went with steamed beef momos for starters and trust me we could have had six more plates of the same. the sauce had the right amount of spices and the meat was cooked to perfection. chicken noodles too lived up to our expectations. we wanted to try something different from the usual. om rice was the decision we arrived at. it comprised of a large omlette with chicken fried rice in it. though the omlette was good, the chicken rice was horrible. it didn'ttasteanything like chicken fried rice. the only comparison we could come up with was what is served in canteens at universities (the one's we've been to).
must say that the ambience and service is extremely neat. we were also given three pieces of watermelon at the end. helped us beat the heat. if it wasn't for the om rice, this would have been a 4.5/5. this place has a wide variety of dishes one can try. you wouldn't know what it's like unless you give it a shot. swathi

great food! we went here at 5 pm after a heavy lunch, craving momos. but ended up having the main course as well. yummy starters and curries; super spicy goodness; great service; and the ambience is simple and neat. we were served fresh watermelon after our meal, which was very thoughtful of them. also, if you have special requests to suit yourtaste(spice levels, etc.), i'm sure they they oblige.

whenever i visit chennai, the north east kitchen is going to be on my to-go list.

standardized flavours... realtasteof its nationality... simply different from normal dishes.. i would recommend this one for those who seeks different types of food...

i liked there food but thetastechanges everytime i visit. some time its great and some time bad. please do try to keep thetastegood as before.

the staffs are nice and polite.... but the main thing is quantity is very less comparing to the price.. the foodtasteare average.. we had beef noodles ,beef thukpa, chicken thukpa and a combo small potion. beef noodlestasteonly the smell of ketchup and soy sauce, cannot feel thetasteand smell of beef

super highlight first : they serve metal chopsticks... i was really happy to see this as soon as i got comfortable.
top to bottom manipuri influence runs the joint here, and they have a nicely spread out menu for u to check out.
tried the pork momos first, which had quite a thick skin to it, hampering thetasteof the filling.
the pork fried rice followed shortly, which was well done..
nicely cooked pork and fragrant rice made it the perfect fried rice for me!
i shall be back shortly.

the soup was not the usualtasteand flavor 😭

thetastehas changed drastically from the one we used to have before. the rice wasn't cooked fully, the bamboo shoot wasn't cooked properly.

it was okay. nothing great about it.tastewas above average. quantity was not.

i used to like north east kitchen.. but this time thw whole order was soo cold.. as if it was made much earlier. buttastewise its same as ever - perfect

a great place to try authentic home madetasteof north east food. chicken ramyun is must try. overall a great experience.

i ordered veg fried rice from this restaurant by considering the rating. the quantity is very less and it was not properly cooked. they have using raw rice and it was not even half cooked. and they have added more water so it was not dry ( it was not like fried rice). thetastewas even worse. i don't know how the rating is so high.

if you want to have authentic ne food with the focus only on flavours then search no more, this is the place. 

food:
chicken thukpa – a wholesome mild-spiced noodle soup with chicken, veggies and lot more of the broth; the meat was slightly crunchy, but the real hero was the veggies. the carrots, bell peppers, cilantro was all fresh with thetasteof lotus root dominating the bowl
chicken fried momo – the homemadetastewas spot-on in this dish; it was very soft while the crunchiness was only in bits and pieces; it had more of meat and with the chilli dip, this is good.
special meal all curry plate definitely has to be the most exotic plate i’ve ever tried,
mixed veg sprout – fresh, full of proteins and was sour
iromba – spicy mashed potatoes with green veggies, one of a kind
green leaves – kind of half-cooked but yes, definitely flavourful
boiled mix veg – broccoli, carrot and beans; pretty bland and cold
kimchi – spicy radish pickle; was springy with all the flavours
fried crispy nuts – kind of sweet, crunchy to serve as the snack
chicken curry with sticky rice – spicy gravy with soft chicken wings; with the rice, it was definitely on a different level
(need to try their beef and pork too)
to finish up the meal was a complimentary watermelon which helped to alleviate the spiciness.

ambience/price:
this is a decent outlet with good seating space and mall parking facility. there are no complaints about the service, but the price is of concern. not many would be happy with the quantity:price ratio (i personally felt it); can improve on the same.

i came to visit chennai with my family from assam and was craving for some northeast indian food. i was browsing the internet for a good northeast restaurant in chennai and i came across northeast kitchen which was the right decision taken. the food here was exactly what we were looking for, with veggies and meat adding to the righttasteand the food was deliciulous above our expectation. the hospitality shown to us by the staff was great and a big thanks to mr.ramayon keishing for making our experience even much better.

i will definitely suggest all my friends and known people around me regarding this restaurant for a great northeast / asian food experience and will definitely give it a visit next time i visit chennai.
