this place is contending for my fav restaurant in new orleans. great drinks and a pro bar tender, amazing muffuletta, and a beautiful building and courtyard. service is a little slow, but they were plenty polite and is actually encouraged me to chill out and pretend i was on vacation for a second. cool place!

they are famous for their muffalettas so i couldn't wait to try it! the shrimp was great…it was served in an avocado with pieces of garlic butter toast.

ok, so due to quirkiness i had to check this place out. it doesn't disappoint with it's darkly lit bar, fast service with slow southern style. i also appreciate the opportunity to have a muffaletta of normal proportions (pictured is a quarter). must have a pimm's cup here, right? especially when created by the bartender with the luscious stache.

it was ok, at least prices are reasonable. service was poor and their pimms cup sucked! ruby slipper makes a fantastic pimms.they say their good thing is their muffalata but it was average.

we just finished eating here and are savoring our last sips of pimms. i enjoyed every part of our experience, from the service to the food. i liked it so much, i thought i'd get on urbanspoon and leave my first review ever. i was surprised to see so many negative reviews! jordan, our server, was fantastic. very friendly and made our experience one to remember. everything our table ate was also a++. we had a greek salad, red beans and rice, jambalaya, and muffulettas all around. all of us, new to pimms cups, were pleasantly surprised. they were so good, we ordered another round. at the end of it, we contemplated how long we had to wait to eat here again. i think all of us would give napoleon house 5 stars! thanks for a great meal!

step into another time and place. its hard to describe why i like napoleon house so much. maybe its the strains of opera music lilting through the lazy back patio on a balmy afternoon. maybe its the great bartenders who know their craft and the history of the place. the bar just feels like its set in another time and place, and i love that. the pimm's cups are outrageous. why does this place make the traditional drink of wimbleton in a french themed cafe? unclear, but it works. honorable mention goes to their sazarac, a new orleans institution of a drink that is well made here. their roast beef "poor boy" (spelled that way on the menu) is outstanding. finish up your meal with a biscuit tortoni (frozen, rum infused custard) and you will leave satisfied.

the drinks were very good here, but i would not recommend having dinner here. the food is average at best and it is served on school cafeteria plates. too many other options in this city to settle for this place.

the optimistic plot to provide refuge for the exiled napoleon bonaparte by the original owner, nicholas girod, mayor of new orleans from 1812 to 1815, did not come to pass for the emperor. the building has been known as the napoleon house ever since, either as an italian grocery store to a restaurant with countless servings of the signature pimm's cup and long list of classic creole favorites.

after a day of touring came here for a light evening snack. got the italian muffuletta and gumbo. the quarter size muffuletta was good enough. the bread was warm and fresh very good flavor and the right amount of meat. the pimm’s cup which is a very smooth cocktail that i had the night before was on point. you will love the friendly staff and great atmosphere. stop in and relax.

food was great for lunch, not a dinner restaurant. muffuletta sandwich was delicious, you only need to order a quarter. i would have given an 4star except waiter was rude. i asked about the portions for a child and he said it’s 2 pieces of bread. and acted irritated.and we waited for a long time for dessert.

being a vegetarian i was so happy that they do have options for me , i ordered bruschetta and loved it portion size was big for me i couldn't finish it , they have a rustic ambience obviously it's a very old restaurant, service was quick, they have indoor and outdoor seating good to go with friends family or alone, affordable i mean one can fill up his stomach in $12-15 ....

excellent! the "atmosphere", food, service, price are all excellent! ya gotta go here. if it's summer time eat inside, you'll die in the patio if you sit out there. can't believe at one time they were going to try to smuggle napoleon to this what was a house and let him live there after his wars were over. again, awesome place!
