the right mindset. i think a lot of people come here expecting everything. mug n bun is an old school drive up and change your grease type of place. the food isn't going to win awards or anything. the root beer should though its out of this world good. i live a block away so come here a lot. if you like a little spice the hot pepper cheese balls are one of the best things i have eaten. mac n cheese wedges with some salt or pepper or sweet potato fries are agoodchoice for something new. they put cinnamon and sugar on the fries. and they have funnel cake fries now which are awesome for dessert. tenderloin and burgers are decent and what you would expect but i tend to go for a foot long with cheese and sauce or a polish sausage. but next time you go make sure u get root beer and hot pepper cheese balls no matter what u decide on and it will all be worth it trust me. and sometimes we will order root beer by the gallon and just split it up, its much cheaper but you have to order to go. doesn't mean you have to leave though.

first of all verify prices over the phone or in person before you place and order. nothing on the website or in this app currently reflects pricing. even with current pricing they still don't calculate the tax correctly and you can overpay. some of the servers are pleasant some are not. in my opinion they are pricey for fast food. my chili cheese fries and five piece mini corndogs came to $9.41. the chili cheese fries aregoodthough. the grilled cheeseburger isgoodbut way too greasy and entirely too much cheese. they used to take american express but just recently quit it. they have not properly removed the signs to reflect so. there is nothing special about this place unless you want different fast food types of items such as the grilled cheeseburgers, root beer, and chili cheese fries.

the rootbeer is so creamy and smooth. it is the best root beer ive ever had. the food is average butgood. i like to get the chilli cheese dog or the tenderloin. the hot pepper cheese balls are prettygoodand the peanut butter malt is fabulous. they do offer a great selection of sides . this is an indianapolis institution.

the root beer is wonderful. their sides ares wonderful. their tenderloin is pretty good. it is not asgoodas some of their other tenderloins in town, but is better than most. their tenderloin is fresh and hand breaded, but still tastes a bit like a fair tenderloin (not that this is a bad thing). everything here is good, you cannot miss.

great milkshakes!. i had their cheesecake milkshake and its oh sogoodand because of that i'm giving them a higher rate. tips: don't order the family size sides, a personal one isgoodfor 2 people! they accept credit cards now but no tip line for the server so bring a little cash for that!

good chuckwagon sandwich. had the chuckwagon sandwich, pretty good! had some of the onion rings on the side which were sinfully good!

got our hotdog fix..!. it was a beautiful day out. wife and i just left a movie this afternoon and didn't want to ruin our dinner date we had planned. we opted to stop by here to get a hotdog fix! she opted for a plain dog with ketchup and mustard. i myself had been wanting to get a coney/cheese/onion dog fix for quite sometime and opted for the cheese, sauce, and onion hotdog. got our dogs with a couple of small root beer drinks to hold us over until our dinner date. very good!

love this place on junk night!. no one in your group or yourself can make up their mind on the food they want to eat? want to take a trip into the past. try this place. virtually anything on the menu to satisfy a kid to a senior. you can get it to go or eat in your car. i haven't had one thing from their menu that i disliked. of course there are items i prefer over others. i would suggest the hot pepper cheese balls with a side of cocktail sauce, chuckwagon sandwich, breaded tenderloin isn't bad, pizza burger is good, corn dogs are good, but the absolute best are the onion rings; they are legendary and what this place is commonly known for. a regular order will feed two. oohhh, and the root beer is prettygoodtoo. take home a half gallon. note - if you call in an order for pick-up, be sure to certainly check your order before you leave, we've been disgruntled a couple of times when we got our order home but wouldn't ever discourage anyone for trying this place due to that.

yummy food, yucky atmosphere. i grew up on mug n' bun, and the taste hasn't change! the root beer is verygoodand the pizza burger is tasty. the only problem i have with mug n' bun is the dirty parking lot and sitting area. the patio area is always covered in trash and they tables are usually dirty. if this placed spruced up and re-painted, it would be a 5 star classic.

root beer 10*s food 3. very disappointed. if it wasn't for the root beer and onion rings i'd never go back. the root beer was sogoodi'll drop by for a jug or mug often. with the exception of the onion rings and the cheese balls, the food was bad. the coneys were poor quality and the chili was flavorless.

vavavava, click click click. that's my teeth chatterin'... cuz everything is frozen! don't get me wrong the place is cool! root beer is da bomb! pork tenderloin wasgoodbut it was like eating a pete's pride tenderloin... don't get me wrong i liked it but i expected it to blow me away. the cheeseburger wasgoodbut i could get the same anywhere i go. the onion rings were cold and chewy. we sent them back so we could try fresh ones but they never arrived. for me the best part was the fries... but can you say white castle serves the same?? yes you can! seasoned salt and all. we were truly disappointed! do not go if you want fresh homemade... only go there if you drank a lot of booze and want to get your deep fried fix on. oh but don't drink and drive... how someone else drive you. monkey butt

it has been the best for years.... mug n bun has been around since before i was born, and it is the only place i can recall that has had suchgoodfood for so long.

you can always count on a great tenderloin and onion rings, and rootbeer in a frosty mug. (i'm not even a fan of onion rings, but i love them here!) when i don't get the tenderloin, a footlong and fries is my "backup plan." it sounds like a simple meal (and it is), but there is something about mug n bun that just makes it taste better than anywhere else.

my absolute favorite food from here is the pizza shop in the back. i remember mom ordering pizza every weekend around 9:30... and dad would walk in the door with the hot pizza just in time to watch saturday night live. the pizza is the same now as it was 30 years ago, and every time i go home to visit mom, i try to get a pizza. those ladies work hard in the pizza shop, and the proof is in the taste.

mug n bun is a classic landmark in speedway, and it should not be missed.

an indianapolis classic. a must-do for every hoosier... be sure to bring your cash though (no credit cards). the burgers are good, their tenderloin is awesome... the fried mushrooms aregoodtoo! the real star is the root beer - which even comes in diet. you'll have fun and the staff is great!
