an mothers day diaster. i went to mortons at the seaport for mothers day with my family. the service was just ok nothing to write home about. weorderedour food. we wanted an order of onion rings they ran out of them. our meals arrived however they forgot to put my sons order in.
they took his meal off which they should have by the time it arrived we were almost done with our meal. iordereda filet cooked
medium it came well done. i have eaten several times at flemings and never had a problem. the steak was very small we ordered
six ounce filets. the potatoes were just ok nothing to write home about. i would never go back there and i would discourage anyone
that was thinking of going there.

not really impressed. i was able to get my wife and myself in, without a reservation, which was nice. the hostess was nice. weorderedsteaks. they were good. overall the food and service was good. i didn't really like the giant asparagus. bottom line though, you are not getting what you pay for. if they are going to have those kind of prices, they should be better than good. i have heard of many other steakhouses around louisville since then, so that is where i will be next time. i will probably never go back to morton's.

my wife and i stay in uptown dallas frequently and until tonight we have never tried morton’s on mckinney. it is in a convenient location to the hotel we frequent and after an awesome day watching the rangers beat the angels we thought we would give it a try.

i’m not going to go into a lot of detail about the dining or reception areas. they are fine and typical of many of the steakhouses in dallas. the dining area is nowhere near as nice as nick and sam’s for example… more on par with ruth’s chris.

before i get started you should know that i consider myself a fair and balanced food critic. i love hole in the walls and fine dining. price is not my main criteria.

for an appetizer weorderedthe shrimp alexander. it was good. my wife as usualorderedthe lobster and iorderedthe bone in ribeye…. prime the server said.

i’m not sure what morton’s definition of prime is. maybe they order their steaks from amazon prime. maybe they feel like the pay prime for their beef. all i can tell you is if my steak was graded select it would have been just marginal. if it had been graded choice it would have been disappointing. the fact that morton’s states that they served me aged prime beef is at best dishonest and more likely fraudulent.

if morton’s is going to stay in business in uptown dallas (and they won’t) then they absolutely must purchase their beef from another vendor or they must far and above upgrade the quality of their steak knives… i recommend something with much deeper serrated edge than the knife they had available tonight. a larger handle would also make holding the knife easier considering the amount of strokes and pressure it will take to make a cut. it should not require no less than five (yes i swear five) firm strokes with a serrated edge steak knife to cut a steak cooked medium.

the sides were just not good. weorderedthe bacon/ onion mac and cheese and the horseradish mash potatoes. portions were huge but not needed. we both ate one spoon of the mac and cheese and about the same of the potatoes. they were just so marginal that they honestly were just simply not worth ingesting the calories.

i ate about 1/3 of the steak and called it a night. we easily left 3/4 of the sides untouched. the entrees and sides were so marginal to bad that we didn’t give them a shot at dessert. the lobster was ok…. but then again how do you screw up a broiled lobster tail.

we waited 20 or so minutes for our server to bring our ticket, paid and left. i didn’t make a fuss or ask for a manager as honestly what could he do… free dessert… no thanks.

instead of money a better “tip” would be: to the chef: find another line of work. for the staff: look for another place to work. for you the reader: dine elsewhere. if you’re in uptown dallas you have choices. nick and sam’s, the palm, even ruth’s chris is much, much better.

if your car is broke down on mckinney in uptown and your waiting on the tow truck and you’re starving… there’s a smashburger just down the way and it’s much, much better and a couple hundred bucks cheaper than morton’s the steakhouse on mckinney in dallas.

in conclusion it is without a shadow of a doubt the worst $260.00 meal i’ve ever had. it would have been the worst $150.00 dollar meal too if that gives any perspective.

if i had wasted a special occasion on this joint i would have been very upset. if i can keep one person from wasting their time (not to mention the money) here; especially considering your other options, then i will have made my point.

my wife made me add; if you end up at morton’s against your will… get the cadillac margarita as it was quite good.

i feel generous giving this restaurant a 1 star.

let me preface this review by stating that we are a foodie group of over 6,000 members. we go around the central florida area experiencing fine cuisine restaurants.

i booked a 7 pm reservation in january for a valentine's day dinner party of 15. the restaurant called me at 3:30 pm (2/14) and told me that the restaurant needed to push back the reservation by 30 mins because they were overbooked.

we all arrived at 7:30 pm and were told that only half of our table was ready. we could see that the restaurant was busy so we waited outside until our table was ready.
by 8 pm we were served prosecco champagne outside because our table was still not ready.

