deliciousness!. upon my return from singapore, i craved a big bowl of real ramen and this brought me to meiji. since then, my fiance and i return regularly for ramen and other innovative fusion dishes. i am from the san francisco bay area and have traveled extensively in s.e. asia. i am not a huge fan of sashimi but love assorted sushi rolls. below are my favorite meiji offerings:
pork nama ramen- i appreciate the rich broth and local veggies this ramen is comprised of. the chashu (braised pork) tantalizes my taste buds with soy and ginger. the noodles are the thinner ones; which i prefer.
spicy miso ramen- the kick of spice definitely warms me up and i love the lighter broth.
softshell crab tacos with shishito peppers and guacamole- 3 little tacos that were scrumptious.
fried rice is the best i've had in arkansas. the pieces of veggie arefreshand flavorful.
specialty rolls are lovely esp. bravo white, coral, and spider
char-grilled shishito peppers-slightly spicy char-grilled veggie deliciousness!
the fried apple dumplings for dessert are intensely decadent and good to share

good food!. we went to meiji for lunch with a group. it was a very pleasant experience, and the waitress did a very good job of getting everything for everybody and being attentive to detail. i ordered the bento box with 2 items, nigiri and maki, and the fried rice ($11). the bento with a salad with the traditional japanese dressing (very good), edamame, thinly sliced cucumber and zucchini, 4 pieces of nigiri, at least 8 pieces of maki. and a generous portion of fried rice. much more than i usually eat for lunch, for a very reasonable price. the fish was of excellent quality, and the rolls were veryfreshand delicious. they were worth the wait. the pickled ginger was wonderful. i will definitely go again!

customer reviews. at meiji, we appreciate and encourage feedback from our guests. while i am pleased that so many of you have taken the time to post positive reviews, i hate to see that some of you have been disappointed by the time that it takes for your meals to be prepared.
meiji is not the quickest restaurant in town, and i’d like to explain why. many japanese restaurants will prepare rolls at the beginning of the day so that hours later they can be quickly topped, garnished, and served. from the start, meiji has served only premium fish, house-made sauces, and every roll made to order—never stored. sometimes that means a longer wait, especially during peak dinner hours, but i’m not willing to sacrifice quality for quick service. if you are in a hurry, please let your server know, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you and to suggest menu items that can be served more quickly.
even though we aim for perfection, mistakes do happen, and i hope that you will let me or my staff know when you are disappointed—we’ll do our best to make it right. contact me directly at: 479 521 5919

not wow'd. went for lunch today was really excited to try a new place. i'm from hawaii where i know myfreshfish and love nigiri (real) sushi. i was a little disappointed. the rice was a little dry and bland. the fish pieces had lots of membrane making it chewy. my husband had chicken katsu which was dry (overcooked). the restaurant is beautiful and service was good but not sure i'll be back, if i do come back i'll stick to the faux sushi or just order unagi that was good.

best sushi in northwest arkansas. meiji is the best place for sushi in northwest arkansas. i am from the west coast and when i brought some family and friends in for dinner one night they thought i was crazy for taking them to sushi in arkansas. they agreed that it is excellent. the fish isfreshand the service is excellent. they also have the best fried rice i have ever had, if you haven't tried it you are missing out. my favorite roll is the daikon roll and you can't go wrong with any of the nigiri

good experience. i went here saturday night with my sister and her boyfriend, it was quick service even though it was very crowded. the waitress was very nice even though we took a while to decide what we wanted. the sake we ordered was nice tasting, but i don't remember what it was called. i got the chirashi, very good. it was veryfreshand interesting, though the rice underneath the fish was a bit bland. i expect a bit more rice vinegar in my sushi rice i guess. i got to try a piece of spicy tuna roll and green goddess roll and both were delicious and well made.

since the recent expansion, it seems like the sashimi/sushi quality control has slipped a bit. we had dinner last night and the sashimi my wife had was notfreshand very "fishy" tasting and smelling. the green goddess roll was not wrapped as tight almost sloppy in appearance.

if business is booming, by all means expand to meet the needs of the customer, but please don't skimp onfreshingredients and quality control. i've seen to many good restaurants go lax in this area and they ultimately paid for it later.

best sushi in fayetteville. finally got to try meji, and now i am confused. we walked up and the line was out the door. it's 7 o'clock, so it was prime time. i am thinking wow, i've heard a lot of good thing, but i wasn't expecting a line out the door. however, we must have all got there at once because there were several tables open. they were out of regular menus, so we were given to go menus. everything seemed to be in complete chaos. our waiter was new and took our drink order, but didn't know the drink list. about ten minutes later another waiter came and took our drink order. almost 25 minutes later we got our drinks and ordered our meal. around 45 minutes later we finally got our meals.

but!

the food is delicious. i got a 3 item box dinner with a salmon roll, spicy tuna roll, and 4 piece nigiri. the sushi was veryfreshand the best ive had in fayetteville. the miso soup was amazing, highly highly recommend it. my fiance(a non-sushi eater) ordered the chicken teriyaki, which she raved about. she said it was the best she ever had, so i had to try it. it was delicious. we also got the steamed gyoza, which were good, but not the best.

overall, i'm confused. meji is definitely better than wasabi, but i had high expectations due to reviews and ratings. the food was very good. the staff seemed new, which could explain the service, which was not that good. meji is the best sushi i've had in fayetteville, but not in nwa. sushi house in bentonville is the best sushi in nwa. i feel like a salesman, but gd this place knows how to do it. i have been to sushi bars in honolulu and la, but this tiny hole in the wall in walmart, usa is the best sushi bar i have ever eaten at. quality fish, fast service, and awesome environment takes sushi house above the rest. if your in fayetteville, then meji is a good bet, but if you are in the rogers/bentonville area go to sushi house.

get it cooked.. have tried the sushi twice now and just not impressed (neitherfreshnor well-formed). however, the chicken teriyaki and miso soup are both excellent. steer clear of the sushi and you will get some good food.
