miga korean bbq & japanese

not a run-of-the-mill eatery. excellent attention to ingredients and to presentation. i had a couple of entrees followed by the excellent squid and pork stir fry. the spice level was a bit too mild for me, but easily fixed with a side bowl of the traditional korean chilli sauce which they also (like kimchi) make themselves.foodwas very fresh, cooked to perfection.
i paid $37 for all of this including a glass of wine. bargain. in wellington or auckland you'd pay $60 bucks for this so miga is relatively cheap in comparison.

i highly recommend them - as an infrequent visitor to dunedin i am pleased i found this place.

i am always impressed by miga's innovation, deliciousfoodand friendly, knowledgeable staff. they even remembered that my friend was vegetarian and offered her many vegetarian options! we have had many good dinners at miga and hope to have many more! especially if we get to try more of the amazing tapas. the korean bbq option is great fun too... dinner and a show! everything you order is excellent value for money. i cannot recommend miga enough!

we dined at miga to catch up with friends while down for my graduation. when we booked, i didn't know they were closed sundays, when i realised this, i phoned them to check there had not been a mix up with dates. they said no, they were going to open especially for us so we had the restaurant all to ourselves.

the staff were very friendly, extremely accommodating, and provided great service.

the service and meal we had at miga was so much better than the meal we had the night before at another well known dunedin restaurant, and it was half the price.

dining at miga was one of the best dining experiences i have had in a very long time.

love the atmosphere and love the food! have been to this place many times now and the service has always been friendly even if it does get a bit busy. unfortunately thefoodcomes at a steep price for us students, but still, best korean restaurant in dunedin :)

not really impressivefoodbut it's definitely fit for a group of people with a tight budget. took them long enough to set our tables but maybe because we were there early. they did not serve the appetisers and water until we requested to do so. their appetisers are different from what we expected too and is not a wide variety of appetisers.

this place is really good. service is good and they can explain the various dished. when we got the bill $$$ even better $80 for 3 people and we had stacks offoodas you will see in the pictures. at the uni end of town might make the prices more reasonable. great host.

fantastic food,fantastic service and great value for money. thefoodcomes out very fast. i thought the owner was great in recommending other dishes when i wanted a dish and it wasn't available today. i have never had korean but i thought i might try it after hearing alot of good reviews and wanted to try out a korean restaurant.

i had the ojingoh for lunch and loved the side dishes. the kimchi was the best i ever had.

i will be back in the future definitely which i look forward to

wow! korean bbq is always a hit, but what they served us at miga's was outstanding. every single dish was a taste festival for your tongue and definitely the best kimchi i ever ate. sides were refilled plenty of times but we've not been charged for it! truly deliciousfoodand great value for your money! also we've never been serviced that nicely in nz before. if we ever come back to nz we'll definitely visit miga again!!

sad to find such a great restaurant in a city i don't live in :-)

miga is sufficient justification for a return trip to dunedin.

i had a leaving party with 20 friends last night. the service was outstanding; friendly, personable, fast and highly attentive to our needs including specific dietary requirements. the staff went out of their way to make our night a memorable one!

thefoodwas excellent; a diversity of flavours, nice portion sizes, and it was all beautifully prepared and presented. we all ordered the $28 banquet and the pork shabu shabu. each course seemed to flow out seamlessly; just as we were finishing one the next was coming out and it was all delicious!

the atmosphere was warm, cosy and welcoming. i liked the soft lighting, subtle decoration and norah jones in the background setting the mood.

the whole place just felt like it was full of a genuine positivity and happiness. we all left with happy hearts and very happy tummies!

i organized a university tournament earlier this year, part of which required organizing a dinner for about 70 people, a group which included vegetarians, vegans, gluten allergies, sea-food allergies, and halal requirements.
miga were excellent to deal with. thefoodwas delicious and plentiful. everyone with special requirements hadfoodthat was just as good as the 'normal' food. if somebody had an allergy the staff would make a point of explaining exactly what was in every dish to ensure that there was no chance of something being eaten that would cause a reaction. my friend who has a extremely sensitive sea-food allergy said that she has never felt so taken care of in a restaurant.
the service was excellent. everyone from the owner/manager to the wait staff to the chief were a dream to work with.
i would strongly recommend that anyone who is looking to cater for a large group in dunedin consider miga. the service, food, atmosphere and all over experience are unparalleled.

excellent meal, service and over all experience! i came with a group of twelve, and despite warnings that meals for such a large group on a busy night may come out at different times, they were prepared quickly and came out together.
thefoodits self was great and provided something a little different and exciting, and we were all very happy with the price. our waiter was friendly and engaging which added to the over all experience.
every one had a great night and i will definitely return, and suggest it to others.

i normally don't make reviews, but this was simply the best meal out we have had in dunedin for a long time. to say thefoodwas excellent is an understatement. we will be back again, and soon, and will recommend this to everyone we know!

first came here after getting a voucher from treat me and have come back several times since. thefoodis usually divine -- the great flavours and textures, plus diverse appetisers and authentic beers. very friendly service and a nice atmosphere too -- they've made the most of the building where hanami used to. my experiences haven't quite been perfect -- i had one bad lunch experience (dry, burned rice) and the dinner menu is a little expensive. but a great, authentic korean restaurant nevertheless.
