came in for dinner; delicious food and great service. ordered the meatballs, calamari, pork adobo and beef and potato stew, highly recommend the beef and potato stew. staff was friendly and accommodating.

came here whilst on a work trip to ballarat and was blown away by the incredible variety and flavour of every single dish. we opted for the $50 per head feed me option (highly recommend), 14 dishes later we left in the best food coma possible. friendly and extremely helpful staff, great atmosphere and music, if you're in ballarat you'd be crazy not to visit!

excellent service. the eggplant with molasses is a religious experience. the meat balls with almond sauce is delicious. the only thing that has varied between amazing and just delicious is the chorizo.

meigas is probably one of our favourite restaurants in ballarat. i went with my partner and we ordered the special baguettes and churros. the baguettes were delicious, particularly the bread and mayonnaise. the churros were amazing! covered in sugar and complimented with chocolate sauce.

with food aside, the restaurant has a great atmosphere and the set out is really cultured and unique.

definitely give meigas a try if you haven't yet!

we love this place. the food is fresh, tasty and takes me back to spain. the feed me option is extremely good value where they just keep bringing food out until you say enough. best to book way in advance as this place is regularly booked out until all hours of the night. staff are friendly and attentive. do yourself a favour and eat here.

absurdly good. hard to believe it's in ballarat and not spain. moved from a small approx. 12 person seated restaurant to about 100 in a matter of months i think. highly recommend the "feed me" option, fantastic value and love the personal touch of the chef bringing the food to the table. excellent menu of beer too. surely warrants a few hats in the age good food guide. 5/5 easy

you would think you were transported back to spain with the atmosphere in this place. service staff were great despite of the busyness of the place. we had the feed me option which was $50 per person, food serving size for all dishes was extremely generous and they just kept bringing us dishes to try if we were hungry. interestingly the feed me option did not allow you to choose all the dishes (not the paella), so the restaurant just surprised us with what we had but we indicated what we liked to have.

 we started with the table de emblutidos which included different cold meats, machego cheese and olives which was beautiful and a great way to start. we thought the croquettes was truly outstanding with the aioli similar to the other reviewers. the fried white bait was my husband's favourite, crispy and delicious with the aioli but the fried calamari did not impress as much. the roasted pork leg with pepper sauce was so deliciously cooked, the meat was tender and well caramelised on the outside. grilled whole pepper with goat cheese was such an interesting combination. the meat balls were delicious for me with a rich nut based sauce, but my husband thought it was bland. 

the let down was chorizo in red wine sauce which too salty, chewy and not as enjoyable on its own or with bread but perhaps better mixed with other dishes. the chicken with potatoes was delicious as well but the  grilled prawns and sauteed tiger prawns in garlic were both fantastic. with desserts, we had churros with chocolate sauce and flan (creme caramel).. i couldn't believe how good the creme caramel was, heaven..

attended this establishment this evening for a pre christmas catch up with friends.we are a group of professionals aged between 55 and 62. we were disappointed to be told that we could not partake of the 'banquet ' style dining as all on the table needed to order this. with one of our party having medical reasons for not being able do this, the staff were adamant we could not do this. the waitress cited what was written on the menu but this was not clear. when one of our party asked to speak to a manager about our request the waitress said she was as good as the manager
as we had planned to try this kind of dining experience we were disappointed, so then asked for menus to then decide what we would eat.
we chatted amongst ourselves, laughing and enjoying our get together. we asked to have our order taken to be confronted by a different young lady who informed us that we were extremely rude and that we had made a number of the staff 'very uncomfortable '!!!!!!!! we did have mentioned by this young lady that we were free to leave or maybe it was that we would be asked to leave.......i am afraid i was still trying to process the first part of our admonishment so i did lose track of the conversation initially.
to say we were astounded would be an understatement
and i have never been spoken to in this manner by anyone at a restaurant and cannot imagine how this is in any way good customer relations
the rest of the meal was spent with our group being extremely careful of anything we said in case it was again misconstrued.
not a pleasant experience at all and though the food was good our night was spoilt in the first half hour of our get together.
and by not being 'allowed ' to dine as we wished, the establishment lost out by about $100

3 tapas all cooked to perfection, atmosphere was brilliant . nice balance of flavours in the patatas bravas... succulent prawns, beautiful fresh salad.

one night in ballarat and were recommended this place. weren't disappointed everything was genuine spanish and the place was buzzing on a tuesday night. went with a selection of small tapas to share, white anchovies were gr8 l, small cheese plate included a reasonable manchego and the sauted mushrooms substantial. the calimari was a bit oily for crumbed but overall decor, service and food would get us back.

i made a booking for a group of over ten people over the phone, three weeks in advance, and was neglected to be told that bookings over 10 are required to order the banquet option. this was sorted out quite quickly on the night, and they allowed us to order separately. unfortunately, the food took a very long time to arrive, with everyone's food arriving very far apart in time. i have always loved meigas, and have been many times before. it's very sad to see that since it has opened in a bigger venue, the quality of both the food and service has declined. the food that we received this night was for the most part lovely, but a few of the dishes were quite average.
another unfortunate note is that when we spoke up about the food we hadn't yet received (almost 2 hours after ordering) or the wine we were still waiting for, the staff responses were quite rude and often patronising. whilst the restaurant was busy, and the staff were all working hard, they should also be able to maintain a positive and hospitable attitude, even when faced with complaints.
all was sorted in the end, it was just such a shame that the once super friendly and authentic little cafe seemed to be lost in the new restaurant.

we went to ballarat for the weekend and went here for dinner, what a great place this is food is amazing great spanish wine list and the staff if you have not eaten here before are a great help in guiding you on how to order. really good special board as well really loved it wish they had a restaurant in melbourne

great tasting food, and quick service too. went there for a family birthday, and staff were more than happy to help choose from the menu, lots of variety and lovely atmosphere. if there was anything to be negative about it would only be that it was slightly cramped. definitely would visit again.

good service, average food

i went for lunch at meigas last month. the restaurant atmosphere and decorations is amazing. i ordered 4 different tapas style for lunch but sadly their food was just ok. everything cook to perfection but there is no wow factor and a little lack of seasoning.

awesome service, wonderful food. tried lots of dishes and all were delicious. garlic prawns that melted in your mouth, pork and blue cheese croquettes, grilled calamari, potatoes bravos, meatballs in almond sauce, salad, churros, mushrooms. we will be back from melbourne at some point it was so good.
