menas tex-mex grill cantina

this is one of my favorite restaurants ever. we moved from the area and recently returned and got to eat third again. thefoodis fantastic and reasonably priced. service is great. love it. the chefs special is my go to but the summer fajitas are am sizing as well. we have had half of the items on the menu and have never been disappointed.

the labor day weekend is here! with some extra time we stopped at mena’s for lunch.

om: i have only been here once a few years ago and remember it being very good. the restaurant was not very busy around 11:15am on a friday, so we got seated immediately and received our chips. they were just fine, i’ve had a few better, also have had worse. salsa a bit too hot for me, but the queso was really good and hit the spot, highly recommend. i ordered two enchilada’s, a beef taco, and rice & beans. our order came out in very short time, in less than five minutes! all thefoodwas fantastic. the beef taco was crammed with ground beef, no skimping on the meat here! the enchiladas were also great – one chicken one cheese. the cheese enchilada had a good rich taste, and the sour cream chicken enchilada might be one of the best that i’ve had! we topped things off with a sopapilla. wow, it was huge! and they put some kind of cool whip on the side with a drizzle of chocolate! outstanding combination! never had it like that before at any other restaurant. the service was good, thefoodquality was great, but we did pay a bit of a premium for two people – around $27. still, this is surely one of the best tex-mex restaurants that i’ve been too.

nom: this restaurant is so close to work i’m surprised i’ve never been there so this is a welcome close to work tex mex gem! we got there early and they were not busy yet so that was wonderful! we could take our time and investigate their huge menu! my handsome love is right, the chips are fine but the queso is wonderful. wonderful blend of cheese and salsa. highly recommend you try a cup given the chance! i ordered from the kids menu and i had the chicken flautas with rice and beans! what delicious flautas! they are crispy, well-seasoned and stuffed full of white meat chicken! wow!!! and i have to rave about their mexican rice. amazing…sooooo good! i don’t know what they did to create this magical rice but i could eat a bowl of rice by itself. we wrapped up our meal with a sopapilla. this thing was huge, literally the biggest sopapilla i’ve ever seen. and fried to perfection and served with a large swipe of whipped cream with chocolate syrup! ok, so pricy but worth it because thefoodis awesome!!! i can’t wait to try it again with my handsome love!!!

the atmosphere is the best part.... thefoodwas mediocre and the service was similar. refills of drinks were few and far between. the queso is fairly bland and is reminiscent of microwave dinner queso. the broth in the chicken tortilla soup was on the salty side. our special request for queso instead of chile sauce was not honored. when the entrees arrived, thefoodlooked great! the taste was lackluster and quite disappointing. i will say that i was told the shrimp was well cooked by a person in my party. i asked to see the dessert menu but our checks arrived instead. i don't see myself returning.

good service andfoodfor the neighborhood. just ordered to go $60 worth. ribeye fajitas not med rare as requested .seemed precooked. disorganized bags per order nonetheless. good food.

my thoughts on menas. i would just like to say this place is beautiful inside, thefoodis excellent, and the people make you feel like your home away from home, ive never had anything but good experiences here, if your into drinks try a classic blue hawaiian, the bar tenders know me and just keep chips and salsa coming, i mean come on people this place blows uncle julio out the water, you wont find a better place to enjoy some top notch tex mex

great place to bring your kids. i eat here frequently with my local family. my dad introduced me to this restraunt when i moved to dallas, as he has been eating here for a while now. the staff are always very pleasant, thefoodis always fresh and delicious, and the atmosphere is great for a date, a family meal, or even just to spend time with good friends. i will always recommend mena's to anyone.

great little place in the burbs!. don't believe reviewer "gary" for one second. i don't get over to mena's very often, but when i do - the service is great, the portions are nice and thefoodis on par with any tex-mex joint in dallas. great queso, tortillas, and every dish i've had here in the last six months has been pretty darn amazing. pass up the fastfoodmex down the street and give mena's a chance.

most disrespectful place i have ever been. the absolute most disrespectful place i have ever been. we went there on sun. sept. 13 for dinner, and we were treated so badly, we will never go back. i can not eat refried beans, because they bother me. when we asked the waiter about substituting a different kind of bean, he informed us it there would be a $1.50 charge to do so, which is ridiculous, and we said so. the waiter was nice, and this wasn't his fault. i have never been anywhere that would not accommodate something like this, and none have ever charged $1.50. most do it for free, and if there is any charge, i've never seen it be more than .50 cents. that is an incredibly stupid policy, and any decent manager would have taken care of it, but not the crap manager of this place.

we asked to speak to the manager, and the waiter said he had already told him. the manager was walking around talking to people, but he completely ignored us, and our request. the guy is a complete wuss and he showed it. this was very disrespectful to paying customers, and this is how this place treats customers. i have never been to a place where the manager just completely ignored a request to speak to them. it's his job to talk to talk to people, and resolve any complaints, but this one would neither talk to us, or even acknowledge us. we wrote them through their website. and they were even too chicken to respond to our emails. i do not tolerate being treated like this, and i will make it known everywhere i can.

so just so you know, this place does not treat it's customers with any respect whatsoever, and it not the kind of place i do business with. plus thefoodreally isn't that good, and it's not worth eating there at all.

tasty food. tastyfoodand quick service. this place changed from a few years ago. it used to be horrible all the way around. i have even seen wait staff from christina's eating there. on friday and saturday evenings it can become very busy.

best-kept secret in carrollton. this place is a wonderful surprise located at the end of an unassuming and mostly vacant shopping center at the corner of trinity mills and marsh. the atmosphere is vibrant and the setting is enjoyable, but without chaos and shouting like at on the border. thefoodis solid and consistent. my regulars are pollo parilla, shrimp mole enchiladas, grandma's tacos and shrimo mojo de ajo (on the specials board usually). mojitos and margaritas are hand-made, delicious and a good value. they have a guitar player on fri-sat that is wonderful and plays a good variety. the owners pablo and maurice are always smiling, friendly and appreciative.

the chipolte brisket tacos were a solid choice as previous posts had suggested....but i have to say the chicken fajitas were even better! you won't go wrong with either. you must try the pineapple mojito because it's amazing. greatfoodwith outstanding mojitos is my kinda joint. too bad i'm not sure when i'll be back in the neighborhood. vacation can't last forever...

great texmex. we usually head to blue goose or mi cocina, but one night we tried this on the recommendation of our son. now, we head to mena's more often than the other two. from the outside, it looks like any restaurant, but going through the door, you feel like you're in mexico. the decor is great. the drinks are very well made, the chips and salsa excellent and i haven't been disappointed in anyfooditems we've had. i definitely recommend. service is also quite good.
