worst first experience ever. it took them 57minutes to bring our food to us, when the food got to the table the baked beans and the mac and cheese was cold, my ribs were burnt and our waiter was not professional at all. i do not recommend this place,i wouldn't even feed it to my dog. if you are looking for a great bbq spot i recommend shack in the back the food is way better, it's is also cheaper and the staff are very polite.

trinity stoners?. pretty sure my waiter was stoned....if not, he acted like it. bbq was quite good, but there's other places that are quite good and don't have these waiters.

visited for lunch recently and had their slider sampler and a side of mac and cheese. the mac and cheese was fairy tasteless. the five different meats were well prepared, but not exceptionally better than other q locations out in the state. honestly, the best item i tried was one of their wings--excellent! the place is clean and service is attentive. a very well-stocked bar with an abundance of bourbons.

great location and great food. i wish there was a 4.5 option like there used to be on urban spoon... cool bar downstairs and nice seating upstairs. food is predictable. :)

on my first visit i tried the brisket, pulled pork and wings. all was wonderful and with the right taste. i don't claim to know who has the best bbq, but i can say i've had some of the best. momma's would fall into that category. brian, was a great server and all-around can-do person while i was there. very friendly and professional. if i owned a business i would want him to be on-board. momma's isn't the most coziest of bbq restaurants concerning atmosphere, but the food is spot on.

the food was good; the service wasn't.

when i travel out of state i like to hit up the "good spots" in the town i am visiting. i had heard very good things about mama's.

our group of 4 walked in at about 5pm to a fairly busy dinner crowd (no line, some empty tables). we found a booth, got our menus, ordered our food, and waited a short time before the food arrived.

i will say, the food was good. my dry rubbed rack of pork ribs really hit the spot, but came with no other sides but 2 slices of toast for $24. my sister ordered a pulled pork salad with ranch dressing. my brother and sister-in-law both ordered brisket sandwiches.

once our food arrived our near empty cups remained so throughout the rest of the meal. in fact, once the plates were dropped, we were never checked on, our drinks were never filled, my sister's ranch dressing was never received, and the additional sides we would have ordered were not ordered.

all attempts to gain the numerous employees attentions were done so in vain. all floor staff seemed to have mastered the brisk-walk, stare-at-the-floor, and ignore all sounds, waves, and attempts at contact approach to waiting tables.

i had to get up and ask for our bill after waiting... and waiting.... and waiting... and waiting....

with so many other bbq places available in louisville i would not recommend you give 'em a taste.

we stopped at momma's for the first time while traveling through louisville. we heard about momma's on food network's diners, drive ins, and dives. some great options to choose from. normally i would have tried their smoked meat by the pound or huge beef ribs. however, i wanted to try a few of their options. so, my wife and i got three sliders (pork, brisket, and chicken), an order of their fried pickles, a side of cheesy corn, and i added four wings. every thing was great.
their meat is all dry rubbed and smoked. the pork, chicken, and brisket were perfect. this was my first time tasting smoked wings, and it won't be my last! the fried pickles (which were made using sweet pickles) were great, and i hate pickles.
we will be stopping back at momma's on our way back through louisville!

i stopped by for a quick carry-out order, so i can't speak on the actual dining experience. the environment was very relaxed. almost a little too casual. several employees were cursing and talking loudly about politics, which was a little off putting.

the food itself was excellent. the sides were definitely hit or miss(aside from the fried pickles, which are the i have ever had), as tends to be the standard with bbq places. the meat was obviously the main focus. it was great and the portions were huge for the price.

really great bbq and awesome wings. the only disappointment was the service. i understand if someone is busy but our server didn't check on us once after delivering our meal, not to inquire about refills or to see if we needed anything else. nice but a bit negligent is the best way to describe the service side which at times was hard to notice because of the great food.

i had the smoked sausage sandwich which was great, juicy and flavorful (i'll be going back just for that) ...disappointed in the pulled chicken which had lots of parts that probably should have been tossed when the bird was being prepared.

louisville has many great bbq joints in town. momma a does a good job of standing out in the pack but feast smoke town and fabd still hold the collective titles. the brisket is top notch with lots of flavor. the ribs were disappointing as they were to dry for my taste. that being said i've been there several times and the service is great. the bbq is really good and this place is certainly worth a visit. oh and the beer menu is great lots of local options so that's a win.

best wings in louisville unfortunately accompanied by the worst service. half the staff is friendly and pleasant, while the other half is blatantly rude. i've been more than a few times because of the wings and solid tv setup for games but today was my last visit. be nicer to people.
