nick's san clemente

coming live from oklahoma! we checked nicks out in san clemente on vacation and it was a great experience! we had awesome service and the food was phenomenal. we had the bacon deviled eggs and theasparagusfries.. and split the fried chicken for dinner with an extra side of "their play" on mac and cheese. yes yes yes!

did you know that nick’s has no corkage fee? it’s awesome. we take a bottle of wine and have some appetizers. you need to get there early to get a table. get there even earlier if you want one of the coveted patio tables. we usually sit at the bar and have a great time. my favorite appetizer is theasparagusfries.asparagusstalks coated with a light parmesan batter and delicately fried. delicioso! on friday we ate dinner. i had the salmon – really good. it had a caper mustard buerre blanc sauce and came with sauteed spinach and butter chive mashed potatoes. i opted for two servings of spinach rather than the potatoes. jeff had the prime top sirloin which had a bleu cheese crust. it came with a loaded baked potato and roasted vegetables. if you haven’t already, take an evening and visit nick’s. delicious food and, as i said, no corkage fee. share this: facebook twitter google pinterest

nick's is my favorite restaurant. this is my favorite restaurant on earth, my wife and i have been fans of the laguna beach restaurant since it opened.

make a reservation on weekends if you don't want to wait and hour or more, they are busy!!

i don't care about the wait - bring it on, i'll be at the bar enjoying an ice cold stella on draft.

all i want is to get my hands on some of those ribs. those ribs are the best ribs i have ever had in my life. i have made so many people try these ribs and have turned them all into believers! oh everything else on the menu is also awesome (ie.asparagusfries, veggie burger).

my only suggestion is if you're offered sides get these sides, they rock.
1) warm potato salad
2) mac and cheese
3) coleslaw

they don't post the calories on the menu - which i am sure are astronomical) but who cares, i only care about the food.

trust me, it's in your best interest to check this place out.

good new del mar spot. ever since i heard about nick's opening in san clemente, i've been really excited to try it. the decor is really modern and simple, very similar to "the shore" just a few doors up del mar. there's patio seating, indoor tables and booths, as well as a full bar with in my opinion one of the best beer selections in san clemente. the menu has a nice variety of classic american food, salads, burgers, steaks, and seafood. i ordered the short rib sliders with thai peanut coleslaw, and some ahi tartare and friedasparagusto start things off. theasparaguswas served with ranch dressing and tasted pretty standard. the ahi was excellent, served on thick tortilla chips with guacamole and a squirt of chili mayo, it was my favorite dish. the sliders were good for the price, the pork was tender and flavorful and topped with thin fried onion rings, it was just a tad dry, i think a sauce of some sort would have help lots. lastly the thai coleslaw, it was great! it had a hint of curry and peanut flavor, a nice alternative to french fries. all in all nick's is another good sc restaurant, part of a string of good new restaurants. so check it out!
