a well known publication, "big d magazine", had this rated as one of the top 8 tex-mex restaurants in dallas...and the place was just three minutes away from where i worked? gotta give it a try..
pro's: fast service, tasty free chips, bee (best enchilada's ever), outstanding bean soup, sopapilla excellent
con's: salsa's and refried beans average, location
the location is very unassuming, located in a strip mall where about 25% of the space is for lease - you would not think that this was a highly rated restaurant. not very busy on a saturday @ 2:00pm, though the interior was very warm and inviting. covered patio was an option for those wanting to sit outside.
theservicewas very fast, as they had the order ready about 5 minutes after placing it. the chips were the tastiest free chips that i can recall at a restaurant, though the salsa's were very average. i ordered chicken enchilada's with sour cream sauce, which might be the best i have ever eaten. taste, texture, and presentation were all there. bean soup was fresh and colorful, again with great taste. refried beans were average.
the desert, a sopapilla, was also the best that i have tasted in recent memory. it was huge and very light & flaky, just like one should be.
scored a "like" from me, also made it a "favorite". d magazine was right on this one, absolutely outstanding tex-mex!
