have been here quite a few times for coffee and cake which have been nice. decided to go for breakfast, what a mistake. my friend ordered crepes which looked as though they had been dropped on the floor, compot was horribly sweet and tasted floury, cream was over-wiped to the point of being butter, my meal which came out well after my friends was scrambled eggs on toast, they came out with chives in them even though menu didn't state this, eggs were well over cooked bacon well overdone, was almost like leather.

went into mavis today for morning tea with my 4 yr old. his fries came out in 5 mins which was great. it took another 10 mins for my tea and a few mins later i had to go and ask for his juice they had forgotten. 30 mins after ordering my salad from the cabinet finally showed up! my son was over it by then so i had them put it in a box to takeaway. service really needs to improve.

pleasant, low-key atmosphere with great choices for food, and what i had was tasty. music was gentle jazz, and everyone seemed contentedly settled and comfortable. will return.

so unassuming but when you walk in.... our mouths watered! the food in the cabinet looked so good! we couldn't decide what to choose! oh my! delish!
but the coffee could have been better, was warm and weak.
will be going back for date night!!!

we went to mavis & co today and decided to order a couple of food items from the savoury cabinet and two flat whites, as from previous experience ordering cooked food is 'always' a lengthy wait.

after waiting half an hour we finally got our cabinet food minus the slices we also ordered for takeaway. they arrived five minutes later. i consider the 35 mins wait to be far too long. the flat whites were very small and compared to other cafes all in all it was a poor experience. having read the other reviews on this website mavis seriously need to sort themselves out!

hubby thought he was buying a special lunch to bring home for me...it wasn't......most of it was tasted but thrown out! he waited 20 mins in line to only one staff member on one till...he ordered a chroritzo quesidia it was burnt and greasy (dripping in grease) and had too much going on inside. had to bin that! and he got a chicken pesto croissant this too was greasy and actually had not enough flavor. the croissant was a texture i have never seen a croissant to be before. a banofee pie which was like soggy and bread and butter puddling slice thing which was dense and just yuck.....this place always looks busy so they must be doing something right. it was $28 wasted to be honest.

my hubby and i have found our favourite cafe with mavis & co! fantastic food, atmosphere, and so many options. how have i not gone here sooner?? i enjoyed the donburi and it was full of flavour and the pork melted in my mouth. tasty apple crumble herbal tea. their chocolate meringues are exquisite! i can’t wait to go back! finally, a place that has a huge range of cabinet food! i’m so happy we came here!

lovely home made tasty food. always something different to eat and always delicious. some things are a bit pricey and it gets quite crowded sometimes but staff are pretty onto it and get things out in a reasonable amount of time. would reccomend for sunday brekkie!

this cafe is nice but the service is always so poor. the last 3 times i have been here with friends we get coffee, cabinet food and something off the menu. our coffee never comes out together, our meals never come out together and we get cabinet food at the same time or after we get our menu order.. it's so frustrating.

mavis used to be my favourite and i think it has lost direction as it has got bigger. service of the girl behind the counter was abrupt, coffee was average and food was a decent wait for something lacking taste. was disappointed.

always a lovely place for brunch. busy most of the times in the weekend but that's to be expected. i mean who doesn't want a nice brunch after a night out in town.

the food is excellent for just being premade "cabinet food" . i always get one of those risotto balls although i haven't seen the lamb and mushroom one lately which is my favorite. pricing is ok as well.

#vagan fix# my favorite brunch in hamilton! the chicken noodle salad is really nice!
and the customer service is great！staff all friendly 👏🏻👏🏻i like the environment and music!

a place to race about such gorgeous food melt in your mouth a huge selection lots of gf choices. friendly staff and owner. will be a regular every time in hamilton

great service
amazing choice (perhaps too much as i take forever to decide because i want to eat all of it).
food is delicious, my fave thus far is the quesadilla.
reasonably priced.
my absolute fave cafe in hamilton.

what a great place mavis & co eatery is. a stone throw away from the busy part of grey street, it is offset from the road and if not for the little a-frame sign board i would not have found it. but how glad i am that i did. the serving is very generous, perhaps a touch too much for a small eater. i ordered the smoke salmon, poached egg and salad breakfast and although it was absolutely delicious i simply could not finish it. the display cabinet have way too many temptations-that is never a bad thing. look for to coming back for some cake and tea very soon.
