momma's mustard pickles and bbq

worst first experience ever. it took them 57minutes to bring our food to us, when the food got to the table the baked beans and the mac and cheese was cold, my ribs were burnt and our waiter was not professional at all. i do not recommend this place,i wouldn't even feed it to my dog. if you are looking for a greatbbqspot i recommend shack in the back the food is way better, it's is also cheaper and the staff are very polite.

trinity stoners?. pretty sure my waiter was stoned....if not, he acted like it.bbqwas quite good, but there's other places that are quite good and don't have these waiters.

on my first visit i tried the brisket, pulled pork and wings. all was wonderful and with the right taste. i don't claim to know who has the best bbq, but i can say i've had some of the best. momma's would fall into that category. brian, was a great server and all-around can-do person while i was there. very friendly and professional. if i owned a business i would want him to be on-board. momma's isn't the most coziest ofbbqrestaurants concerning atmosphere, but the food is spot on.

the food was good; the service wasn't.

when i travel out of state i like to hit up the "good spots" in the town i am visiting. i had heard very good things about mama's.

our group of 4 walked in at about 5pm to a fairly busy dinner crowd (no line, some empty tables). we found a booth, got our menus, ordered our food, and waited a short time before the food arrived.

i will say, the food was good. my dry rubbed rack of pork ribs really hit the spot, but came with no other sides but 2 slices of toast for $24. my sister ordered a pulled pork salad with ranch dressing. my brother and sister-in-law both ordered brisket sandwiches.

once our food arrived our near empty cups remained so throughout the rest of the meal. in fact, once the plates were dropped, we were never checked on, our drinks were never filled, my sister's ranch dressing was never received, and the additional sides we would have ordered were not ordered.

all attempts to gain the numerous employees attentions were done so in vain. all floor staff seemed to have mastered the brisk-walk, stare-at-the-floor, and ignore all sounds, waves, and attempts at contact approach to waiting tables.

i had to get up and ask for our bill after waiting... and waiting.... and waiting... and waiting....

with so many otherbbqplaces available in louisville i would not recommend you give 'em a taste.

i stopped by for a quick carry-out order, so i can't speak on the actual dining experience. the environment was very relaxed. almost a little too casual. several employees were cursing and talking loudly about politics, which was a little off putting.

the food itself was excellent. the sides were definitely hit or miss(aside from the fried pickles, which are the i have ever had), as tends to be the standard withbbqplaces. the meat was obviously the main focus. it was great and the portions were huge for the price.

really greatbbqand awesome wings. the only disappointment was the service. i understand if someone is busy but our server didn't check on us once after delivering our meal, not to inquire about refills or to see if we needed anything else. nice but a bit negligent is the best way to describe the service side which at times was hard to notice because of the great food.

this place has the bestbbqand wings ever. it's so good and has good prices as well. yummy. this place is delicious. yummy yummy yummy yummy

louisville has many greatbbqjoints in town. momma a does a good job of standing out in the pack but feast smoke town and fabd still hold the collective titles. the brisket is top notch with lots of flavor. the ribs were disappointing as they were to dry for my taste. that being said i've been there several times and the service is great. thebbqis really good and this place is certainly worth a visit. oh and the beer menu is great lots of local options so that's a win.

this is my favorite place to go forbbqin louisville. i have never had a bad experience here. it is nothing fancy on the inside but their food packs a punch. in addition to thebbqthe sides are awesome too. some of the best coleslaw i have ever had!!

atmosphere was typical of a barbeque place and was nice. the service was great and the staff very friendly. the price was average. the food was mixed. my friend had 1/2 chicken, fries, and slaw. the chicken was moist and had a good smokey flavor. the fries were really good with a seasoning on them. neither of us cared for the slaw. it was a vinegar base and we both prefer ours sweeter and creamy; it was neither. i had a pulled pork slider, brisket slider, baked beans, and potato salad. the pulled pork was good. it was already sauced (not how i'm used to it since i'm from alabama) but it was smokey, moist, and i liked the sauce. the brisket was disappointing. i love brisket but it was too dry for my taste. the baked beans were good but i added somebbqsauce at the table for extra flavor. the potato salad was not for me. it was mustard based and i like that but it was missing something, possibly sweet pickles or relish. we also had a order of wings as an appetizer, and they stole the show!!!! they were hands down, the best wings i have ever eaten. they appeared to be smoked with a dry rub (?) and then fried. they were perfect. they were crispy, smokey, and yet tender and juicy. i sauced them a little because i really liked the two sauces at the table but they did not need sauce. if i was a tad bit underwhelmed by other items, i was overwhelmed by the wings. the pickles and mustard were also good. i will definitely go back to this place, but next time it's strictly wings, fries, baked beans, and sweet tea (which was good as well).

loved it hated it!. the first time i went to mama's i went with my co-worker for lunch. we had a great time. the food was fantastic and the service was very good. our waitress took care to explain the choices and guided us to the right choices for our tastes. plus the pickles and mustard were terrific and we loved it all. about a month later my husband and i were looking for a dinner spot and i suggested mama'sbbqto him. he hated the sticky concrete floors. it's a little annoying to have your shoes stick to the floor. we wanted to order the burnt ends and our waitress said they were not available. she suggested another option. my husband ordered it and we had to send it back. i stuck with the grilled cheese and it was very good. my husband didn't like the potato salad. the potatoes were crunchy. i ordered the bread pudding. it might have been good but it was noticably microwaved. it had very cold and very hot spots. i wouldn't recommend it. it might be good right out of the oven though. our waitress was helter skelter. she didn't refill our drinks or check on us at all but hung out at the bar. people came and went that got there after us. we had to ask for our bill and she never came back to cash us out so my husband had to go to the bar cash register to cash out. when she finally came back i asked her about the pickles and she said oh i forgot them. hum. i am pretty sure we won't be going back to the hurstbourne location. location is questionable too for a family style restaurant. i give it three months. adios mama's.

rude.... i stopped by the momma's on hurstbourne on saturday afternoon (8/30) to place a carry-out order. there were two parties in the restaurant (a total of about 6 people). after placing my order and paying for it, i commented to the waiter: "it's the first saturday of college football and all four tvs are on soccer?" he replied: "we're louisville fans here. we don't care about any of those other games. we're only interested in monday". then he turned and went to the kitchen. he didn't offer to turn a channel on one of the four tvs (three of which no one was watching). he didn't come back out until he brought my food 10-15 minutes later.

maybe he was kidding. maybe he wasn't. one thing he definitely was, though, was rude. yourbbqisn't good enough to treat a customer that way. i would hope momma raised you better than that.

great find. this is by far a great place forbbqthe food was plenty and the staff was friendly you have to try the pickles made fresh there

find it hard to believe a owner could be so low to try and take down a competitor with lies. let thebbqdo the talking.. and it clearly still is. i see a for sale sign in your future:)
