great place. canceled my reservation there last night to try silver fox in grapevine. i won't do that again. we'll bebackto nick and sams. have been there probably 25 times and it's always been a great experience and worth the cost and the drive to downtown dallas.

wanted to try something different for our anniversary and this place did not disappoint. most of the zomato reviews got it right, dark and intimate but also loud and busy!

had to shave a few points off for the dirty silverware and menu, but this was addresses the right way and was worth the free bottle of wine and dessert! food was amazing, nothing we tried was disappointing and the price tag was not near as bad as we were expecting. we will def, bebackbefore next year!

top notch, see and be seen dallas steakhouse with texas size portions. perfect for the business dinner to impress or a celebratory night out.

sight- packed restaurant, make the reservations at least a week in advance.

sound- bustling. tables filled with businessmen closing deals, hot to trot couples and ladies night out.

touch- clean. velvet banquet sofas, pressed linens.

smell- n/a

taste-
bread basket- complimentary bread basket is toast points with cavier, egg and a shmear of sour cream. delicious. especially with the complimentary glass of champagne served for special occasions.
steak tartar- the best in dallas. tender, buttery, meaty steak with a signature runny egg on top. the fried brioche bread was delicious when topped with the tartar. i would comebackjust for this!
lobster salad- split into 2 for sharing. not good. the large piece of glazed pork belly was cut poorly and fatty. the lobster tasted as if was picked days ago.
seafood tower. at $28 pp, it’s a bit pricey. the oysters were delicious as were the shrimp. there was only 1 little neck clam on the platter which i thought was odd. fresh seafood but nothing as a stand out.
ribeye- prepared as we requested. rare. pretty tender and not that chewy.
creamed spinach- odd. it had an overcooked quality to it and had used frozen leaf spinach to create. disappointing.

easter brunch...$$$$. ok this review is going to be for their easter brunch in 2013. i have not had their normal fare so my review may change.

pro's: solid easter atmosphere including easter bunny, balloon animals, hidden easter eggs, etc. food was quality, service was strong.

con's: the cost. wow. they were also out of a few foods.

we went at 2:00pm, towards the end of easter brunch (ended at 3:00). all the food we ate was quality, really enjoyed the mac & cheese, chicken fingers, and french toast. all the fruit and baked goods were fresh as well. if you have kids they had plenty of things to keep them occupied. they were out of a few of the foods, namely one of the carving meats and tortellini, and i was really looking forward to the latter. awesome selection of desserts, one of the best that i have seen at a buffet. the atmosphere was better than most typical upscale steakhouses, a bit more bright and good main dining room.

all that being said, $60/person? holy cow that is expensive. was the food good? absolutely. was it $60 good, paying more for a mimosa? i do not think so - if this was an "a" for food quality, i can get a "b+" or "a-" for half the price. for two people and one mimosa the total was, with tip, was $165.90. as good as the food was that is simply outrageous.

a "do not like" for the easter brunch because of the cost - the good did not outweigh the dollars that bled from my wallet. i would gobackto try their normal fare, at which time my rating may change.

horrible !!!!!. well.... i really hate to say that our first time at nick and sams in dallas was a huge bust!

we made our reservation 3 weeks in advance to ensure we would have a table. arrived at 7:30pm on saturday 1/26/13, which was what our reservation time was set for, to be advised it would be “just a second” before we could be seated. well of course there is no seating to wait, we had to walk around between a seating/dining area and the bar on a constant to avoid being trampled by the wait staff, management, hostesses, bartenders, and other waiting patrons. waited at the bar for 10 min before we could even get a glass of wine, not to mention the loud obnoxious techno music blaring in your ears so you can’t even hold a conversation with the person standing 6 inches from you. so first impression was more like a night club than an outstanding, first class steakhouse.

so 30 min. go by and we have not been seated, we waited another 15 min. and we ask about the hold up to be advised that it will be “just a tad longer, that tables are being cleaned”. okay, we invested this much time in the wait (45 min total now) and we were hungry, so we decided to try and stick it through. another 15 min. go by, still have not been seated. i confronted the hostesses because i saw numerous groups and couples that arrived after our 3 person group seated before our group. again, told we would be “seated shortly”, i told her we have already been waiting for an hour on a reservation made 3 weeks ago and we would like to be seated immediately. finally after another 15 min., we were taken to our table.

during our over-hour wait in the front of the restaurant, we saw wait staff showing a slab of the different cuts of meats and couldn’t wait to be shown the same. wanted to hear the specials like we had been over-hearing waiting to be seated. hoping that our food was going to be worth the wait we had just endured. let me say, huge disapointment. our service was horrible. our waiter did not shows us the slab of meats, did not tell us the specials, had no idea about the wines on the menu and could frankly give a crap we were even there. the bus boy cleaning off the tables around us was more attentive to what we needed, from more water, additional napkins, removing plates from the table, to the point i grabbed a $20 out of my wallet, grabbed him- held his hand while giving him the $20 bill and graciously thanked him for his attentiveness. the manager of our littlebackroom saw me do this, came to our table to ask us how everything was going. of course we told him how upset and disappointed we were. he then took our waiter in visual distance, and we could see him pointing his finger and obviously giving our waiter a butt chewing. all of this happened before we even got our main course.....

