delicious food, service can be spotty. i have been to meiji for work lunches and dinners with my husband. the last few times we've been for dinner, it has been on the weekend and the food has been excellent. i don't know if they've generally improved their food quality or if the weekend is just the best time to eat there. it wasn't bad before...it's just amazing now! and always try at least one of the fish they have gotten in special-yum! we were there just this last saturday, and our waitress was great. unfortunately, i've had a few instances of waitresses that were not so happy to be helping me. other than that, our only complaint is that the special rolls menu is very jalapeno-heavy.

average. don't be fooled by all the positive reviews, this place is nothing special. i had the miso, spicy tuna roll, alaska roll, and chicken teriyaki. all were mediocre quality. however, this place has a quaint modern atmosphere which when augmented by the great service and low prices makes meiji a great location for a romantic night out, as long as your date isn't a sushi connoisseur. feel like i should mention that there was a sign requesting positive reviews on urbanspoon in the front of the restaurant since the reason i tried meiji in the first place was the online reviews. i wonder how many urbanspoon accounts the owner has....all in all a good experience

fresh and tasty. i had a very good meal at this restaurant my friends took me to. we started with crab tacos and edamame. the tacos were to die for!! followed by the rainbow platter and nigiri. it was a very tasty meal and the fish tasted fresh. our server was friendly and service was great. i live out of town but i would love to go there again.

first time sushi delicious!. i admit i haven't tried sushi around the world because this is the first time i've had sushi and it was wonderful. i have been in so many places where you can smell the fish when you walk in and i have generally avoided eating fish any place because it just smelled awful to me. this was delicious and their miso soup was great. i recommend them!

i can't leave my house, haven't eaten in a day and half, and have a no sodium diet restriction i specified. they didn't listen at all, in fact added more salt than normal. now i'm still starving and out $45. i'm a regular but too frustrated i don't think i'll go back right now. dine in great though.

i am very, very sorry to give a bad review of my only, my favorite japanese restaurant in fayetteville, arkansas. my husband and i have been going to meiji for years. we always order the same, because it is the only place where you can get piping hot, delicious miso soup, a salad with the traditional japanese dressing, and the freshest fish for sashimi, nigiri, or rolls. this time, i took my husband there for his birthday. the whole experience was sub-par and very, very disappointing. the waiting time for someone to come to our table was unacceptable. my husband ordered hot sake, and it came out about 20 minutes after and only after reminding the waitress, and it was not as hot as it should be. the soup and the salad were brought at the same time, which should not happen either. if there is something the japanese are good at, it is tradition. that is not the tradition. when after a long, long wait our food was brought out, the order was wrong. my husband had ordered vegetable tempura, and they brought him some fried shrimp roll. then, the portions of sashimi were much smaller than usual, and the salmon had not been skinned properly. on top of it all, the rice for the nigiri and the rolls was not fresh. that is unacceptable. i mentioned this to the waitress. she kindly reported it to the owner, who came out to our table and listened to us. his solution: do you want anything else? no, we did not want anything else. we wanted some understanding and recognition that my husband's birthday dinner had been awful. i thought the owner would say, "your husband's dinner is on us," but he didn't say that, so we paid full price plus tip for a very sub-par meal. meiji, i know we are picky about food, but i lived in japan for two years. the meal i ate at meiji was not acceptable by japanese standards, even in fayetteville, arkansas.

i've enjoyed meiji's a few times and the sushi is expertly prepared and delicious.  the only sushi joint in nwa that actually serves real wasabi as far as i know. a good selection of sake on hand as well.

this is what happens when you have really good food with really bad service. i have been repeat customer for a while and the service has gotten worse with every visit. and my last trip made me no longer a customer. we sat in the lounge where we had to wait 15 minutes for our waitress to say she'll be with us soon( i won't say her name because she may have been having a really off night. i will say it rhymed with katie). after however long it took for to come back and get our order the bartender in the lounge starts losing his sh*t. he's throwing bar glasses on the ground, repeatedly slamming the cooler door, talking to customers about how the boss hasn't paid him and hes going to lose it. the lady next to us was begging he husband to leave because she felt the bartender wasn't to fond of her and her husband. i guess they knew the owner don't know don't care. i looked around at one point while he was telling the customers how badly he should "f*ck this place up" and there was no one other staff to be found. maybe they were all out back talking about how no one is doing anything about the bartender is losing his sh*t and how great it must be to not work for tips. i can't imagine that my waitress gets paid it tips at this point from how bad of a job she's doing. maybe it because the other guy was being an ass and she didn't want to check her sections anymore? who knows? who cares? i did tip her though. very well too. with the note lol lamo. i figured she would need the money because this place must be closing down. but when i drove by yesterday and saw it was still opened i decided to write this review.

when your employee's are breaking glass were people are eating and drinking and turning your restaurant into a shit hole something needs to be done immediately. i was blown away that she even brought us a check. in all the restaurants i've ever worked, if this would have gone on, i would apologize and tell them its on us for ruining your dinner. its not like we were able to get refills on anything! i would give you a zero score if i hadn't been there before when it was nice, and if the chefs hadn't did an great job making or order. whats the point of having that nice decor and the sweet projectors playing anime and godzilla movies if you are going to hire trash to work there.

before all this was my favorite play to get sushi , go on dates, chill and drink sake but now i haven't gone back in a few months don't know if i ever will.

my favorite sushi in nwa. just seems to always be fresh and they do a tremendous job with preparation and presentation. i just turn the chef loose and let him make me stuff. they also have really good miso. the beer and saki selection is top notch too. if you like good sushi this is the place in nwa.

awesome!. consistently great every time we visit! the crab rangoon app is amazing! they are made with actual crab and not imitation "krab". usually go for lunch and get the two item bento box which is around $11, very reasonable pricing.

not your mom's sushi. very unexpected sushi dinner in nwa this evening. some of the freshest, exotic and unassuming fish i've seen at a sushi restaurant in a long time. excellent sashimi!
