no frill bar and grill

excellent restaurant. amazing food, prices that go right along with the quality & quantity. i'm not reviewing it as a bar because i'm not a drinker and only go to dine. i wouldn't even refer to this location as a bar anyhow. more like a restaurant that just so happens to serve alcohol.

bottom line is - thefoodis outstanding and the staff is wonderful. if you want to really treat yourself and leave with a smile and pleased feeling.....make the drive to norfolk and stop into the no frill grill. **** 4 stars from me!

adequate service, great food. came here for my graduation lunch with a couple of other graduates and their parents and was pleased to find that not only did they offer a variety of interesting vegetarian options, but that they were extremely tasty as well. my mother had some sort of salad with flank steak on top that she particularly liked so i can't say anything against thefoodbut our table service was a little slow, i understand we were a large party but we had called ahead and made a reservation so i'm not really sure what the problem was. anyway, we will definitely be back.

great lunch!. i stopped by the no frill bar and grill for lunch. finding this place isn't as easy at seems with all the one way streets in the ghent area. however i succeeded. upon entering i was hit with a great smell of fresh cooking. the place is very clean and lively. the interior was decorated very nicely with lots of original art on the walls. we were greeted and seated by a very nice hostess who took our drink orders immediately and left us to check out the menu. the menu is well thought out with lots for every taste. they have a great selection of sandwiches. i was attracted to the club sandwich, as always. but this time i was intrigued because they use pastrami instead of ham on their club. i have never seen that before. so i ordered the club on multi-grain with fries and an iced tea. thefoodcame out very quickly. presentation was very nice. my sandwich was plated evenly, and i was glad to see cut correctly and traditionally in four triangles. the bread was freshly toasted and had great body. the lettuce and tomato were crisp and cold, the mayo was creamy and not smothering, the turkey was fresh sliced and very tasty, the real star i must say though was the pastrami! delicious! it was salty, slow cooked flavor was the perfect compliment to this club. i was impressed with the idea and will most likely be stealing it for my own from now on. the fries were crinkle cut variety (bonus), they were cooked perfectly and golden. my iced tea was cold and refreshing, and definitely brewed today. our server was fast efficient and friendly. we even had a nice table visit by the manager who was really friendly and shared some history with us about no frill bar and grill. it wasn't to loud or cold. it was very pleasant. this is a great place to take lunch, or bring a client for a meeting. i recommend no frill bar and grill. i will be back. nicely done no frill!

yummmm. this is my favorite bar/grill in norfolk. the hubby isnt as fond of it for dinner since the bestfooditems are salads, burgers, sandwiches, etc but it is teh greatest place to go for lunch!

no thrill at no frill !. once thought this was a great place to eat - no longer. our main course came out only 5 minutes after our apps.foodwas not hot when they brought it and server could not have cared less. so many other great choices in ghent - suggest you pass no frill by and move on to a more relaxed pace meal elsewhere.

no grill grill is a great restaurant they treated my friends with the utmost respect and made greatfoodthat was reasonably priced and tasted delicious would recommend to people.

excellent place to eat usually busy . but thefoodno matter how busy is usually timely which amazes me and it's wonderful ! full of flavor ! one thing that gets my goat however is the bathrooms . when the restaurant is full there's almost always a wait . it's annoying especially when you just need to wash you hands ! other than that no complaints:)

we've been to no frill many times when we lived in ghent and love that we can come home with a full meal size leftovers each! thefoodis pretty decent, some stuff is better than others and we would definitely go back as you can see weve been there many times. service is always really good though despite them being really busy all the time! beware you may have to wait for a table but it's worth it to have a good meal. i will say it's very loud in there so when my grandparents came they didn't really like it, but there's nothing they can do about that. just personal preference! if you've never been, i recommend trying it!

hampton road favorite. as a local this is always a go to restaurant. thefoodis consistently outstanding. atmosphere is up beat and lively. service has always been wonderful. you cannot go wrong with any of their salads and sandwiches. their homemade salad dressings are always tasty and give this place an advantage. i love their pierogi appetizer, esp. when it's served with freshly chopped bacon. if you still have any room, or if you have kids, go for the ice cream and chocolate chip cookie dessert, another favorite. this place knows about running a high quality restaurant, and it shows.

bestfoodever!. we have been eating at the no frill grill for over 10 years. this is the best place for anything they have on the menu. their sandwiches are to die for. i really enjoy the "spotswood special". there is no sandwich like it anywhere that i am aware of. the portions are always huge, the staff is friendly and effecient and the prices are reasonable. i cannot wait to go back again.

bring an appetite!. the building itself was alright. soundproofing could really be improved. with that being said, thefoodwas to die for! my boyfriend and i recently moved to norfolk so we are trying to explore to places. we ordered the spinach and artichoke dip and it was amazing. i don't recall my boyfriend's entree but it was a restaurant original. it was a little salty but so good! i ordered the crab cakes, i like to test places on my favorite foods, and they did not disappoint! i'd recommend it to anyone.

you always know it's gonna be good here.. this place is a no brainer if you want to grab grab a really good dinner down in ghent. i recently had a team building dinner here with co-workers and man did we wreck the place.

i would say that there was about 12-14 of us having dinner on the evening we stopped in. it was a monday night and we had a waitress all to ourselves. even though our party was huge she was able to stay on top of it and had the orders coming out correctly. 1st drinks, then apps, then entree's with no problems at all. in fact i was quite impressed.

i had he meat loaf dinner which came with some onion rings on top and sides of steamed green beans and some corn bread. i have to say while the meal was delicious that the corn bread was really the star of this meal. in fact it's the best corn bread i've ever had period. i don't know what they do to it, but it's light years ahead of even my mothers cooking. really good stuff indeed.

i skipped desert however the ladies that were sitting at my end of the table each had something and i snapped some pictures of those as well. they all looked delicious.

i had a fantastic cheesesteak for lunch here today. while the place was packed to the hilt, we were seated in about 5 minutes and service was brisk. i don't think 10 minutes passed from the time we ordered ourfooduntil it was placed in front of us. our waitress keep the tea full and followed up to make sure we had everything we needed.

great!. i went here with my family and we loved the food. we got there early around 6:30 and by 7 they were packed. i suggest you get there early and ready to be hungry. the service was great and thefoodwas worth going back to again.
