couldn't see any opening hours on the door, so we came on a thursday night but were disappointed to find it wasn't open. will try again as we've heard good things, but it would be great to see some opening times to save people wasting their time!

without a doubt the best restaurant experience i have had in a long time.
the food is fresh and delicious (well priced ) and the staff are friendly and helpful.
favourite dish so far are the meatballs - but i am keen to try them all!!

meigas cafe-try something new every time!. meigas cafe in ballarat is a must for everyone visiting ballarat who likes to try interesting, genuine and fabulous european fare with a rustic edge to it. jose and yamelly have created a warm, friendly, comfortable environment in this cosy cafe off the mall. there is always something new on the menu to try and jose clearly takes great delight in watching his customers' reactions to any new dish he trials.

the best thing about meigas' food is that is always made up of the freshest ingredients, which are usually locally produced (you can see, smell and taste how fresh they are)..... so even the simplest dishes are full of authentic flavours, colours and aromas. jose has a talent for making foods that you might normally not try very easy to enjoy, such as kangaroo, crocodile, black/white pudding or octopus. of course, there are plenty of more 'traditional' dishes including tortillas, chorizo, tapas and the incredible seafood paella..... or even just a sandwich! they're all good,

since i discovered this little cafe a few months ago, my partner and i have become regulars. the food is brilliant, the specials board always has something new to try, jose and yamelly always welcome us by name and spend time explaining the menu (including how to eat different dishes) and in terms of the prices, servings are generous and extremely good value for money!

for us, meigas is an easy choice when we feel like a satisfying meal, good company and a genuine, down-to-earth, easy dining experience. we're even prepared to drive an hour from melbourne to eat there!

if you're looking for an authentic, traditional, interesting and satisfying spanish food experience, you really need to give it a go. unless you just want manufactured french fries. then you should go somewhere else.

the service here is perfect, not sure i have had a better experience in a restaurant. the food is brilliant, authentic and delicious. we will definitely return. hot tip: book in advance.

i had my first experience at meigas on saturday night. a long awaited experience at that! it's been on my list since they were in the old establishment. i knew to go the "feed me" option because i wasn't sure what to try. needless to say i wasn't disappointed. everything was absolutely amazing. the tables are quite close together so if a romantic quiet night is what you're after go somewhere expensive. the atmosphere and decor just adds to the experience. probably the most accommodating staff i've came across in ballarat. friendly without trying. i had to put a stop to my food coming out i was so extremely full! top restaurant in ballarat

we ordered the feed me option and highly recommend it. very affordable and so filling. we also ordered the punto rosa which was refreshing. aviva and izzy were so attentive, we really enjoyed the entire experience. ps the toilets have cool artwork!!!!

what can i say? i love this great cafe/restaurant. it has authentic spanish (not to be confused with mexican-spanish) food. don't be afraid to try the specials... they often blow us away with their deliciousness!! the staff are lovely people and the decor is equally welcoming. don't be afraid to book: especially in the evening. another great contribution to the growing 'world' food scene in ballarat. love it.

a very happening place. late on friday night it was packed. good atmosphere, noise level was not too loud. plenty to look at with pictures, signs and boards. food was really good. highlight for me was the beef checks. it came with mash potatoes covered in the cheeks gravy was extremely tasty and beef was so soft and slowed cooked to perfection.
estrella on tap went down real well.
service was quick and gave plenty of help and suggestions.

quaint ambience interesting food. dtopped in for early lunch. food cooked fresh which meant a short wait.

need to pre order the paella.

the best and most authentic spanish food on australia. felt like i was back in madrid. will travel to ballarat just to eat here at least a couple times a year.

this place was absolutely fantastic! we were a group of 4 and ordered just about everything on the menu 😅. standouts were the patatas bravas and the garlic prawns. beef cheek was a bit underwhelming. we also got the paella for 2 to share between the 4 of us, which worked out well. lots of seafood in the paella. the creme catalan was also beautiful. would def come back here again.

one of my places i booked for dinner during my holiday visit. read the reviews and true to the words meigas did not disappoint.
as we sat down, we ordered the paella straight away as it takes at least 45 mins to prepare. we then ordered some croquetas, grilled calamari and prawn with salad, beef cheek. the food was very tasty especially the beef. it was cooked to the perfection! the paella was good with plenty of seafood but it just lacked a bit of flavour. as dessert, we ordered the almond cake and churros, both quite nice and overall we enjoyed the nice dinner.

it was so worth it to eat here. food was really nice. the staff are friendly and the service was prompt.

what incredible place! the place was packed but we were lucky to get a seat at the bar. we had the prawns in hot garlic sauce and then you can soak up all that delicious garlic chili sauce with the complimentary fresh bread. we also had the patatas bravas and fried eggplant.

the house red is light and the waiter said it’s a blend made just for them. all the produce is fresh and it authentic food. ended the dinner with hot fresh churros — so good!