we were finally seated at 8:20 pm and had our water glasses filled but it took a while to get our drink orders taken.
by 8:45 pm we had still notorderedfood. when our orders were taken, a few members of our partyorderedfrom a full course menu. because our table was long, not all of our party knew about this full course option, so they chose the regular menu.

those whoorderedthe full course menu received the lobster bisque appetizer cold and one person in the group did not get his bisque because they "were out". he was given an alternative soup.

during this entire time we watched many other patrons come in, eat their entire meal, and leave.
there were many times when our water glasses weren't replenished and we had to ask for refills.

our waiter/waitress were completely inattentive to us sitting there waiting for our entrees to arrive and did not offer us refills on wine, nor did they provide us with updates of when our food would be ready. it did appear that they were understaffed because our waiter/waitress had many other patrons; not just our party.

it was almost 10 pm when the entrees arrived. the quality of the food was good, but serving cold lobster bisque, running out, and the prolonged wait times had already set the tone for the remainder of our meal.
the staff appeared extremely rushed. those who did not order the full course meal were not offered a dessert option.

because of the late hour, many chose to take their entrees home.

we spoke with the manager (adam) about our overall experience. i let him know that we have never had this type of experience at eddie v's or any other restaurants in the area. he stated "but you've never been there on valentine's day". he also said that he could not control the party before us as they stayed 2 hours and that was the reason behind our being seated late.

we were beyond frustrated at this point; how does another party staying late concern us???
i told him that if they were that overbooked they should have never accepted my reservation or made sure they had enough staff to accommodate our party. we were the only large party that night. we were also told that you would have to "ask" for the full course menu. i told him that we are one table. why provide this option to only part of our table?

he kept apologizing and saying that he doesn't know what more he could say. it is noted that after the discussion with the manager, the wait staff then asked if we wanted refills on our wine (after eating our entrees).

we finally paid our tabs and walked out of the restaurant at 11 pm.
this was for an original 7 pm reservation.

with the exception of one person, the rest of us had never eaten here.
i had heard great things about the restaurant and the quality of food was overall good at best but it was not what we expected.
the overall service was absolutely the worst that we've ever experienced.

last month we went to christner's prime steak and lobster with a party of 21. the food, quality of the restaurant, ambiance, and service was top notch and way beyond our expectations. coming to morton's after dining at christner's was extremely disappointing.

it's sad that a restaurant of this caliber can not provide that same quality for large parties on a special day like this.

we will definitely think again before ever coming here in the future.

first time in a morton's and will say i was impressed at level of service and care we were given. the lady and i just out on a night stroll to find some food decided to walk in. as we entered the beautiful room we both felt maybe we were a little under dressed. spoke to the host and she welcomed us to seat. next time and there will be one i know the dress and little more on the ordering. portions are huge here. we first had ahi tuna tower and amazing. i could have stopped here and been pleased. our salads came next a warm spinach that we actually split at waiters suggestion. good call my friend and for our main she had a bacon steak and i had filet, scallops , and shrimp. at this point we are both on the full side but food was so delicious and cooked perfect one more bit would fall in my mouth. as for for the 2 side weorderedamazing but i do not recommend this as side are huge and no one person needs to not share these.  overall great food service and atmosphere.  we will most definitely do again for the experience and food. and the have some amazing cocktails as well.

thanks to incredibly horrible customer service at perry's, we ate our last-night-in-dallas friday night meal here. my husband and i have eaten at the nashville location, but it was our niece's first time to morton's. our server, ryan, was incredibly detail-oriented. he suggested an amazing drink, something with pineapple. my niece and i had filets -- mine was the special, wagyu -- and my husband had the lamb. we shared the creamed corn and macaroni & cheese. my husband accidentally spilled a drink, and ryan brought him another. we finished with molten lava cake, a grand marnier soufflé, and a godiva after-dinner drink. the soufflé was a bit off to me, so iordereda molten lava cake, as well. (how can you go wrong with molten lava cake?! yum!) we thank everyone at perry's who was so hateful to us; thank you for allowing morton's to send us off from texas so pleasantly!

i had no reservation, i just walked in at 22:00, i was well received even though they were about to close in an hour. i chose to site by the bar rather than a dining table, i chose a stool facing a tv screen.

