1 have been visiting the norman hotel for years and over the last three years the meals have have become less attractive in taste and appeal. the surrounding have become shabby and less appealing . it is apparent that the hotel has not been maintained on a regular basis. i will be reluctant to return. alan

easy business lunch. visitied on a thursday lunch, which would appear a good time to visit, with no lines at the bar/counter or wait for tables. rib-eye was bang on the mark. someone in the kitchen knew how to do a med-rare.
if it wasnt for work, could probably have settled in for a few arvo brews.
will bring my carnivore wife on another occasion.

worst.steak.ever!!! service was shocking, steak was over cooked not once but twice! if it wasn't for the beautiful building i'm not sure it would still be alive...will never go back.

best steak in town. the whole experience of the norman hotel is great. picking your piece of an array of different slices of cow to eat and the enjoyable surroundings make this place one of my favs....

kudos on the renovations and it is interesting to know they now have lasseters as new owners? not the ones from neighbours right?? perhaps this is the lasseters who own the casino in alice springs??

anyways, whoever the owners, this place is one of brissys hotspots if you ask me...any visitor must eat and drink and the norman atleast once....

another quiet delight are their oysters, although quite pricey, the kilpatrick is great

from entering one of the owners? did not acknowledge me standing at the bar credit card in hand. i had to wait till an employee? walked by to ask for a beer which he could not hear because of two big televisions blasting away on our side so by sign language i communicated what i wanted. to order another drink i was directed to another bar through two doors away where the communication was once again by sign language and after payment followed by a grunt. if it wasn’t for the chef who can cook a blue steak one would not visit this place.

brisbanes worst vegetarian restaurant. i have always loved the norman. most amazing eye fillet i will ever taste! you have to get the mushroom sauce, its amazing.

i must say though i have never paid for myself (my parents have taken me here in the past) and i am not sure if i would be willing to fork out $30 for a steak. if you have the moolah though, then go for you life.

won't go again. had dinner for 3 at the norman on saturday night. in norman-speak, this means 2 people sit and have a drink (and save a table) while 1 person lines up for 30 mins to order for the group. or... 1 person holds the table while 2 people line up for 30 mins to order for the group.

then when the entree is ready you must go to the counter and pick it up.

then when the mains are ready you must go up to the counter and pick them up.

then you go to the bar, wait, order and get your drinks.

zero service is not acceptable for me at this price point.

meat lover. i love going to the norman for the steak. it's consistently good meat cooked well (almost always), and the accompaniments work. i guess that's why they've been doing the same for lots and lots of years!

what i don't like is the cattle-like line up to order your steaks. often the line can take more than 30 mins which is not ideal when you have gone to dinner to catch up with friends or celebrate an event. and then you have to go and collect your meal when it's done. i know it's a pub, but when you're paying $30+ for a steak, some service would be nice.

i have travelled all over australia and this would have to be the worst place i have ever eaten at. for what we had prices we’re disgusting. food was terrible and service was nonexistent. would not recommend to anyone who enjoys nice food and good service all staff. do yourself a favour and go else where.

our group of five meatlovers visited for a pre-xmas 2020 dinner. the char grilled steaks are usually spot on and this time round all the steaks were perfect. all our meals came with a tossed salad and a choice of fries, baked jacket potato or mashed potato.

service was a tad slow due to the crowd. overall, a very enjoyable get-together. thanks guys!

dine here at night and you won't be disappointed. the ambience is welcoming and comforting in accompaniment with the food. the steaks are well selected, fresh and cooked to your taste. everything here is well balance. a nice quality steak with nothing to fault.

they say they’re the worst vegetarian restaurant in town and that’s true. but they do surely serve the best steak around.
this place is our monthly must go one for its steak, baked potatoes and the beer garden vibe. love it.

came here last december, the place was packed with people celebrating christmas, thus the rather slow service.

ordered a bunch of different meat cuts, including the rump and eye fillet. all of them were cooked perfectly as ordered. unfortunately, some of the meat cuts were tough to cut and hard to chew. the sides including the chips, the potato mash, baked potato, and the salads were tasty. the mushroom sauces and pepper were perfectly seasoned too.

it was an okay experience. would definitely choose the meat cut properly when i come back here.

ultimately didn't meet expectations in the service department. the rump steak was large and cooked medium rare to perfection. but for the size of the steak the sauce portion was not close to enough. mash potatoes and coleslaw were good standard.

we had 2 starters to share and at no time during the meal did staff clear these plates and dishes or the service tray from the table (as meals are self collected).

also i was shocked that my request for my soft drink to be served in a schooner glass was refused by the barman. it seems like a pretty simple request and surely serving larger glasses supports those who do not wish to purchase an alcoholic beverage on that occasion.

overall food good, service poor. the experience not worth the $ overall. 3 stars.
