pleasant, low-key atmosphere withgreatchoices for food, and what i had was tasty. music was gentle jazz, and everyone seemed contentedly settled and comfortable. will return.

what agreatplace mavis & co eatery is. a stone throw away from the busy part of grey street, it is offset from the road and if not for the little a-frame sign board i would not have found it. but how glad i am that i did. the serving is very generous, perhaps a touch too much for a small eater. i ordered the smoke salmon, poached egg and salad breakfast and although it was absolutely delicious i simply could not finish it. the display cabinet have way too many temptations-that is never a bad thing. look for to coming back for some cake and tea very soon.

came here for tea for two.... service was friendly, ... awesome looking selection of goodies in the cabinet... we did get a luscious lemon slice but it was dry... berry tea was nice andgreatplace for a catch-up.

hamilton isn't exactly known for its cafes so it's refreshing to see a vibrant cafe like mavis & co which offers visually stunning, tasty treats andgreatcoffee.

spacious inside and outside, they have a stunning array of cabinet food. having already had lunch, my group was after some sweets and coffees. our coffees were fantastic and we had the lemon yogurt cake, strawberry custard shortcake and chocolate macaroon.

the fruity flavours of cakes were in abundance and our cakes had the right amount of sweetness without being overbearing. a little disappointing was the strawberry custard cake, which wasn't as moist as expected.

loved the savory cabinet options. the scone with caramelised onion is the best! can't beat a savoury scone with brunch. frittata is also good and quite filling. skillful baristas -greatcoffees and perfect chai. cute atmosphere. the mismatched serveware was an adorable touch.

a favourite brunch spot for a while now, decided to return once again for a long overdue catch up.

the cosy, homely interior with the outdoor courtyard area usually provides agreatsetting for a relaxed weekend brunch. alongside the cafe menu with fair options, there's agreatrange of cabinet food including some amazing desserts. service is generally very amiable and efficient, coffee very nicely made and ample tables available. will continue to come back!

my sister booked a big table outside at mavis & co with around 20 guests for her birthday. the service wasn'tgreatwith such a big group but once we got our food it was delicious. i ordered the lemon crepe which was nice but slightly too sweet and a piece of russian fudge to takeaway which was very smooth and creamy. the cabinet food was beautifully displayed and everything in it looked very enticing. i think next time i would order from the cabinet instead of the menu and come with a smaller group. worth a second visit though!

love mavis! maybe my fav for lunch, awesome cabinet options,greatvalue for money and food is attractively presented..love the quesadilla which is served with salad and love the accompanying beetroot. it'sgreatto have full meal, snacks savory or sweet, there's always something to match my mood. the coffee's is good no matter who is on, the consistency is great. my daughter loves the hot choc, with the stick of chocolate.. mavis's is usually very busy and noticed this can impact cleanliness in the courtyard at times.. sorry there is no excuse for tables staying uncleared for an extended period of time. fix this and i'd struggle to find any negatives.

we were visiting from out of town, meeting up in hamilton - mavis & co was recommended by the lovely staff at hamilton gardens information centre. we left vowing to make this our regular rendezvous spot. gorgeous decor, amazing and eye-catching array of cabinet food, an interesting menu that includes old favourites and classics with a twist, andgreatcoffee and smoothies. also genuinely friendly and helpful service. only suggestion would be getting those broken umbrellas repaired and perhaps get a couple more before summer. the handy on-site parking was a treat for us jaffas. already looking forward to our next visit.

extremely impressed with both the food and the service here. it was my first time at mavis & co and i will definitely be back. the staff looked happy to be there. the breakfast menu was outstanding, the prices very reasonable and the atmosphere pumping on a sat morning. obviously doing a lot of things right as we were lucky to score a table. left feeling very happy and stoked to have found agreatplace to enjoy a good breakfast.

heardgreatthings about this café, the cabinet food is quite a display, there were no seats so had to get everything to go, the one time we did sit we found the layout could be better as the queue makes it very crowded if you are sitting opposite the counter, people bumping you.. had to reorder coffee as it was terrible, but second go was better. maybe go back for a third try.

for all the good reviews i have to say i was extremely disappointed. i have visited here before once at night for tapas & once during the day. the experiences were ok but notgreatbut i decided to give it another go given all thegreatreviews.

when we arrived we were ignored for some time until i went to the counter to ask for menus & to wipe our table. the food options were fairly limited unless you wanted a cake or breakfast. we were told the meal came with garnish & relish which it didn't. our meals came out at different times and my friend had nearly finished hers before i got mine. i'd have to say the food was average. then to top it off we got charged for the wrong stuff & then found we were overcharged. certainly wont be visiting here again, service is terrible & the food is average.

there is another entry on this site for clarence at mavis, which is the same place. not sure what the story is there.

however, the bottom line is that this is one of the better cafes in hamilton, and definitely worth the visit. cabinet food isgreatand displayed like a work of art! other food is always of a very high standard.

the service is the best you will get anywhere.

nice outdoors area (entry to this area via an internal door). there are also some tables in the car park!

well worth the visit, and have been there several times. i'll be back for more.
