update: i lowered the score of the restaursnt from 4.5 to 4 because i recently got the chance to dine here again, ordering the same set menu, and well, i had a few gripes with the sevice and the food. here they are:
i felt that the waiters neglected us. they werent regularly checking whether we needed water and i even had to ask them to light the candle for us (which was supposedly had to be lighted from the beginning).
the food was served cold compared to the first time i went there. especually for the main course, it was a huge no no.
got the degustation paris(trio of oyster for the appetizer, pumpkin soup, honey glazed grilled salmon and us braised short ribs for the main, chocolate cake and mango pavlova for dessert, red wine for drinks).
the trio of oysters was a great start to our meal, my favorite of which was the baked oyster with foie gras.
the pumpkin soup was so-so. it was not as creamy as i hoped that it would be. some people might think that the serving is small, but it was just right for us.
the salmon for main was great, it was just bursting with flavor, but the u.s. braised short ribs was the star of the show here. the ribs coupled with the risotto is to die for, i was about to cry because it was just too damn good.
for the dessert, the mango pavlova was...forgettable, to say the least, but the chocolate cake was extremely rich, it sort of reminded me of a lava cake. make sure to drink the milk that comes along with the chocolate cake while you're eating the cake.
the ambiance was romantic, though i could still hear the tricycles passing by the restaurant because we were seated relatively near the main entrance. make sure to be seated at a gazebo(if ever you'd opt for a gazebo, btw) that's near the main building of the restaurant itself for a better experience. the waiter was dependable, and i appreciated the fact that he took the initiative to ask us whether or not we wanted our pictures to be taken.
