calling these massive sandwichesgrilledcheese is not really an accurate description. the bread is too thick and there is no emphasis on the cheese. with that said the beer list at melt is great and worthy of a stop for a few pints at their large bar.

oh my melt!. i have been to melt bar &grilledthree times now - twice at lunchtime and once at dinnertime - and i have yet to be disappointed. between my husband and me, we have tried six different sandwiches. he usually tries the monthly special (chicken and waffles once and the new bomb turkey this month). i have tried vegan options and the godfather. we usually take half our meals home because the sandwiches are huge and there are plenty of fries. they also have a nice craft beer selection. i always look forward to a meal at melt bar & grilled.

wow what an awesome sandwich! after trying melt for the first time, i can't understand the amount of negative reviews; my meal was incredible!
i ordered the winter chicken: honey dijon chicken with pepper jack, mozzarella cheese sticks, andgrilledonions and peppers. the pulled chicken was really moist and the slightly sweet honey dijon went perfectly with the spiciness of the peppers and pepper jack cheese. the mozzarella sticks were incredible, and i would've easily accepted them as an appetizer at any restaurant. they added extra cheesy goodness for a perfectgrilledcheese. and last but not least for a solidgrilledcheese: the bread. melt got this perfect too; it was buttery but not greasy and toasted outside but super soft inside. the sandwich came with a heaping pile of fries which were decent but definitely some of those fries that "need ketchup" to be good if you know what i mean.
the atmosphere is really cool with interesting decorations and awesome music as well. the servers even walked around singing along to some of the songs. one word of caution: come very hungry because the sandwiches are huge! i'm normally a pretty big eater but i couldn't finish this massive sandwich and all the fries.

decent food-need more space. i visited melt bar &grilledwith a friend early this year. we waited almost an hour to be seated. the dining area is very compact and a little uncomfortable. i ordered the curry chicken melt, it was decent although a little sweet for my taste. melt is an innteresting place but not necessarily worth the hassle.

don't waste your time! the short north has far to many great places to eat to wait 2 hours to get agrilledcheese. i was recently at melt with a party of 10. when they sat us at our table after waiting 2 hours it only sat 8. the couple next to us were getting up and i asked if we could have the table. the manager told me no; people have been waiting to long and we would have to squeeze in at our table. he didn't do it nicely either. we then wait for an hour to get our food. it wasn't great food; it was a terrible experience. what takes so long to make mediocre bar food anyways.

gourmetgrilledcheese was a relatively new concept for me before i went to melt bar andgrilled for the first time, and with the innovative, delicious, and fantastic sandwiches at melt , i am thrilled with this new trend.  of note is that melt  has weekly changing specials which i would suggest taking a look at on their website .        if you ever plan ahead of going to melt  ahead of time, i have one simple suggestion for you, save room.  every melt  grilled cheese sandwich comes with the massive sandwich, a huge serving of delicious french fries, and a pickle.  even for a hungry teenager my first several visits to melt  resulted in me taking about half of my sandwich home.  no complaints here of course, the sandwiches are just as good later on.  the prices are relatively low for a restaurant with such big portions so keep in mind the portion size when dining their or considering where to dine at.        now to talk about my favor

good grub, noisy venue. large portions of good food. my first gfgrilledsandwich i ordered out in 5 years and it was delicious! we ordered thegrilledcheese options ... cleveland cheese steak and perogi sandwiches. both were excellent. arrived piping hot and had good flavor. we each took a 1/2 sandwich and the fries home. at the restaurant we were under impressed with the side of fries but take them home they were excellent the next day thrown into a skillet while reheading your leftover sandwich. our server was great, friendly and knew the menu well.

we went at for an early weekday lunch and it was only 1/2 full and the noise level was pretty loud, no sound dampening what-so-ever in the place. we snagged a meter to park at out front without much effort. we learned later there is a small parking lot to the north off hubbard with free parking for the restaruant.

get the war pig.. i went to melt for the first time with a friend. i was leaning toward the backyard bbq sandwich, but i enticed with the war pig sandwich. the war pig has espresso & ancho rubbed pork, seared pork belly, honey ham, tamale cake, house made mole sauce, crispy chicharrones, pepper-jack. my friend had a couple of bites along with the fries. she enjoyed it. every sandwich from melt can make about 2-4 meals out it. i ate mine up on first sitting, but share some with my friend. i will be back to melt again, trying anothergrilledcheese sandwich that melt has.