the last time i had a steak at morton’s was 12 years ago in portland. i’ve always been a diehard ruth’s chris fan, but i had a steak and fries the night before on friday at ruth’s chris, so i decided to change. that saturday night at morton’s iorderedthe exact same thing as the night before a ribeye and thin fries.

the comparison was easy and to my surprise morton’s galleria won. i must admit that the ribeye and fries at morton’s are tastier and more delicious than ruth’s chris houston. the difference is minute but for me personally, i was surprised as i've always been obsessed with ruth's chris i considered it the best steakhouse in the world. after this challenge, i had to change my mind as morton’s outrivaled it. that night changed allot of my beliefs, from now on i’m converted, i would never miss an opportunity to have a streak at morton’s.

the ambience (10/10): warm, modern, simple very appealing.

the service (10/10): fantabulous, the service was great, the bar lady kept refilling my drink and water all night without even asking.

the food (10/10): mouthwatering, my center-cut prime ribeye 16 oz (10/10) was worth every cent of the $49 price tag. it was a full-scale flavor explosion that was cooked to perfection. it was marbled, it had all its juices kept inside it, it was cooked to the right temperature. what made morton’s win the challenge is the fries (15/10). they were very thin crispy from the outside but still soft from the inside. it is as if when you bite the fries they bite back, this how fries should be.

the portion size: just right, the ribeye was so tasty that i wished it was a tad bigger

the cost: not cheap but value for money

the bottom line (10/10): i think morton’s steakhouse is my new-found love, i will definitely be back again and again.

on a recent business trip to charlotte i dined with a large group at morton's.  having been to a couple of other morton's locations my expectations were pretty high.  i am happy to report that they met those high expectations.  the service was excellent, the atmosphere was outstanding and dishes were executed with a high level of skill and attention;

for my appetizer iorderedthe prosciutto wrapped mozzarella, which was unique and very flavorful.  perfect pairing that worked very well together.  for the salad course i opted for the sliced beefsteak tomatos, an excellent choice as well.  i am a fan of the ny strip and that is what iorderedmedium rare + (which is a little past medium rare and not quite medium) and it was seared to near perfection!  it's hard to get a steak just exactly like i like it but they did and should be commended.  i enjoyed sauteed mushrooms and spinach for my side.  we had a very nice red with the dinner, but the host made the selection and i do not know the label.  in all a very nice dinner.

this visit wasn't my first time here, but it will be my last. my husband's appetizer was significantly later to the table than mine (like 10 minutes later), we had to ask where the side dish we hadorderedwas once our meals came, my lobster tail was overlooked and the steak was unimpressive. the best thing about the meal was the bottle of wine, but we had to refill our glasses ourselves. the meal was so bad we left without ordering dessert, although we had originally intended to get it when the night began.

overall a good experience. i hadn't been here in several years. it was once my absolute favorite restaurant. times have changed. we were celebrating a birthday in our group and there 10 of us in our party; they sat us in one of their separate rooms, which was fine with all of us. they brought us their a la carte menu, the magical dining menu for $33 per person, and two other more expensive menus to choose from.

since it was a big group, you would think our waiter (dale) would ask if and how we wanted our checks. nope, not one question! our waiter was working sort of by himself, so service was slow. drinks were not refilled, we had to constantly ask for drinks and different things.

my husband and i bothorderedfrom the magical dining menu, heorderedthe salmon and iorderedthe 6 oz filet mignon. the food was great! the steak was perfectly cooked and the side dishes were great as well. from the conversation around the table, the family was happy with their meals.

at the end of our night, the waiter brought us our tab in one check and claimed it was easier for us to give him the cash and credit cards than to divide the check accordingly. some members of our party over paid for their meals, and it was quite disappointing because our waiter didn't want to go back and give us separate checks. we paid $166 for our two meals and drinks; i believe we shouldn't paid over $120!!!

would we go back? not likely!

quality food, extra high prices and an inept manager!. went here for a large business client dinner...considering the potential size of the bill and that you could almost shoot a cannon through the place on a thursday night and not hit anyone, we thought the service would be impeccable. the main waitress was lovely but the manager was pushy and provided marginal/poor service. overall, the filets were excellent quality and perfectly done. the salads, particularly the chopped spinach salads were great. the sides were just average and the asparagus was actually terrible as it was way overgrown with a one to two inch diameter. it was like asparagus on steroids and should have even been offered.

