nu nu's mediterranean café & market

i live in far nw okc and i love it except for the lack of good restaurants that have the "cool factor" that is seen downtown or along n western ave. nunu's definitely fits that bill. the food is delicious, they serve wine and beer, and the staff is friendly. with aplacelike this nearby, why eat at one of the many unoriginal chain restaurants where the food is bland and the service doesn't care?

man, i just don't get why thisplaceis so highly rated. very expensive - esp for lunch, no kids menu, & so so food at best. save your cash for zorba's or capers.

favorite lebanese restaurant ever. this is the kind ofplacethat when i lived in okc, i not only went with family every chance we got, but i would visit by myself just to have one of their amazing (and large) plates of cabbage rolls, hashwa, tabouli, and hummus. can’t forget the pistachio baklava & a tropical iced tea/lemonade. the staff are incredibly kind and welcoming; they’re part of what makes visiting nunu’s such a treat. i miss this restaurant something terrible! can’t find anything like it in my new city.

nunu's is such a gem and happy to live so close to this mediterranean cafe!  located on the n side of memorial road, between tropical smoothie cafe and yakimono sushi, this cafe can often be overlooked, especially since we've passed by nunu's several times and hardly see cars visiting it.  however, don't let that fool you.

upon entering the warm-colored cafe, you are immediately welcomed by staff and left to decide what you would like to order amongst their decently sized menu.  the cuisine - you name it - is indeed mediterranean (e.g. baklava, hashwa, pita wraps, dishes wrapped in grape leaves and/or cabbage).  we've been here a few times now, and our favorite is their beef kafta and hashwa (essentially rice with various seasonings).  however, if you are unfamiliar with mediterranean, definitely try their sampler platter underneath specialty plates!  this will allow you to try their chicken, cabbage roll, haswa, beef kafta and various other dishes that they serve.  you cannot go wrong with this choice!  the food comes out quickly and very hot; the flavors are just mouthwatering; there is many spices that seem to go into their dish but it still pays ode to the base ingredient, whether it be rice, chicken, beef, and etc.  it's just wonderful.

for seating arrangements, you can choose to station yourself anywhere there is a table.  on a random note, whenever we were seating ourselves, theplacegot packed fast with people!  i know that i have a picture of an empty restaurant, but trust me, a lot of people do come in here and sit down for a good meal.  drinks and other various seasonings are available at 2 bars on each end of the restaurant, so there's not a "true server" to your table.  but with that said, i definitely want to say that there is such great people working here behind the counter, who genuinely seem to want a good experience for you behind their smiles.  

so in summary, definitely give thisplacea try!  there's everything to love about thisplaceand is great to try, whether you want a sit down at a cafe/restaurant, or take out.  can't go wrong!

very good food, and just a neat littleplaceto eat. i got the sampler and it was fantastic. we will be back soon. the rice was awesome with cinnamon and almonds.

excellent!. i love this place. awesome falafel plate. the sampler plate is great too. very fresh, clean flavors. very affordable. they had different kinds of baklava. my favorite was the traditional. nothing bad about thisplaceat all.

love the food!. my husband and i love healthy mediterranean food and this family owned restaurant serves the most delicious food. very fresh ingredients and unique home-made tastes. try their home-made baklava, it's so good. however, the main dishes are what knocked us out. we love their sampler plate which you can try various food. jordan is one of the the cooks we have met and he seems always happy and helpful. the owner, clay is extremely nice, he made us feel like family. great food and great service! a goodplacefor healthy and tasty treats. yummm!

great in every respect - food, service, atmosphere. nunu's is a gem - not only is their food superb (lentil soup to die for, absolutely rockin' hummus, and the freshest tabouli you've ever eaten!) but the service is better than any other restaurant i have visited in okc. everyone who works there is so friendly, and you can tell their primary goal is to make you happy as a customer. this restaurant is seriously top notch in every respect, and i am a very happy customer that will not eat at another mediterraneanplace:)

delicious food. my husband has to eat gluten-free food. he smiles all the time while he eats at nunu's. the food is fresh, delicious, and they even have gluten-free crackers as an option to pita bread.

as for me, i could happily eat their food ( the food with and the food without gluten) every day. it is almost an hour and 30 minute drive from our home so daily dining there is not an option. when it is not winter weather we try to drive there at least once a month.


if i had to choose only oneplaceto eat out, it would be nunu's

precipitously downhill. nunu's used to be wonderful. fantastic flavors that made you want more. not anymore. the lentils and rice has no indication whatsoever of clarified butter, the salata has no piquancy, and the cabbage rolls (meat or vegetable) are as bland as can be. thisplaceis now like mediterranean deli on may.

middle of the road. table side service was excellent, flawless. however, having to line up at the counter toplacean order is nerve-wracking. i prefer to sit down and take my time to decide. if there were more room to stand while waiting toplaceyour order it might be a better set up, but i still prefer to sit because this is really not fast food!

the food itself was good, but not outstanding. yes, it was fresh, the chicken was cooked to perfection, and the spices were appropriate. i prefer zorba's for quality and service.
