maxwell's east coast eatery

great pizza and inconsistent service. first off the pizza here is pretty amazing, more of a brooklyn style with great dough and toppings. the only caveat i found was the service. we were a fairly international group and all well over 21. we had no problem with being served alcohol in the dining area and then we went to thebarwhere i was near instantly insulted by the hipster female bartender for being canadian, which wasn't a big deal, we can take a joke. but then the id process began and she refused to serve half of us for not having passports on us. i guess i looked 'old enough' so my canadian driver's licence sufficed. the other half of the group was not as lucky and licences were not good enough. one mentioned we were served in the dining room, then we were pestered and told to tattle on who served us. we didn't know her name so the bartender had to run and tell the manager who came over and demanded to know who the waitress was. this wasn't our problem, we are paying customers and showed valid identification when asked. this restaurant needs to deal with their staff behind the scenes (although i believe she did nothing wrong as we were all of age and was a great server) and let their customers enjoy their night out. although the pizza was great i won't return.

great place for both weekendbarnights and lunchtime during the week!. i love maxwell's. my friends and i regularly go there on weekends to have a few drinks, enjoy the music and of course eat the delicious food. the pizza is absolutely fabulous. i luckily work right across the plaza, so i am able to walk right over there for my lunches! definitely recommend it!

we were staying at the grand america hotel in salt lake city and wanted a place to eat within walking distance. since we had two adults and two kids pizza was the choice. we walked a few blocks down to maxwells - home of fat kids pizza! not realizing kids can't go into thebarto wait for a table in utah, we just waited in the landing area. it was the beginning of march madness, so the tables were not turning quickly. the host and hostess were so great letting us know it could be a while and they would move us to a table quickly since we had the kids. well, it took longer than they liked so they sent over comp appetizer. clearly they were really worried about the time we were waiting. it was because the restaurant turns to abarat 9:30 pm and it was 8:30 pm. they let us order and gave us the next table. we had food in 2 mins, and every manager checked on us to make sure everything was ok. the pizza was good, the ravioli was good, the salad was nice and the atmosphere was a fun sports bar- but not loud. the staff was very gracious, and we were happy to find a fun place to have a drink and pizza.

v-necks. pizza and atmosphere were great as well as the location. but coming from ny no owner of a pizza place or upscalebarwould ever have their male staff wear a v-neck t-shirt! i know i'm not the only one who noticed this either! other than that the place was good and you can't beat the prices for a slice.

fred. my friends and i were in slc for a short visit... a bellhop recommended abarthat we thought was not quite the place we would like to have a drink, so we walked back a half block and wound up at maxwells. we did not eat. we just sat at thebarand had a couple of beers. the bartenders on both occasions were friendly and attentive. i don't think you could ask for much more. of course the beer was very refreshing! : )

maxwells-slc. i loved the atomsphere and huge oval wood bar. they even added hooks to thebarfor us ladies to hang our purses. loved that. its nice to be able to go somewhere to de-stress after a long week with the kids and have awesome pizza and cold beer.
