the promised land. i think i found my new taco spot. all hail mr.taco whoever this man is. when walking in i was greeted by the nicest lady ever told her about my diet issues and she told me the re-fried beans were made in house with no lard and the black beans were good to go too. rice was made with no chicken stock or animal products and no dairy in the guacamole. i was blown away by thefreshsalsas and homemade crunchy taco shells. this reminded me of being on tour on the west coast and that distintive taco truck taste (thats a good thing).

oh! and like everyone else is saying the imported coca-colas are the best. god i'm in love. it's nice to have a break from the negative experiences.

i've been wanting to try this on ace for a while, ever since i saw it was trending on zomato. maybe it was a bad day. i think that the this place became too popular too fast. my first impression was that it seemed a little dirty. there was not enough staff to keep the tables clean, so after ordering our lunch, i bussed the table so we could sit down, there were several dirty tables. if you are going to have a salsa bar keep it clean and stocked. the best part about lunch was the guacamole dip, it was veryfreshand worth a little wait. i had the park tacos which were good but not great and my wife had the taco salad again good but a little salty. if in the area i would give them another try, but would not make a special trip to eat there again.

great lunch spot & the best service!. the lady behind the counter is awesome! you won't find better service...and she's playing christian music loud during lunch! it's a great place with great food, nothing fancy, but just a good atmosphere is you want to get away from the day-to-day worries we call life. food isfreshand the salsa is fresh! they even sell bottled coke with real sugar cane (from mexico). try the tres leche cake too! i feel great about my money supporting this woman's business. she is simply awesome!

looks like an eye sore but they have great tacos!. this place is a diamond in the rough, you would probably think twice about dining here just because it doesn't look physically appealing but please take the risk and go inside! they make wonderful authentic tacos, the flavors are simple, freshand oh so delicious! i drive 30 minutes just to eat one (or three) of their scrumptious tacos! in my last visit i wanted to try the quesadilla and i wasn't too fond of it. i will just stick to the tacos!

meh mexican food. i've been here a few times and have been underwhelmed each time. that might be due to the insanely high expectations people have forced upon me. the food isn't necessarily bad, but it's nothing mind-blowing either. i've only ever tried the basics: beef tacos (not bad, not great - fairly similar to most other beef tacos found elsewhere), the shredded chicken taco (gummy and dry is offering a generous description), and the ground beef burrito (over-stuffed with black beans and dry rice leading to a slightly less than desiring amount of beef). after typing this, i'm beginning to think the food is only passable because of the liberal amount of cilantro used. i got the impression that someone in the kitchen feels using lots of cilantro can make up for lack of flavor elsewhere.

but not all is bad. i really enjoy the salsa station - help yourself to a variety offreshsalsas and picante sauces offering different flavors to enhance your fare. this is a very nice inclusion and i'd like to see it offered in other places.

i've heard some people describe the restaurant as authentic, but i'm skeptical. mostly because each time i've visited it seems that 90% of the diners appear to be corporate middle-aged white guys who look like me. when i think authentic, i think of a place where i'm in the minority. but perhaps i'm naive.

unfortunately, i've been uninspired by the food at mr. taco one too many times and i will not be visiting again.

mixed thoughts but overall positve.. i dont do chains, so finding a place like mr taco is something i always look forward to. got there at 11:00, they actually open at 10:30 and there were 15 people in line by 11:15. its worth the wait for yourfreshcooked order.

first off, i was intrigued by the tortas...i opted for fish and that was a huge mistake. they should just take this off the menu cause its terrible. one tilapia filet on afreshcooked 6" bun, and the whole thing was just a mess of avocado and mayonnaise, anything else would have been better, stay away from this item. however, as bad as the execution was, all the ingredients werefreshand the bun was right out of the oven.

i also tried the carnitas (beef) and pastor (pork) tacos on white corn tortillas. they were fantastic, especially when paired with the habanero salsa that is madefreshand hot! each taco was stuffed with at least 3oz of tender shredded meat, a very generous portion. the salsa bar is ok, i think some of the sauces are a little thin but when you order you are servedfreshcorn chips that are hot and perfectly thin....you wont break a tooth on them while you sample the different salsas.

overall i give this place very high marks, and the best feature here is the lovely lady that greeted me, took my order, served my meal, then brought me a to go box....she was wonderful and i am definitely going back soon!

they also have a salsa bar that has 6 different types offreshmade salsa, so you are guaranteed to find one you like. for my meal i got the $6.00 taco special which includes 3 tacos, rice, and refried beans. my tacos were flour tortilla soft tacos with shredded chicken and cheese. i know, very boring...so i took a picture of my friend's colorful tacos instead!! hers had all of the above plus tomato, lettuce, and cilantro. the tacos were loaded with meat and were bursting at the seams (not that tacos have seams, but you get what i am saying!) even though my tacos were perfect this time, i have had a few "jui

a large part of my life is spent looking for unique food experiences. as foodies this can lead us to the rare, expensive, difficult and fussy. but deep down we know there is a holy grail. we're all looking for that hole-in-the-wall strip mall dive that provides nothing short of a religious experience. psst… here it is. mr. taco. you heard me correctly - mr. taco. the man and i were searching for somewhere we could take an obnoxious 4-year-old where we didn't have to scream our order into a plastic clown's mouth. tucked into a strip mall deep in the warrens of cubicle farms in the salisbury/southside/st. luke's area, mr. taco is easy to miss. once inside, there is a small grocery and a walk-up ordering counter. to the right you'll find the salsa bar. (!) nine different kinds of handmade salsa are on offer - madefresheach day. the menu includes tortas (sandwiches), fajitas, tacos, burritos, tostadas, nachos, quesadillas, salads, sides and desserts. the man chose a variety of tacos ($
