grinder, flavour was evenly distributed and it literally just melted in my mouth.thaimilk tea comes with grass jelly and corn flakes at the bottom, while taro comes with what seemed like sweet potato. wasn’t a huge fan of the sweet potato - personally think mochi would have been a better substitute.

this place does get quite busy so expect to be in line on weekends. we waited maybe 20 minutes to get seated. the downside to this place is that they have a policy that for every 2 people, you need to order a dish. so we came with 5 expecting another friend, so we needed to order 3. this really sucks if you’re already really full!! we ordered the matcha frappe but it tasted okay.

great delicious bingsoos & french toast + beautiful interior #they even hung a bike on the wall. cafe has a policy of 1 shared dish minimum between 2 ppl, or if odd no# persons then round up dishes required - may be a bit difficult if customers are full after dinner.thaimilk tea bingsoo is super nice.

we got the strawberry cheese bingsu, thaimilk tea bingsu and banana nutella toast. all tasted amazing 😝
the ambience is nice as well, except the fact that it's quite small so probably are not suitable for groups that have more than 5.
will come back later to try the other bingsu as well ☺️

i don't often give 5/5 ratings but thisthaimilk tea bingsu definitely deserves it! the watermelon one not so much. had to wait 20 mins for a table on a bustling friday night at 10pm, great after dinner dessert! 🍉 bingsu with vanilla shaved ice, vanilla icecream and watermelon balls. slightly bland, would have loved more condensed milk or watermelon flavoured shaved ice. 🍶old school milk tea bingsu - hands down my favourite! aromatic milktea shaved ice with grass jelly, palm seed and cornflakes for a bit of crunch! yum yum yum!

love this place!!!
although there’s a bit of a wait (but who cares), this place is a trend to stay!
fell in love with thethaimilk tea bingsoo on first visit. coming here for the second time to bring my close friends to try and i’m so glad we have a new dessert place we can eat at!
this time, we also ordered the taro bingsoo. the taro icy part tastes like taro milk tea (perfect), but wasn’t a big fan of the real taro bits underneath because i personally don’t like real taro bits.
but the fererro french toast my gosh....it’s buttery, sugary and toasted to perfection and with the additions of chocolate icecream, cream and nutella bits my gosh.
even though i should try other bingsoo this place offers, i can’t help but choose thethaimilk tea bingsoo because it’s so bloody good with a surprise of herbal jelly, palm seeds and corn flakes underneath. if you haven’t been here, what are you doing???!!

i loved this cafe soo much! the milk tea bingsoo is a must! the flavour of thethaimt comes straight through and goes amazing with the cream (which is uniquely delicious and addictive). the drinks are also very good and aesthetically pleasing. we enjoyed the bingsoo soo much we got another matcha one which was also very good. i loved my experience and the atmosphere is lovely as well, definitely coming here many more times.
