finding this place is half the fun. go through the wooden door and down the stairs, and you'll find the warmth and charm of a cosy old-fashioned speakeasy. it's a little dark inside and the first thing i notice is the long copperbarthat's backlit to highlight all sorts of spirits and other liquors. people at thebarw

my lady and i trotted through the wooden door on saturday night. what a great place. it was moderately busy but thebarstaff / cocktail makers ( cocktailiers?) extraordinaire worked their guts out shaking things and stirring up concoctions with the ease of fairytale witches.
i had a type of old fashioned titled 'are we not men?' well, i know damn well i am. have been for ages! it was unimaginably fantastic. the lady had something red in colour. the name escapes me as i was busy marvelling at my own drink.  our intention was to try a few different drinks but my evening was set. "another 'are we not men' please cocktailier".  the lady had something that may have been greenish possibly with a straw. but my drink was just as fantastically delicious as the first, so little attention was paid.
and so the pattern repeated itself several more times interrupted only by a welcome bowl of pretzels.
 keep on pouring my friends.

a wonderful hiddenbarin the civic area. a wooden door leads you up to the non descript stairs and your only clue that you’ve arrived is the big molly on the tiled floor. another wooden door leads into an amazing looking prohibition style bar. thebaris a stunner and is very old school. with current restrictions it is highly recommended you make a booking so you can visit at a time suitable for you.

the bartenders/mixologists are friendly and helpful. i ordered up at thebarand was offered to make payment then and he brought out my cocktail. i had the london gentleman. it was a very balanced and smooth drink. very easy to drink. a lovely blend of beeswax gin, raspberry sherry, grapefruit & honey cordial. it may be a bit sweet for most people but it was just right for me.

love it!!! love a good semi-hard-to-find speakeasy. thisbarboasts a serious selection of whiskies, cognac and cocktails. whisky prices vary from $15 to $600 (a glass).
we had a few sailor jerry and drys - no vegan charcuterie options on the menu though :(

today’s food adventure contains a significant liquid component. i don’t get out to bars much because i am old and tired but today we are going to discuss one of the best bars in canberra, a little known gem called molly. it actually feels wrong to discuss this place as the basic premise is that thebaris secretive, inspired by the speakeasy of the prohibition era. it is so awesome though that it warrants discussion.

cool 'hidden' bar. really cool themedbarwith vintage decor, staff dressed up as old schoolbartenders, candle-lit. comfy seating and cosy underground feel. overpriced drinks, but obviously a well thought through drink menu and the bartenders have really good knowledge of drinks. went on a saturday afternoon, so was easy to get a big table, but it's small, so would definitely be hard to get in during peak time. really fun place.

this is a fun speakeasy that i would occasionally go to with the workmates. the bartenders are exceedingly friendly and would accommodate your different tastes and curiosities of different whiskeys. for the non-whiskey drinkers, they also have an array of delicious cocktails. this place is a bit cramped and loud so just prepare yourself for that type of atmosphere. also, although thebaris well-staffed, it does take a bit of time to get your drink. great place to hang with mates but definitely not a quite place to wind down with some whiskey.

if you don't know about it, you wouldn't know it existed. located down the back alley, down a flight of stairs and behind a heavy door is this undergroundbarcalled molly. the ambiance is dark... hidden away to the in crowd... the service is efficient and friendly... top notch professionals. we went down for a couple of drinks... with such a large whisky and cocktail menu... i should have tried but ended up settling for their smallest range of beers possible. all craft but nothing spectacular. great place to chill.. you can even get some food or just meats and cheeses. a great place to go as a group and just relax after a hard day at work. the music is a bit loud making it hard to talk if the person isn't next to you. will definitely come back if i get a chance and hopefully show some sydneysiders this cool canberian hangout.

found refuge at molly when it started raining heavily on our way to another bar, and we were instantly transported to a 1920s prohibition-era speakeasy. it's a themedbarwithout the kitsch, and has top shelf whisky and cocktails to delight any one that discovers it!

i'd like to think this is named for the drug but in all likelihood it probably isn't. however, thebardoes aim to be as transportive as a molly trip...when you enter the place it's certainly obvious what they're going for: a dimly lit, small space in the style of jazz age speakeasys. the place certainly has its charms and while i didn't get to try any of the food, their menu certainly did look enticing,

worstbarever. here's an idea, why don't you put your exact address in advertising along with a sign out the front saying molly's.

or would you prefer your customers to play hide and seek with their wallets when it comes to paying for their drinks, just like you play hide and seek with your address.by the time i had found the place, i had been walking through the rain for an hour, the only thing i wanted to do was go home. spending 1 dollar in that place would only reward such a poorly advertised bar.
