the sushi was okay. it tasted pretty typical, but the rolls were falling apart. our waitress was nice, but didn't offer any suggestions even though it was obvious we'd never been there before. the experience was mostly ruined by the chefs talking loudly about a mistake made by a hostess during a take out order. a manager was called out to deal with the situation, but he also loudly chastised the hostess for her mistake. she accidentally sold a menu item they were out of, and wasn't told it was out until after she'd charged the customer. i later heard the chefs making fun of her (loud enough for her and the entire restaurant to hear) because they'd been out of the item for weeks. ummmm... why have you been out of a menu item for weeks?! get more of the item instead of publicly shaming your staff for not knowing. i worked in restaurants for years, and the way this hostess was being treated by the manager and staff is enough for me to stay away from this place. expensive "okay" sushi is not worth sitting through a bunch of drama. maybe if the chef had spent more time on my sushi rolls and less time trying to act cool my food wouldn't have been falling apart on my plate (making it almost impossible to eat). sad because this place is so close to home and we were hoping to become regulars.

food great, service ruined it. recently went to meiji after seeing rave reviews about this place. the food is great, however, the service we got deserves zero stars. there were several things that went wrong, like waitress knocking over and breaking the vase, spilling used soy sauce on our table, not replacing napkins and silverware that were taken after broken vase, forgetting our miso soup and then giving us a look like we were trying to get another order of miso soup when we originally didnt get it, and a general lack of providing a pleasant meal experience until the very end of the meal when it was time for the check. having the food come out late is fine, the wait was worth it. however, the quality of service didnt match the quality of the food.

i love meiji! well worth the wait for such great quality sushi rolls. the owner takes such pride in his food and for good reason. i would come here more often if it wasn't for the price. a little hard on the wallet compared to other sushi restaurants i like, too. hubby and i would love to go tonight, but kobe is more reasonably priced for us. we save meiji for special occasions.

easily one of the best restaurants in nwa. wow. so so so sooo good. no matter what you order it will taste fantastic and the ingredients will be top notch. i crave the food from here. servers are great, atmosphere is wonderful, food is sublime, and the price is reasonable. if i made any suggestion it might be to improve the wine list. but, whether you do or not, i'll keep coming back.

good but expensive and small portions.. food was very good, fried rice was straight baller. i had steak/shrimp combo, took forever to cook and wasn't even that busy, also had a sushi roll which was absolutely outstanding, but small and expensive. protein portions were small, 6 small shrimp and what looked like a 3oz sirloin for $19.50! grilled veggies were good, except the excess mushrooms, and as said earlier the fried rice is best i have ever had i think. good japanese fare but i still prefer shogun b/c portion sizes and the show is neat as well. oh yeah, the miso soup is awesome also.

customer reviews. at meiji, we appreciate and encourage feedback from our guests. while i am pleased that so many of you have taken the time to post positive reviews, i hate to see that some of you have been disappointed by the time that it takes for your meals to be prepared.
meiji is not the quickest restaurant in town, and i’d like to explain why. many japanese restaurants will prepare rolls at the beginning of the day so that hours later they can be quickly topped, garnished, and served. from the start, meiji has served only premium fish, house-made sauces, and every roll made to order—never stored. sometimes that means a longer wait, especially during peak dinner hours, but i’m not willing to sacrifice quality for quick service. if you are in a hurry, please let your server know, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you and to suggest menu items that can be served more quickly.
even though we aim for perfection, mistakes do happen, and i hope that you will let me or my staff know when you are disappointed—we’ll do our best to make it right. contact me directly at: 479 521 5919

longest wait in nwa. we keep coming back because the food. however, it takes over an hour to receive our food after we order. then, because of how busy it is there, they rush us out by bringing our check before we are done eating. this has happened the past four times. we will start looking for somewhere else to eat japanese.

never again. tonight i ordered three rolls for take-out, a request that should ordinarily take about 20 minutes to prepare. i was a bit shocked to find that it wouldn't be ready to pick up for 40 minutes. so, i waited until 50 minutes after ordering, and walked in. the hostess then informed me that it would be another 15 minutes, and proceeded to argue with me about the time that i had called. after paying and another 20 minutes of standing in the front window like a chump (for a total of 1:10 after calling), i finally got my order. the food is good, but not worth waiting 1:10, with 20 minutes in the entranceway, for some basic rolls. there are too many japanese restaurants in nwa to put up with this.

disappointed. first visit and my food was not ready when i arrived....called in order and waited the 35 minutes they said, went to pick up, and they say "oh, we don't even have that order"!!! very disappointing. had to wait an additional 10-15 min while they prepared. seems like their service could be an issue b/c other reviews mention poor service. as for the food, i had a california roll and the crab tasty a bit fishy. my husband had the spider roll, which was good, but the roll was not tight and fell apart as you were eating it. edamame...slightly undercooked and too crunchy. i am not a very picky person or "foodie" but comparing to other sushi restaurants, was disappointed and will try another one next time.

not wow'd. went for lunch today was really excited to try a new place. i'm from hawaii where i know my fresh fish and love nigiri (real) sushi. i was a little disappointed. the rice was a little dry and bland. the fish pieces had lots of membrane making it chewy. my husband had chicken katsu which was dry (overcooked). the restaurant is beautiful and service was good but not sure i'll be back, if i do come back i'll stick to the faux sushi or just order unagi that was good.

best sushi in northwest arkansas. meiji is the best place for sushi in northwest arkansas. i am from the west coast and when i brought some family and friends in for dinner one night they thought i was crazy for taking them to sushi in arkansas. they agreed that it is excellent. the fish is fresh and the service is excellent. they also have the best fried rice i have ever had, if you haven't tried it you are missing out. my favorite roll is the daikon roll and you can't go wrong with any of the nigiri
