nick's san clemente

coming live from oklahoma! we checked nicks out insanclemente on vacation and it was a great experience! we had awesome service and the food was phenomenal. we had the bacon deviled eggs and the asparagus fries.. and split the fried chicken for dinner with an extra side of "their play" on mac and cheese. yes yes yes!

an excellent choose for dinner. not that expensive for fine dining especially when you can run across the road to the liquor store, the first bottle has no corkage. service was excellent and the atmosphere was really lovely. every recommendation was a hit.

the entree of prawn taquitos is a must have. a large very taste prawn was the centrepiece. we also had the ribs and they were happy to serve it with any of their sides so we had mac and cheese (actually it was orichette and cheese) and charred corn. both were excellent choices. the dessert was divine.

first wine bottle at table has no corkage fee. if you would like some water, don't ask for "water". just trust me on this. however, the "antipodes" sparkling water from new zealand will satisfy evensanpellegrino fans. the kale and quinoa salad is unforgettable. oh did i mention about there being no wine corkage fee on the first bottle?

not as impressed as i hoped. i came to nick'ssanclemente last night sure this would be a favorite. the place is highly recommended and looks so inviting.

i ordered the bone-in ribeye with roasted vegetables. the steak was a nice portion size but was sadly under seasoned. texture wise it felt like it was from frozen, and not fresh cut. the roasted vegetables were dark, bitter and way overcooked. wait staff was friendly and attentive.

others in my party made a better choice than i did with the grilled mahi-mahi. each finished their dinner and really enjoyed it.

i'd try this place again, but would opt not to order the beef.

fantastic. this place is great! food and service excellant! i hope they get some warm weather soon cause the open air windowless front gets chilly at night in the winter. dispite that we had a group of 5 all had a outstanding meal. just what south county andsanclemente need right now.

good new del mar spot. ever since i heard about nick's opening insanclemente, i've been really excited to try it. the decor is really modern and simple, very similar to "the shore" just a few doors up del mar. there's patio seating, indoor tables and booths, as well as a full bar with in my opinion one of the best beer selections insanclemente. the menu has a nice variety of classic american food, salads, burgers, steaks, and seafood. i ordered the short rib sliders with thai peanut coleslaw, and some ahi tartare and fried asparagus to start things off. the asparagus was served with ranch dressing and tasted pretty standard. the ahi was excellent, served on thick tortilla chips with guacamole and a squirt of chili mayo, it was my favorite dish. the sliders were good for the price, the pork was tender and flavorful and topped with thin fried onion rings, it was just a tad dry, i think a sauce of some sort would have help lots. lastly the thai coleslaw, it was great! it had a hint of curry and peanut flavor, a nice alternative to french fries. all in all nick's is another good sc restaurant, part of a string of good new restaurants. so check it out!
