required to pay when ordering. then waited over 40 minutes for our order and couldn’t do anything about it as we already had been required to pay. minimum order was required which was really weird. we ordered the browniebingsoobut there was no brownie in it?? when we asked where our drinks were after 40 minutes just received the response “making”, wait staff was overall very rude. the drinks were terrible, just soda and and cordial with ice. the thai milk teabingsoowas delicious however all the bad experiences out weighed it’s taste and not really worth a 40 minute wait... management has changed recently and the quality has gone down drastically as a result. disappointed because i used to really like this place!! decor is still nice though.

9.5/10

1) tarobingsoo- tastes exactly like my childhood bday cake from savoy cakes with little treasures inside for a bit of texture

2) thai milk teabingsoo- extremely well executed flavour of thai milk tea

piled high and topped with a crown of cream and fairy floss, thebingsooreally is a sight to behold. it tasted as good as it looked too, the shaved ice impossibly fluffy and light, melting on the tongue with a refreshing sweetness, and a hint of bitterness from the tea. there’s even a little pot of condensed milk on the side if you like things super sugary. and that’s not even the full story. hidden at the bottom is a treasure trove of slippery jellies, and a handful of cornflakes, which may sound odd, but actually adds a delightful crunch to the cold creaminess.

yummy bingsoo.

old school ka-fey is a small cafe on pitt street, sydney with an interesting interior with a metal piping maze along one side of the wall with antique pieces attached. the menu is limited with a primary focus onbingsoo(flavoured shaved ice), they also serve brick toast. seating is limited and not pram friendly. you order at the cash register and receive a table number.

we came for dessert straight after lunch so we didn't order much. i just wanted to try thebingsooand the brick toast was considered but all the options had nutella which i did not like so we decided against it.

when we arrived, we had to wait as it was surprisingly busy considering it was a cold day and every table had a bingsoo.

customer service was okay.

we ordered a strawberry cheese pie bingsoo. to drink, we ordered a thai milk tea frappe, lychee curacao blue, and strawberry soda.

the strawberry cheese piebingsootook a while to arrive. however, it did not disappoint in taste. it was topped with cream cheese, fresh strawberries, fairy floss, and strawberry syrup. it was pillowy soft and melted in your mouth. it had the right amount of sweetness and can be adjusted to taste as you add the extra shot of strawberry syrup. the cream was soft and delicious when eaten together. it tasted like i was eating strawberry jam ice cream, it was so good. the fairy floss was a hit with the kids. i was however disappointed with the limited number of strawberries. i was however surprised that there was some at the bottom of the bowl. definitely a hit with everyone as the plate was polished off.

the thai milk tea frappe was visually disappointing. from the pale colour, i already knew that they skimped on the powder as i could barely taste the thai milk tea. there was so much cream on top as well, it did however taste nice.

the lychee curacao blue was nice, not too sweet. it was topped with a pretty flower. however, there was not enough lychee flavour.

the strawberry soda was topped with mixed fruit. it tasted like a strawberry jam soda, it was nice. it was disappointing that it was served warm/room temperature, we had to wait for the ice to melt before we could really enjoy it.

verdict: definitely try the strawberry cheese piebingsoofor a cool and satisfying dessert. be prepared to wait as seating is limited.

great delicious bingsoos & french toast + beautiful interior #they even hung a bike on the wall. cafe has a policy of 1 shared dish minimum between 2 ppl, or if odd no# persons then round up dishes required - may be a bit difficult if customers are full after dinner. thai milk teabingsoois super nice.

love this place!!!
although there’s a bit of a wait (but who cares), this place is a trend to stay!
fell in love with the thai milk teabingsooon first visit. coming here for the second time to bring my close friends to try and i’m so glad we have a new dessert place we can eat at!
this time, we also ordered the taro bingsoo. the taro icy part tastes like taro milk tea (perfect), but wasn’t a big fan of the real taro bits underneath because i personally don’t like real taro bits.
but the fererro french toast my gosh....it’s buttery, sugary and toasted to perfection and with the additions of chocolate icecream, cream and nutella bits my gosh.
even though i should try otherbingsoothis place offers, i can’t help but choose the thai milk teabingsoobecause it’s so bloody good with a surprise of herbal jelly, palm seeds and corn flakes underneath. if you haven’t been here, what are you doing???!!

seeing several recommendations saying this place was excellent, one day in the afternoon i spent some time there. first, their decorations were delicate and classical which impressed me a lot. and so do other people. everyone was walking around taking photos. then theirbingsoowas surprisingly great! i used to think that all thebingsoohad the same taste but turned out i was wrong. i had the milk teabingsooand with dense milk and cream it tasted even better. moreover, there were corn flakes and jelly at the bottom so when thebingsoomelted, i was simply having my milk tea.

theirbingsoois so good and so worth!! we got the banoffeebingsooand the milk teabingsoo- both were amazing and very generous serving sizes. the shaved ice was flavoured throughout and there were ingredients hidden under the shaved ice. normally, bingsoos just have stuff on the top but thebingsooat this place is very generous with their ingredients! lovely interior as well.

a super popular dessert place that is located close to world square. i have been here twice for theirbingsoo- the thai milk tea and strawberry cheese pie.

my fave out of the two has to be the thai milk tea with the fine snow shavings a good balance of sweet and creamy. it melts immediately upon putting it your mouth - if you eat quickly enough, it feels like you’re drinking tmt. inside thebingsootower is grass jelly and corn flakes for extra crunch, and on the side is condensed milk for extra sweetness. personally, thebingsoois sweet enough without condensed milk but it’s great for people with a strong sweet tooth.

strawberry cheese pie isn’t as memorable as tmt. the show shavings is made out of milk, so a little plain without the strawberry jam. on the very bottom, there are biscuit pieces and sweetened cream cheese. it is hard to notice that it is there because it looks exactly like the milk shavings and the taste is very light - but it is there.

the fairy floss on both bingsoos taste a little floury, like all decorative fairy floss. not my favourite but fun to eat.

definitely recommend coming here! but you may need to wait a while as even at 10pm, there is a long line.

my friends and i went on a nice warm evening for some post-dinner delights. it didn’t seem very busy but because there aren’t many seats, we had to wait about 20 minutes (we were 3 people) before we were seated. after we sat down, we ordered the famous thai milk tea bingsoo. the vibes were chill inside and nice covers on youtube were being streamed. and then 40 minute passes and ourbingsoowas still not out! worst was that tables that sat down after us had already received theirs! this really bugged us so we asked and eventually it came.

thankfully the dessert was yummy. it resembled thai milk tea but something was lacking... nevertheless it was good. when we got to the bottom of the bowl, the good part was there. textures i didnt know i needed! i had never been excited about cornflakes and grass jelly but it all worked so well with the tmt bingsoo.

what a ride of emotions. that’s the reason for the score. i will be back but i really hope they are more efficient next time.
