milk & honey bar

oct 2018 - thisplacehas being growing well, have been frequenting often and find the food, service and entertainment really good. still a lover of the teaspot and menu has been changed up a bit. they definitely move up to 4!

2017 - the new addition to monte casino square. its beautifully elegant with a french style decor, quite a change from the previous jenda. the wait staff are also dressed to fit in. the idea was saturday night dinner but the menu is limited. it is on the pricier side, can't justify 4 crumbed prawns at 135. it was also breaded and not tempura as per menu. we also tried the hoisin chicken wings, pototo skins and onion rings. both wings and prawns served with sweet chilli sauce or as they classify it chilli jam, no ginger dipping sauce as per menu. onion rings were flat and not tempura crispy.

for a bar the drinks, cocktail and wine menu is good. there is also no tv in here which i get will damper the look and concept. my teaspot was lovely served in a teapot. service is great and the complimentary truffle honey popcorn was nice. to come in for a quick drink and snack maybe before or after the show is ideal but not aplacel'd linger long enough for. i know i will go back and try thisplaceagain based on location but as the sister branch of limas first impression was just not as good.

open for less than a month, milk & honey is a uniqueplacefor a few reasons: the decor is very special, right down to the french graffiti; the service is excellent, wait staff are very friendly and happy to tweak the menu slightly; and a unique birthday jam that puts a smile on everyone's faces. the food offering tries to be unique - perhaps a little too much? however we tried most items from the starters and a few from the mains, with some ice cream to round things off. honey is a common theme, along with truffle oil that perhaps pops up a few too many times on the menu to remain niche. but the menu is a work-in-progress, so look out for good changes. the cheese burger though, hit the spot. well worth a visit, even if only for the impressive drinks selection.

mother’s day fail.

i am the first person to recommend milk & honey to the population of south africa but milk & honey has fallen so hard in my rankings post mothers day that i actually haven’t even been back to theplaceever since despite its amazing haloumi fries, fried biltong, shisha and seared beef salad.

the mother’s day “spread” consisted of (takes deep breath) 4 rock hard sandwiches with underwhelming fillings, rock hard croissants, checkers macaroons and a milk tart cup. it took 45 minutes for the high tea experience to arrive even though the high tea had been booked by me 24 hours in advance and the restaurant had not even gotten busy for the mothers day service. to top it all off; it didn’t even arrive on a three tier tray; it arrived in plates. even our waiter was like “this is bad sorry guys but here you go”.

mothers day was pretty much ruined until our waiter came along much later and gave my mom some extra bubbly. nice gesture and nice touch from the friendly staff who were clearly working under strange managerial conditions.

i'm sorry to say that this is by far the worst restaurant i've been to in terms of food. decor is stunning, staff are wonderful but the food oh my word is horrendous!! to start i ordered the milk&honey cocktail because it sounded interesting (note to self if a cocktail has chocolate milk and soda water in it don't order it) it was gross..the starter nachos are tasteless, the prawn salad was the only mildly okay-ish dish, i had the duck & cherry pot pie which the middle of the pastry was raw and the inner filling was mostly oil...so much oil it was sickening to eat so i just left it, my hubby said his main tasted like a steak from wimpy! didn't trust to order dessert from thatplaceso just left and went elsewhere in monte for dessert ..will never return not even for drinks

thisplaceis the epitome of class and elegance. tops in every way. the waiters are beautifully presented and well dressed. the teams are friendly and knowledgeable. chandeliers, french sayings, black and white decor, thisplaceoozes beauty. the music is trendy and inviting....wine list and menu is extensive and perfectly paired. chef justine is just the best. sister restaurant to lima tapas and you now know why. worth it. be there again soon.

a lovelyplacewhere you can have dinner and enjoy some relaxed time with a friend, partner or a combination. the food menus is a bit thing though - not much to go on.

this is normally aplacefor drinks with friends and enjoying great vibes. they do serve food but they are quite pricey so i only managed to sample their milk tart dessert. the milk tart dessert was in effect a milk tart ice cream with cookie crumble. it really looked pretty but it was a bit too sweet. overall, thisplacedoes have a good vibe and the location elevates the atmosphere of the place.

thisplaceis a massive waste of money. for what you pay and what you get, you definitely don’t getting your moneys worth. i will not be returning to this venue

thisplaceis a vibe! their signature cocktail is the one, it even comes in a beautiful pineapple jar! the food is good - not amazing. i ordered the chicken bun and i felt that the chicken could of been cooked a bit more, it was still quite fatty. the flavors were amazing though.

had a lovely waitress and a warm welcome from the host. cocktails are pricey but good. really enjoyed the good, ordered chicken popcorn, pan fried calamari, chicken wings and my favourite - the halloumi fries! dj creates a good vibe and the decor is appealing. enjoy theplaceeach time i visit, look forward to returning.

my eating experience has been strictly prohibited to their cocktail menu but that is what i expect of aplacelike this and it was 5star. white dj needs to play less r kelly. it is a calm bop thou!!!!!

a super coolplacewith a great vibe.

the decor is classy and feels very welcoming. we were greeted at the entrance and then taken to our seats.

the dj was really good, keeping the vibe of the bar chilled yet exciting.

service was a little slow. our bottle of wine came first, we then waited a little before our cocktail and whiskey arrived at the table.

drinks are a little pricey so be aware that you are going to fork out a little more when visiting milk and honey bar.

the food menu looks appetising and i'd love to review thisplaceagain once i've tried their food menu.

i’ve been here a couple of times for drinks. theplacehas been extremely well done up and it has a very chic feel to it. the service is top notch and the presentation of drinks is also top drawer. i haven’t eaten here so i can’t comment on the food. i would definitely recommend it for pre or post dinner drinks.

love the ambience, although i feel theplaceis good for coming out for a drink, the drinks are good and different, their food is definitely not worth the price.

ordered their cheese burger with the rump medium to rare, only to find that it's a patty (minced), asked that they cook it through because i thought it was a steak burger hence the medium to rare and they just poured more source on the patty. my friends had the platter and it was cold.

i really enjoyed my visit at this outlet. although we only had a few drinks (no food) i liked the vibe of the place, the crowd and the fact that both indoor and outdoor seating areas were well connected and you could enjoy the dj from anywhere in the restaurant. the service was friendly and efficient. a very pleasant discovery and aplaceto re-visit soon
