best sushi in fayetteville. finally got to try meji, and now i am confused. we walked up and the line was out the door. it's 7 o'clock, so it was prime time. i am thinking wow, i've heard a lot of good thing, but i wasn't expecting a line out the door. however, we must have all got there at once because there were several tables open. they were out of regular menus, so we were given to go menus. everything seemed to be in complete chaos. our waiter was new and took our drink order, but didn't know the drink list. about ten minutes later another waiter came and took our drink order. almost 25 minutes later we got our drinks and ordered our meal. around 45 minutes later we finally got our meals.
but!
the food is delicious. i got a 3 item box dinner with a salmon roll, spicy tuna roll, and 4 piece nigiri. the sushi was veryfreshand the best ive had in fayetteville. the miso soup was amazing, highly highly recommend it. my fiance(a non-sushi eater) ordered the chicken teriyaki, which she raved about. she said it was the best she ever had, so i had to try it. it was delicious. we also got the steamed gyoza, which were good, but not the best.
overall, i'm confused. meji is definitely better than wasabi, but i had high expectations due to reviews and ratings. the food was very good. the staff seemed new, which could explain the service, which was not that good. meji is the best sushi i've had in fayetteville, but not in nwa. sushi house in bentonville is the best sushi in nwa. i feel like a salesman, but gd this place knows how to do it. i have been to sushi bars in honolulu and la, but this tiny hole in the wall in walmart, usa is the best sushi bar i have ever eaten at. quality fish, fast service, and awesome environment takes sushi house above the rest. if your in fayetteville, then meji is a good bet, but if you are in the rogers/bentonville area go to sushi house.
