v-necks. pizza and atmosphere were great as well as the location. but coming from ny no owner of a pizza place or upscale bar would ever have their male staff wear a v-neck t-shirt! i know i'm not the only one who noticed this either! other than that the place was good and you can't beat the prices for a slice.

fred. my friends and i were in slc for a short visit... a bellhop recommended a bar that we thought was not quite the place we would like to have a drink, so we walked back a half block and wound up at maxwells. we did not eat. we just sat at the bar and had a couple of beers. the bartenders on both occasions were friendly and attentive. i don't think you could ask for much more. of course the beer was very refreshing! : )

ok!. my husband and i are always looking for new great places for pizza and wings. i saw so many comments on how wonderful the pizza was. wings were what you can get anywhere. the pizza crust was good and thin but nothing stood out as i have to come back. i would only come and get their $1 slice of pizza and that is it because that is worth it!

very tasty cheesesteak. the chicken cheesesteak (with provolone, onions and cherry peppers) was excellent. i loved the bread and the cherry peppers definitely gave it a spicy pop, which was great. i'm sure i will have it again. since they were offering dollar slices i figured i'd try the pizza too. the pizza was thin, greasy, and delicious. the only thing that wasn't great about the experience was the service, which was only luke-warm at best. but on the whole, i'd go back for the food alone, and isn't that the point?!

maxwells-slc. i loved the atomsphere and huge oval wood bar. they even added hooks to the bar for us ladies to hang our purses. loved that. its nice to be able to go somewhere to de-stress after a long week with the kids and have awesome pizza and cold beer.

a yummy slice of nyc in slc . wandered into maxwell's to escape the heat in downtown a few days ago and so glad we did! truly new york pizza has come to utah!!!
loved this place so much, we came late in the afternoon and should have tried out their happy hour menu ~ huge slices of pizza at just two bucks... but we opted for the lunch menu and, can i just tell you how wonderful it was? i had the gnocchi and it was mouthwatering! beware my hubby ordered the italian stallion pizza and it honestly is at least 20 inches in diameter, but ooooh so yummy. thin curst and gooey good. just like we had in nyc... love this place. flat screens everywhere and tons of sports to view
our server, was also the bartender [not a busy time of day]! he was friendly, we enjoyed chatting with him and his recommendations wee spot on!
when we are in the mood for fantastic pizza here in slc we now know where to go.... hmmmmm, it is kind of upscale, located in the heart of downtown....if only they delivered! [a girl can dream, right?] seriously, you will love it!

great pizza, great food in general. i'd been to the park city location (kimball junction) twice and i am glad they got the salt lake place open. they did a beautiful job on the remodel. a few things:

- it's hard to park. you are on your own downtown in that regard, so you may have to walk a couple of blocks to get to the location. it' worth it.

- the utah liquor gods have yet to issue these folks a license for wine and spirits, so you are stuck with the 3.2 beer they serve. this is supposed to clear up we were told.

now, it's a bit pricey for the fare - but it's very, very good. the thin crust, east coast style pizza is the best of the type in town now, and i have been to all of them. it is good enough that we'd drive to the park city area from sugarhouse to eat it.

cheesesteak - excellent. we've never had a bad dish come out of their kitchen in the park city spot - and now the slc location.

the other place for a different style and very delicious pizza downtown is settebello on 2nd west. wood fired naples style - excellent. now, we have two very good pizza options downtown.

maxwell's has a very open, airy feel, with lots of flat screens up for sports. i think visitors from nearby hotels will love the place once the rubes at the state get with the fact that the owners likely spent million bucks to get it open - a huge investment in main street - and they ought to be bending over backward to get these guys a full liquor license as fast as possible.

i give the food a hearty thumbs up.

become a fat boy!. light, crunchy, fresh calamari served piping hot. pasta should be more al dente, but great red sausce. pizza? yum! but only one size - 20", so come hungry or bring friends. the best cannoli west of chicago and east of san fransisco.

most everyone was having the pizza, but i went with the bartender's suggestion of the chicken marsala. it was good. i wasn't blown away but there was definitely none left.

according to the hubby, you know it’s true ny-style when you gotta fold the slices in half just to manage them. the original location hasn’t always been known for great service, but who cares when you get such a delicious pizza. their wings don’t suck either.

great pizza - so-so service. i love thin crust pizza so i thoroughly enjoyed my pizza - perfect crust, crispy, not too cheesy - it was delish!

but

we had a small issue with our check (tried to buy a gift certificate together with our meal and they mistakingly thought we were using it); not an issue that would normally take 20 minutes to resolve but in our case, it did. oliver - the manager that day - ignored us and was more interested in schmoozing other people rather than helping us! seriously??

other than that, bar's nice, big screens playing sports - it's a cool environment!
