mr. taco

the lunch recon team hit mr taco today. it is very nice on the inside, with ample seating and ambiance. two of the nice surprises were the authentic bottled beverages and salsa bar. there is nothing quite as satisfying as chasing down a taco with a real sugar coke. the salsa bar had six different salsa's, varying in flavor and heat. there were two tortas, one order of tacos, a order of fajitas, and one quesadilla for the table. the food showed up within 10 minutes of ordering. the tortas were huge, with both getting rave reviews. the quesadilla was packed with meat and cheese. thetacos(one chorizo, one asada, one pastor) were full of flavor. the fajitas order was huge, and there was much take-away from it. mr taco is very expedient and packs quite the amount of food for the price. we definitely will be returning to sample the entire menu.

i've been wanting to try this on ace for a while, ever since i saw it was trending on zomato. maybe it was a bad day. i think that the this place became too popular too fast. my first impression was that it seemed a little dirty. there was not enough staff to keep the tables clean, so after ordering our lunch, i bussed the table so we could sit down, there were several dirty tables. if you are going to have a salsa bar keep it clean and stocked. the best part about lunch was the guacamole dip, it was very fresh and worth a little wait. i had the parktacoswhich were good but not great and my wife had the taco salad again good but a little salty. if in the area i would give them another try, but would not make a special trip to eat there again.

yes. yes. yes. yes. streettacosall day. big salsa bar. walk up and order so it is quick and jnexpensive. this place is the absolute best. if you like mexican take time to try mr. taco.

they seriously have like the besttacosi'm town. their nacho supreme are awesome also. love this place! !!!

great mom and pop restaurant. great service, very friendly and helpful. skip the chain restaurants and try this authentic place! 3 realtacosfor less than $6?? can't beat that! mmmm.

amazing!. this place has the besttacosin town! i will drive 40 min from where i live just to eat here. all i have to say is 3 words: authentic california tacos!

really good. i had high expectations for this place due to reviews from friends and website reviews. it met the highest of expectations. not the best looking restaurant i've been in, but it makes up for it with good food. i would recommend to anyone that likes authentic mexicantacosand burritos.

meh mexican food. i've been here a few times and have been underwhelmed each time. that might be due to the insanely high expectations people have forced upon me. the food isn't necessarily bad, but it's nothing mind-blowing either. i've only ever tried the basics: beeftacos(not bad, not great - fairly similar to most other beeftacosfound elsewhere), the shredded chicken taco (gummy and dry is offering a generous description), and the ground beef burrito (over-stuffed with black beans and dry rice leading to a slightly less than desiring amount of beef). after typing this, i'm beginning to think the food is only passable because of the liberal amount of cilantro used. i got the impression that someone in the kitchen feels using lots of cilantro can make up for lack of flavor elsewhere.

but not all is bad. i really enjoy the salsa station - help yourself to a variety of fresh salsas and picante sauces offering different flavors to enhance your fare. this is a very nice inclusion and i'd like to see it offered in other places.

i've heard some people describe the restaurant as authentic, but i'm skeptical. mostly because each time i've visited it seems that 90% of the diners appear to be corporate middle-aged white guys who look like me. when i think authentic, i think of a place where i'm in the minority. but perhaps i'm naive.

unfortunately, i've been uninspired by the food at mr. taco one too many times and i will not be visiting again.

i have always liked this restaurant but lately the quantity of the shredded chicken in thetacoshas become less and less. it use to be where you could see the chicken and really taste it! now you can't see it with all of the lettuce and now its a very thin layer at the bottom of the tortilla. sad! it's their chicken that makes me come back!

shredded chickentacoswere super dry. the rice and beans were good though. not terrible but i don't see myself going back.

mixed thoughts but overall positve.. i dont do chains, so finding a place like mr taco is something i always look forward to. got there at 11:00, they actually open at 10:30 and there were 15 people in line by 11:15. its worth the wait for your fresh cooked order.

first off, i was intrigued by the tortas...i opted for fish and that was a huge mistake. they should just take this off the menu cause its terrible. one tilapia filet on a fresh cooked 6" bun, and the whole thing was just a mess of avocado and mayonnaise, anything else would have been better, stay away from this item. however, as bad as the execution was, all the ingredients were fresh and the bun was right out of the oven.

i also tried the carnitas (beef) and pastor (pork)tacoson white corn tortillas. they were fantastic, especially when paired with the habanero salsa that is made fresh and hot! each taco was stuffed with at least 3oz of tender shredded meat, a very generous portion. the salsa bar is ok, i think some of the sauces are a little thin but when you order you are served fresh corn chips that are hot and perfectly thin....you wont break a tooth on them while you sample the different salsas.

overall i give this place very high marks, and the best feature here is the lovely lady that greeted me, took my order, served my meal, then brought me a to go box....she was wonderful and i am definitely going back soon!

too slow!!!. went there for lunch today with my family. it wasn't overly busy, or slow, but for some reason, they couldn't get any food out. we waited 45 minutes for sometacosand a couple quesadillas before we gave up and left. i don't know what why other reviewers were willing to wait that long, but this is completely unacceptable. plus, we ordered appetizers which were also not delivered yet, so they would have all come at once. again, not acceptable.

great tacos. we really enjoyed the shredded chicken & porktacosand the quesidillas. the chips and salsa were just so-so and the restaurant itself was certainly nothing fancy, but we had fast, friendly service and found the tender meat filling
to be about the best we have had anywhere.