main course comes out: 3 filet mignons, order of grilled asparagus, garlic mash, and lobster mac. the filets were cooked almost to order, a little over on some and a little under on others. there was no seasoning (salt and pepper) on our meats, and none on the table to make up for the lack of it. so the meat was very bland, and the texture was disgusting. we each had to chew on a piece for what felt like 10 min. the filet is supposed to melt in your mouth, not act as a piece of chewing gum. needless to say we did not eat even half of our steaks. the asparagus was limp and tasted as if it had been soaked in vinegar before grilled, we didn’t eat that either. the garlic mash was really good, but then how hard is it really to get that wrong?! the lobster mac, which we all were so excited about, was runny and bland, just overly disappointing. complete and utter disappointment. our waiter cleared our plates without a word (which after the butt chewing who would expect him to even speak a single word to us), and broughtbackthe leftovers all in boxesbackto the table, we did not want to take any of our leftovers home and had he’d ask we would have declined. he then placed 3 plates and forks on the table and he apologized that “we” felt ignored by him, of course it was our fault because he would not take responsibility for his actions- it was all about how “we” felt and not his lack of service, and to make it up to us ordered us two desserts on the house. we did not even get to pick what we were getting as an apology for his lack of service. we were given a slice of chocolate chip cheesecake and a pastry dish with pistachio ice cream. the cheesecake was average, but we did not want cheesecake. the pastry dish was dry and flavorless- didn’t eat it, but the pistachio ice cream was pretty good and we devoured that.

while we were finishing our glasses of wine, kenan, the waiter serving a table beside ours, stopped to ask us how we liked our experience. we told him about or “experience from hell” from start to end and told him how we had been watching him all night and how we wished we would have had him as our server. he was very apologetic and gave us a card with his name on it and told us if we decided to comebackto call and ask for him and he would guarantee that our next experience would not be like the one we had. reality of it is, i don’t think we will ever gobackto nick and sams. we all have gotten better food, better service, and an overall better experience at restaurants like del frisco’s, lonesome dove, and as much as i hate to say this.... even saltgrass...

i’m sorry nick and sams, in our books your restaurant is not the best in dallas.

ps- we left our leftovers at our table in case you were wondering.....

unbelievably bad. omg! so disappointed! my wife and i usually go to pappa bro's or bob's chophouse both of which are excellent. thought we would give nick and sam's a try for something new. our 9:00 reservation was late, place was packed but we have no idea as to why. even thought the wait staff were friendly service was very slow and the dining room was loud. mussel appetizer was disgusting smelled and tasted like horse manure! seriously not fresh sent itbackimmediately. tried the shrimp cocktail as a replacement and it was extremely salty. it was not the cocktail sauce but the plain shrimp was way too salty, how can that happen?
i thought the entree's would make up for the poor appetizers but not even close. both steaks bone in fillet and new york strip had very little flavor but were cooked correctly. same with grilled asparagus it tasted like it was boiled and they painted on the grill marks. the mushrooms were not bad but also a little salty.
the waiter said he was sorry for the mussels (which was the only one of the five bad dished we were served that we complained). he said the chef tasted them and agreed they were horrible and the cooking staff got in trouble for letting them go out of the kitchen. he said he took the first two cocktails off our bill. however after getting the bill he did not remove the cocktails and we had asked for them to be removed. with tip $368 at least the bottle of wine was good. i travel all over the us for work and eat out a lot. i can't even fathom how food this bad could cost so much!

one of the best!. i've had the pleasure of going to nick & sam's twice now and it's one of the best dinning experiences i've ever had, from beginning to end. everything is first rate and memorable. one of the most amazing tastes outside the steaks is the flash fried 32oz (yes, 32 ounce) australian lobster...simply unreal. enjoy if you ever get the opportunity. i'd book a trip to dallas just to go to dinner here and then fly rightbackhome - no joke.

it's fine. i have to agree with another review here... it's ok, but it simply isn't the best steak house in dallas, and certainly nothing that draws mebacktime after time.

the service was good, the food was fine, the atmosphere is grand... phil romano's paintings fill the interior. but there's something i can't put my finger on that just doesn't inspire me to want to keep comingbackto spend $225 on a meal, no matter the special occasion.

there are others that do and still others to try.

too many other good steakhouses in dallas to waste your money here. well i guess if you like prostitues at the bar, and unapologetic staff, mediocre sides, but a good steak, this is your place.

waiting on table that we had reservations for without an apology was terrible, the hookers in the bar area ready to rpunce on "fresh meat" if you turned your back, was appalling and the attitute the wait staff had for the most part was shameful.

there are far too many other great staeakhouses in dallas and within minutes from nick and sams for me to ever bother goingbackagain...oh yeah and just a fyi, i know of 3 people that have had things stolen out of there car when they valet there, just a fyi
