they promote themselves to be the best bingsu in sydney, and i agree! i would say my sample size is very large as i have tried many places in chatswood, strathfield and the cbd.

they are my new favourite bingsu place. you can tell the bingsu is good when the shaved ice feels light and fluffy. the ice also has so much flavour (definitely not watery). the bingsu we got also had nice jelly suprised at the bottom which we forgot about.

the thaimilktea one is a must try, it is super sweet. they made the ice our of thaimilktea and it has jelly, cream and fairy floss. they also give you condensedmilkto drizzle on top.

i've also tried the taro bingsu. its basically taro shaved ice with real taro pieces at the bottom. it was good but i thought it was a little boring since it was all taro. (not as good as themilktea one basically)

this is dangerously close to my boyfriend's apartment but i'm not complaining 😂

➕ the taste was great! i loved how the sweetness of the soft shaved ice complemented with the cream on top.

this nook in the wall is a dazzling mix of industrial and leafy knick knacks to complement your dessert dining experience! there are soo many bingsus available as well as toast. we absolutely loved the old schoolmilktea with grass jelly and cornflakes hidden at the bottom ($16.90) and a fluff of fairy floss on top! (yarm) we also liked the ferrero nutella toast although it was pretty sweet ($15.90). definitely a plus for aesthetics!

the only thing about this place is that you have to have a minimum order of one bingsu or toast per 2 people, but i guess that makes sense since it’s a small space and there’s always people waiting.

cute cafe located in the cbd, decorated in plants and greenery, giving it an indoor garden vibe.

we ordered the coco blue bingsu which came with coconut meat, grass jelly, and palm seed at the bottom underneath all the shaved ice. the flavour of this was really good! i loved the sweetness from the butterfly peamilkand the colour, the cream and condensedmilkthat came with the bingsu were also super delicious.

however i do wish the shaved ice was a bit more creamy. i felt like it was slightly on the icy side.

this place definitely exceeds its reputation about being one of the best bingsu place in sydney at the moment. it have the most diverse bingsu menu out of all the place i try before. my top favorite has to be the old gardenmilktea and the watermelon . the bingsu itself is dense and full of flavors, all the topping that goes with on top of the bingsu is not overly sweet, it combined so well with each other. the toast was huge, i expected the bread to be toasted more , but overall not so bad. i suggest don't come here on a weekend night, cause there're always a long line waiting, and once you finished, they'll ask you for the table, which i feel kinda rush. but definitely give it a try while you in cbd area.

had to head there early evening on a sunday to avoid queuing. nice frontal shop interior but as we were located near the kitchen, it wasn’t as impressive. bingsu was nice and soft but there were clumps closer to the bottom. not much toppings beside grass jelly at the bottom, marshmallows and cotton candy at the top. thaimilktea flavor was not outstanding. price is a little steep when there’s not much toppings. look forward to trying other flavors next round.

required to pay when ordering. then waited over 40 minutes for our order and couldn’t do anything about it as we already had been required to pay. minimum order was required which was really weird. we ordered the brownie bingsoo but there was no brownie in it?? when we asked where our drinks were after 40 minutes just received the response “making”, wait staff was overall very rude. the drinks were terrible, just soda and and cordial with ice. the thaimilktea bingsoo was delicious however all the bad experiences out weighed it’s taste and not really worth a 40 minute wait... management has changed recently and the quality has gone down drastically as a result. disappointed because i used to really like this place!! decor is still nice though.

9.5/10

1) taro bingsoo - tastes exactly like my childhood bday cake from savoy cakes with little treasures inside for a bit of texture

2) thaimilktea bingsoo - extremely well executed flavour of thaimilktea

piled high and topped with a crown of cream and fairy floss, the bingsoo really is a sight to behold. it tasted as good as it looked too, the shaved ice impossibly fluffy and light, melting on the tongue with a refreshing sweetness, and a hint of bitterness from the tea. there’s even a little pot of condensedmilkon the side if you like things super sugary. and that’s not even the full story. hidden at the bottom is a treasure trove of slippery jellies, and a handful of cornflakes, which may sound odd, but actually adds a delightful crunch to the cold creaminess.

old skool kafey is definitely on my list of the best dessert places in sydney cbd. before i start writing this review, i do have a confession to make. i have been here at least 5 times before and every single time i get the same thing, the old skoolmilktea bingsu.

yummy bingsoo.

old school ka-fey is a small cafe on pitt street, sydney with an interesting interior with a metal piping maze along one side of the wall with antique pieces attached. the menu is limited with a primary focus on bingsoo (flavoured shaved ice), they also serve brick toast. seating is limited and not pram friendly. you order at the cash register and receive a table number.

we came for dessert straight after lunch so we didn't order much. i just wanted to try the bingsoo and the brick toast was considered but all the options had nutella which i did not like so we decided against it.

when we arrived, we had to wait as it was surprisingly busy considering it was a cold day and every table had a bingsoo.

customer service was okay.

we ordered a strawberry cheese pie bingsoo. to drink, we ordered a thaimilktea frappe, lychee curacao blue, and strawberry soda.

the strawberry cheese pie bingsoo took a while to arrive. however, it did not disappoint in taste. it was topped with cream cheese, fresh strawberries, fairy floss, and strawberry syrup. it was pillowy soft and melted in your mouth. it had the right amount of sweetness and can be adjusted to taste as you add the extra shot of strawberry syrup. the cream was soft and delicious when eaten together. it tasted like i was eating strawberry jam ice cream, it was so good. the fairy floss was a hit with the kids. i was however disappointed with the limited number of strawberries. i was however surprised that there was some at the bottom of the bowl. definitely a hit with everyone as the plate was polished off.

the thaimilktea frappe was visually disappointing. from the pale colour, i already knew that they skimped on the powder as i could barely taste the thaimilktea. there was so much cream on top as well, it did however taste nice.

the lychee curacao blue was nice, not too sweet. it was topped with a pretty flower. however, there was not enough lychee flavour.

the strawberry soda was topped with mixed fruit. it tasted like a strawberry jam soda, it was nice. it was disappointing that it was served warm/room temperature, we had to wait for the ice to melt before we could really enjoy it.

verdict: definitely try the strawberry cheese pie bingsoo for a cool and satisfying dessert. be prepared to wait as seating is limited.