the big problem was with the wine, which can really make or break a meal. weordereda wine due to it's particular vintage - 2006. with 12 people, weordereda magnum and it was pricey at about $275 a bottle. upon bringing it to the table, i noticed that the vintage was off a year, 2007, and pointed it out to the manager. after some hesitation, he claimed that the wine list had a typo and it should have read 2007. i asked if the price also contained a typo since there are clear pricing differences between vintage years. again, after some hesitation, his response was no. not wanting to make a larger scene in front of the clients, i accepted the bottle. upon opening it, the manager fragmented the cork into pieces but still proceeded to put it on the table. we ended up liking the wine very much and were considering another but the manager then informed us that we would have to switch to the 2008 vintage and low and behold, the price was the same. several of us voiced our objections and passed on the additional bottle of that wine. we then were sure to confirm the vintage/pricing on the next bottle. to our dismay, the manager seemed dumbfounded by the whole experience. again, this was shocking (or maybe it should not have been) considering the emptiness of the restaurant. for sure, despite the good food, we will not be back considering the poor wine experience, the very high prices and the inept manager!

i cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. i wanted to find a nice date night restaurant for my husband and i to celebrate our anniversary. i was hesitant to celebrate at morton's after reading mixed reviews, but i am so glad i did. we were early for our reservation, but they were ready for us and greeted us by name. our waitress was fantastic! she knew the menu in and out. the food was fantastic! iorderedthe filet with shrimp and scallops, and all three were delicious! my steak was cooked perfect, a surprise since most restaurants want to cook a medium steak medium well. my husband was pleased with his new york strip as well. our waitress surprised us with a complimentary dessert, picture, and anniversary frame. yes, this restaurant is on the pricey side, but absolutely well worth every penny! if you are looking for a nice place to celebrate, or have a quiet romantic evening, this is the place. we will definitely be back!!

good food... moderate service. went for a business dinner. initially, service was pretty good as orders for drinks, food, and sides was quite prompt and informative. wine order was a bit muddled as the waiter was not familiar with the wine stock and had to call on another member of the wait staff. to validate food was very good... steaks cooked as specified and very flavorful. sides were good and arrived on time and as ordered. dessert was interesting.... the order was taken in short order after the table was cleared... the waiter went around the table taking dessert orders... when he got to me i said that i wanted a tawny port and would like to see the port menu. he left the table and we never saw him again. after 20 minutes theordereddesserts arrived, presented by another waiter. after another 5 minutes, another waiter showed up with the port. i had notordereda particualr port as i had never been presneted with the port menu. i was tempted to protest, but after waiting 25 mintues for dessert/port, i just wanted to move on.

better choices on sand lake. friday night, half-full, un-interested servers and bad decor are only the beginning. we sat at the bar to eat dinner and service was rough. weorderedbig steaks and spent lots of money but no attention was paid as the servers/bartenders seem stressed out and disinterested. i have avoided this place for years due to the lack of recommendations but now i truly know why. my steak was grossly undercooked, but when i sent it back..... the microwave seemed to be the best option as i was served a scalding plate with residue burns and an overcooked $50 steak. sad, considering they're known for steaks. let me just say that i'll be spending my money elsewhere... and i suggest you do too.

best filet mignon in charlotte. one should know that i don't like the morton's chain on principle. they always seem to price their food $5-10 dollars more than their local competitors and i always thought dining there was more of a way to show-off than to enjoy good food. because of this, i have been to other locations on business trips, but never visited the one in my hometown.

despite my reservations, i decided to visit during charlotte's recent restaurant week. we were eating with friends who live uptown and it is tough to beat 3 courses for $30.

i was blown away at the quality of service and incredible food we received. salads were huge and very tasty. we alsoordereda dozen raw oysters (i know... oysters in the summer) but there was a craving at the table and it was satisfied with flavorful treats that were presented excellently. for dinner, all four of us got the filet (only steak option on the special menu). every person was blown away. of course all were cooked as ordered, but beyond that, the taste was phenomenal. even though i am a dedicated rib eye fan, i have to admit this was one of the best steaks i've had in a long time. desserts were equally as impressive and the recommended wine was great too. my one complaint is that they didn't do the normal pre-order steak & lobster presentation, but they certainly made up for it. all-around this was one of the best dining experiences i've had in a long time.

i will probably always balk some at the price, based on the amazing non-chain options charlotte has, but my wife has already informed me that she knows what she wants for her birthday meal this year.

kudos to charlotte's mortons for stepping it up during restaurant week and converting a skeptic into a repeat customer.
